Unless he's 8 years old, that will not work. Let's compare him to Larry:

As far as I know, there is not Phoenix Wright styled human that is a stick. And with arms like those old Power Ranger dolls.

Yes, I agree with Mr. G, It's awesome for scratch, but it looks like he's 8 years old........ Is he?
You know, this is a sig.

Yay!

Criticism!

I noticed that after I finished the sprite.

I'll change that later.

I like customs :) Good job. Phoenix Wright style is a difficult style to get used to so I commend you for trying at a custom sprite.

Forgive me if I'm being a little overcritical here but I notice a lot of errors. That doesn't mean it's not good, just that there's a lot of things that can improve it.

Styling and general spriting issues
Phoenix Wright sprites have what's known as "selout", selective outlining. It's a little difficult to understand selout, tutorial here: http://bigbluebubble.com/pixeltutorial/chapter12.htm , I can't really say much more. Probably best to leave this until last. It's not the easiest skill to learn Edgy

You seem to have a little pillow shading problem. As well as a gradient shading problem. Look at that Larry sprite posted before for brilliant reference. It looks like you have the basics right, but kind of... executed them wrong. Sorry, I'm not good with lightsources either... to me it's just a matter of experimenting until it looks right. Larry

Eyes are a little out of style... It's a little hard to explain how to make eyes for PW. You want the darkest colours of the hair to act as an antialias between the darkest black and the white of the eye (skin colour is used in this too). If you're going for the DS sexy sprites, then you can use an eye colour here instead of the hair colour (for reference look at Ema's hot blue eyes).

Here's a quick edit I did. My eye is on the right. It's not perfect or anything, but I think it gets the idea across of how to get it more in style.

Minor nitpicks regarding the animation:
-Sprites in this game only have 3 frames of blinking. Personally, I'd delete the second frame, for a good looking quick blink.
-Talking seems to follow a "pattern", kind of:
For most sprites, it will start with closed mouth, then a wide open mouth, then a mouth showing a sort of "o" shape, then back to the wide open mouth, then close and repeat. Your mouth in this seems to just flap, not talk. :[ I always imagine them saying "maoam", after an annoying advert on TV here. There's some variation to this rule (when mouths are open in the initial animation, for example) but most generally follow this rule.

Anatomical Problems
Uh yeh. He is quite out of proportion really. His chest needs to be a LOT more buff. I refuse to believe that a ribcage, lungs and heart are in that space, not to mention muscles. This is the biggest issue with the sprite that I notice so far. Fix this and it will look a lot better.

His elbow goes at the middle of the arm, approximately. Your elbow looks to be about 3/4 of the way down, which makes the bottom part of the arm looks really short.

The way you've made the neck bones makes it look like a massive adam's apple and looks quite creepy.

Sorry if this isn't all that helpful. I'm not particularly good with criticism, but I think I've at least identified some of the trouble areas. I'm only trying to help... dunno if I did. Larry

Okay.

Image

Blinking and talking animations done, also fixed some other things.

This is the most I'll be doing for now.

I'll get working on more useful stuff 'cause I know you don't need a sprite of me. Detective Gumshoe

Edit: Forgot to change a bit of the front hair.

You need to add more texture on the top/hair
the shading on the top needs to be more like capcom style, at the moment its just to pillowey.
More detail in general all round.
Once you have done this, you need to make a more inventive design for his top, plain red with black isnt enough.
Look at that larry example to pick up on all the points i've mentioned

Yes I notice the hair problem but this sprite is kinda old so I lost interest in it.

But for my sake, I'll redo the hair shading. And other stuff.
