Post subject:  Voice Acting Auditions for Percei Verita: Ace Attorney

Well, as I'm cranking production into high gear I figure it's time for the regular nessecities when it comes to audio files. The SHOUTS! The ones you all know and love are here, I need to recruit some decent people who can shout to have their voice in the game. Below each character I've included some directional notes to set you off in the right direction.

WHEN YOU DO THESE, DO NOT INCLUDE THE WOOSH SOUND EFFECT, IT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO ADJUST THE LEVELS TO MY LIKING, I JUST WANT YOUR VOICE. However, your voice file can be cleaned and the like to make it sound better on its own. To audition for a character, just record each word (or words) in quotations with the direction given. For actors not familiar with the games, what I'm looking for is something along the lines of these voice clips here.

When you record them, send them to me here as a PM or e-mail them to me at barber.jacobervin@gmail.com

Percei Verita - Male: Medium/Medium-Low Voice

Apollo's brash youth, but a bit of Phoenix's knowing confidence.

"Objection!"
"Take That!"
"Hold It!"
"That's It!" - Not just blatant shouting, kind of like you've just discovered something.

Katrina Rainsford - Female: Medium-High Voice

Smart, knowing, sassy, a wisdom beyond her years.

"Objection!"
"Hold It!"
"Take That!"

Russell Hayes - Male: Medium/Medium-Low Voice

More elderly/adult like voice.

"Objection!"
"Hold It!"

Anton Grau - Male: Low/Very-Low Voice

Forceful, but not demonic like Manfred's

"Objection!"

Diego Armando - Low Voice (see his Objection! (Godot) on CR Audio Page)

Needs to sound incredibly similar to Godot's objection.

"Hold It!"
"Take That!"

Neil Marshall - Meduim/Medium-High Voice

Velvety smooth, with a bit of a country twang

"Objection!"

So you're using "That's It!" instead of "Eureka!" for Logic, eh?
In my opinion, it sounds better, and should have been like that in AAI.

Post subject:  Re: Looking for the Shouters!

Yeah, I thought it would be odd to have him do "Eureka!"... kind of awkard.

Here's a tip.
Post this request on youtube, might improve your chances of finding voice-actors.

I believe you should take your best chances here.

Much easier to go to a board meant for voice acting. Post up a request for the project an dsee what people are interested in doing it. I believe this is the one I attended a long time ago though due to lack of the internet I've been on a very long hiatus.

:D This is if you want to find quality voice actors. <3

We should have an official thread somewhere where EVERYONE does their objections and anyone can pick one they like.

I'll take a stab at this. I've been a voice acor for 3 years.

Are any of these roles taken yet?

Also, if possible, could you post give an example of a similar voice for each character?

No none of these roles are taken. I'll try, but I can't guarantee anything for the similarites. Also, added a voice I forgot.

Alright, I'll audition for as many people as possibe.

Whoa whoa whoa...DIEGO ARMANDO?!?!?! HELL YES!!! It just so happens I've gotten really good at Godot's "Objection!" over the past year. :godot:

How shall I send you the lines?

I know what every character except Kruger looks like...visualizations of the characters really helps me.

EDIT: Also, any sort of particular accents or anything for Percei and Russell?

Post subject:  Re: Voice Acting Auditions for Percei Verita: Ace Attorney

Hmm... OK, I haven't done a visiual for Anton Kruger yet, but picture him as... well, a 27 Year Old Manfred von Karma, but very imposing, he's tall and rather strong. He generally wears a white suit with navy pinstripes and a navy tie. He has blonde hair and a Diego/Godot style beard.

For Percei, no real accent. Russell, maybe a faint New York accent? I'm not sure, I never really considered that. Also, I need a "Take That!" for Diego if you're still interested.

EDIT: Here are my audition lines:

Percei Verita:
Objection!
Hold It!
Take That!
That's It!

Anton Kruger:
Objection!

Diego Armando:
Hold It!
Take That!

I hope they're done to your liking. :edgy:

And yes, all of these were by me.

Hi! Captain Obvious here, any reason why you didn't zip them all together?
Rather then spread all the 2 second clips into different uploads?
Convience?

Megaupload/rapidshare=shite when it comes to multiple downloads.

Yeeeeeaaaahhh, sorry, first time dealing with Megaupload stuff. I had no idea what to use so I just took Perc's advice and wne with Megaupload. I'm not used to zipping files yet...but I'll make sure to do that next time!

Post subject:  Re: Voice Acting Auditions for Percei Verita: Ace Attorney

Yeeeah, I agree with Ceres on the full zip. Also, you saved me the trouble of adding the little undertone noise. Here's my critque...

Percei

Objection! - I like it, two things, could it go a slight bit faster, and have more emphasis on the JEC (like: Ob-JEC-tion!) like Kristoph does when he objects.

Hold It! - Pretty Good, I like it!

Take That! - Same as Hold It! Excellent job!

That's It! - I don't know how I should phrase this, but be um.. a little more direct? I like the toning, but with the pitch you dip down a bit on the later half of that, perhaps try not to do that? I know it's nitpicky, but I want it to be very good.

Anton

Objection! - It's OK. I can understand why you wouldn't be able to hit the voice range I'm looking for with him. Maybe with some voice editing software :P, I dunno, if someone else comes along who wants to try it, it could be better than yours. My main problem is its not really deep enough.

Diego

Hold It! - Pretty Good, but kind of the same problem with Anton, his is pretty close, you also sound kind of nasally when you do his voice, but all around not bad at all.
Take That! - Most of the same as a above, just go a little slower?

Anyway, sorry I've been so nitpicky, I'm just a perfectionist, and you were pretty good all around, and perfect on Perc's Take That! and Hold It! I hope I didn't offend.

No offense taken. :edgy:

I usually record a few different takes, but last night I was quite lazy. With Perc's Objection, I'll see what I can do with that. The That's It was really difficult for me because I had nothing to base it off of. As for Anton's Objection, I have the software to make his voice deeper. And finally, with Diego, I see what you're saying. With the Take That, I was basing itoff of Phoenix's, I actually preferred it when I did it slower, I wasn't sure how you'd like that though.

Alright, I'll record again soon, put them all in a ZIP file, then upload them again.

I added one more voice to be done, also, I'd like to request that anyone who does a voice audition leave out the sound undertone, that way I can tweak things like volume and add the undertone SFX later. Just send me the voice with sound edited out.

Alright, I only did that so you wouldn't automatically reject my audition because there was a LITTLE bit of static in the background.
