Welcome to Slezak's Remix Collection!
Here, I'll be posting all the songs I've made based on the Phoenix Wright games. This all started with the Cross-Examination themes, and has been expanding to cover even more tunes! Now, here they all are for your listening pleasure! This list will be constantly updated, so stay tuned! You may comment on the pieces as you so choose, but please please PLEASE keep 'em constructive. I'll accept comments that find faults with my songs, but I'd appreciate it if you told me how I could improve. Now, without further ado, on to the music! Achtung, baby!!!

The entire reason you even came here, the MUSIC!
http://media.putfile.com/Cross-Examinat ... te-revised - Cross Examination ~ Moderate
http://media.putfile.com/Cross-Examination--Allegro - Cross Examination ~ Allegro
http://media.putfile.com/Reminiscence-- ... -Last-Time - A "piano-and-strings beta" version of my latest creation, "Reminiscence - Cornered for the Last Time". This song was made in inspiration of Phoenix Wright's "fall from grace", the time his lawyer days ended all too abruptly all because of one piece of evidence... But that's a story for another forum. A "Piano-and-strings beta" is just that. The idea is there, but the instrumentation hasn't been thoroughly thought-out. I won't be posting many of these, but this one just sounded so... good, I just HAD to post it!
End of list, for now!

Update History
11/09/07 /Song Update/ Cross Examination ~ Moderate Updated! New link replaced the first one.
11/10/07 /New Song/ Cross Examination ~ Allegro added! Enjoy!
11/11/07 /New Beta/ Reminiscence - Cornered for the Last Time added!
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Its quite good. A little..."fuzzy", for lack of a better word, but I like the tune and the looping was very well done. It holdsd true to the PW style crossexam.

Thanks for the review!

Yeah, I know it's a little buzzy... I shoud've rethought that particular instrument, but I couldn't decide what to make it.

I like the softness. It would go perfect for when Gumshoe explains what happened.

I like these... a lot. Definitely the best attempt at a custom Moderato-Allegro pair I've heard so far. About the only criticism I can think of is that you don't add much new material to Allegro, but what you have is still excellent. If you're willing to keep making custom songs, I'll be happy to hear them.

Yeah... Sorry about not adding much, but there wasn't much I could think of adding to the Allegro version without breaking the theme, so I just opted for a couple neat transitions, a key change, and some basic drum beats.

So there was one examination before this? Would be nice to hear that too...oh well:
These were good, but for first 8 seconds it sounded like AJ:s cross examination. But that doesn't matter, becose these were so good ^^

Well yes, AJ's cross examination theme and mine are in the same key, but that's about the only similarity. Mine's a bit faster, the rhythm and melody is different... Okay, the instrument sounds similar, but not really... there are other instruments as well. The only other similarity I can see is the "layout". Both mine and AJ's are 16 bars long, both add another part to the second half, and both end with a "suspenseful pause" I guess you could call it. Other than that, I think they sound radically different. Thanks for the comment, but I hope my explanation wasn't too complicated.

Updated... again! New Beta: Reminiscence - Cornered for the Last Time. This track was inspired by Phoenix Wright's all-too abrupt ending as a defense attorney. For those that haven't played AA4 (Which, if you can't read Japanese, is most of you) I won't spoil HOW it happens. Just know, unfortunately, it happens. The reason it's a beta is because it's only composed using piano and strings, what I'd like to call a "piano-and-strings beta" version. The idea is there, but the instrumentation hasn't been thoroughly thought-out yet. This particular one just sounded so nice, I just had to submit it. Anyway, enjoy the new track!

These are all very well done. I was hoping for the Allegro testimony to branch off to a new melody, but that didnt really matter in the long run. Plus, I really like the undertones that you used there. Very much good, that piece.

The reminiscience is top-notch too, like professional GBA quality stuff. Which is better then almost all the other originals here. Including mine, which I havent put up.

Out of curiousity, what program do you use? I have garageband, which I can never get to emulate those non-acoustic instruments. Stupid Mac.

EDIT: Oh, and another awesome thing about you. I really like how you actually took our comments to the music...not everyone does that. Very cool stuff this thread is made of. I'm becoming a fan.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I try to reply to everyone's comments when I get a chance. And it's not just to get my post count up :P. But I don't quite understand what you mean by "how you took our comments to the music"... Do you mean how I always reply to comments? If so, then thanks. If not, then please explain.

I use FLStudio 6 demo version... The only limitation is the inability to save, but I can render to MP3 and WAV so I can still "save" the music. I figure since I'm not selling the music for profit it's no trouble. I also own Cakewalk Music Creator 3, but I haven't used it for any of the songs I've submitted here. I also have a few free downloaded plugins that I use and am constantly looking for more. Lastly, I have a MIDI keyboard hooked up to my computer. The only trouble I have is the delay between the time I hit the note and the time the computer receives it. I know it has to do with latency, it's just annoying. Thanks for taking an interest in what I use!

Yeah, I realize that the Allegro versions of the cross examination themes in the games branch off to another melody, but like I told a previous poster, I couldn't think up a suitable melody that wouldn't break the theme, so I decided for some transitions instead. I think they add some tension, which is perfect because the CE themes are supposed to be tense.

I mean how when I said that it was fuzzy, you actually went in, made it better, then reuploaded it. Other posters put their little foots down and say that they are happy with it, so in the end the critisism dosent really get anywhere.

I see your point about breaking the theme. It makes sense...and dosen't GS4's CE-A do a similar thing?

Ah. Now I see what you mean. And yes, GS4's CE-A theme does something similar, except it goes off on another small melody before bringing it all back around with a build-up... But in my opinion, it takes a little too long. You need to have a song that always remains tense if you're gonna use it for a tense situation.

Oh, and by the way, have you any ideas for other songs I could do?

Yes, an Investigation/Pursuit ~ Cornered theme would be awesome.

So you use a MIDI keyboard? o.O Wow. Those must be some high-quality midis that come out of it. I would've guessed a normal keyboard, but... *shrugs*

But, still, these are really nice, especially the Cornered for the Last Time. I love how you took the fast pace of the Cornered theme and managed to slow it down enough to sound somber and sad and still make it work. It's very nice.

Oh, Nick. When will you ever learn?

Well, the keyboard I use is MIDI, meaning it sends MIDI data such as notes and velocity over the USB cable, but the PROGRAM I use is higher-than-MIDI quality, but still accepts MIDI data to know which notes to trigger and how loud they should be.

You should do a trial and pretrial, and then maybe a Search theme. There aren't enough original ones of those.

You have a keyboard? Lucky...how long do these usually take you?
