I'm getting a Circus vibe from the cast. The three on the right and the colossus might be performers. The guy in the jump suit might be either a mechanic or a racer, so he might be a co-worker of the circus clan. Lavender and Kid Green might be attendants of said circus. That leaves the old guy and female-Santa. I assume 'Santa' is the protagonist. So that leaves the old man. Manager? Grandfather? Can't guess his role.

Uchikoshi said that if he ever did a sequel, it wouldn't be a direct continuation of 999. Also it seems the main character is confirmed not to be Junpei, so... I don't know, I'm pretty sure there'll be some references to 999 (and perhaps some of the characters will be related to the 999 cast in some way?), but I think they'll leave it at that.
I don't think it'll be just another Nonary Game, either. That wouldn't make much sense (why would there be another Nonary Game?).

Did anyone notice how their bracelets have different colours? Phi and 'Clover's are white, the man with the hat has a grey one and 'Lotus' bracelet is black. Could that mean something?

I personally think this is extremely likely (i.e. I think it's pretty much guaranteed). The big question is how the premise can still be fresh when at this point we already know everything there is to know about the Nonary Game, but I have faith in Uchikoshi.

Add to it, each bracelet has room for more then one digit. Looks like the bracelets are much more complicated in round two.

So, uh, there's no information about whether the story is connected to 999 in any way? Obviously the story of 999 is not over... and yet I still don't see how there's any way this could be a direct sequel without ruining the entirety of 999.
Rabbit makes me think of Rabbit Doubt. Oh dear. One escape-the-room-Saw-crossover with really creepy rabbits is enough.
The new-Clover girl looks a bit like Yoko to me, in hair and dress sense. Which is funny because Clover is supposedly 18 and Yoko is supposedly 14. Hm.

Also, a screenshot from Famitsu Andriasang didn't post - if I were to hazard a guess, this would be Sigma's equivalent to Junpei's first encounter with Zero in 999.
Looks like they'll keep the 2D for certain scenes.
Also, it took me a little while to place it, but now I realize what the 3D scenes remind me of: they look a lot like Another Code R.

If we're really lucky, 3D will be used for escape portions, while novel portions will stick with the 2D sprites. If we're lucky. (No, I'm not particularly fond of the 3D character models.)
I'd say he's giving off some slight anti-heroish vibes right now.
Nope, but I genuinely think that's the logical conclusion to draw unless otherwise indicated. I'm not convinced this game takes place long after 999 at all.

Or just for the fact that 3d models won't always do the official art of characters justice. We've had games for generations, and I say that it's very rare to see 3d models that wouldn't look better as 2d sprites IMO... especially on a handheld!

She looks about as similar to Yoko as Sigma does to Older!Simon. That is to say somewhat if you're actually trying to make the comparison, but I don't really see anything worth mentioning.
