Plus this is a remake adding in clothing again means adding new buildings to preexisting towns which is extra work or something.
So where I live apparently Game was giving out 25000 demo codes. My girlfriend missed out but no big deal right? Cept there's an exclusive megastone attached to the demo.

Just put the item shops in the PokéCenter like they did in Kalos and put the clothes shops where the item shops used to be. Would've been an easy fix without even having to add buildings (which I'm sure wouldn't have been a big issue in the first place.) It makes a lot more sense to sell the Pokémon medicine in the Pokémon hospital than having it in a separate building anyway.

I have generally been trying to avoid ORAS spoilers but when I saw that on Bulbapedia...
As for trainer customization... losing that doesn't bother me much. Seeing as Brendan and May are already pretty well established trainer characters, I can't really imagine wanting to alter them all that much. I must admit I do love dressing up my trainer in X&Y.

As for a 6th... idk, maybe Greninja, Charizard-Y, or or Mega Gengar or something. Those are all strong special attackers that'd probably add more coverage/diversity.

Trouble is my knowledge of the Pokemon Universe isn't too great beyond first gen and second gen, and even then it's hazy so I struggle to think of random pokemon to fix these problems.
Also is Trick Room the one that inverts speed?
I realise my team doesn't have a Mega type but I'm trying not to get too hung up on that so feel free to suggest something outside the Mega-range for the finale.
On that topic, I was chatting with my girlfriend a bit about that actually. She says she got turned off the competitive battling scene because Mega Transformations set such a strict metagame it just became less diverse and interesting. How do you feel on the matter?

I wouldn't say Megas are any more centralizing than any of the other stupidly overused Pokémon like Talonflame and Rotom-Wash. They make previously weak Pokémon useable again and I can only think of a couple instances where they got too overpowered (Lucario, Kangaskhan, Rayquaza).

Yeah, that's my feeling too. It's not like they're that much different from a regular new pokemon or evolution--especially the evolutions in later gens for pokemon in earlier gens. Some of the OP mega-evos for pokemon that were already OP were silly, but I feel like the mega-evos for the weaker/lesser used pokemon just added more diversity and versatility. After all, you're limited to 1 mega, but you're not required to use one.

Switch in on a non-Ghost Special Attacker, build CM boosts, Rest when your HP gets low, continue boosting until you get six off, Trick Room, sweep. Whichever attack you use is up to preference; Psychic has the highest base damage but Dark types are immune, Psyshock hits physical defense and has the same problem as Psychic, Dark Pulse doesn't hit as hard but has no immunities. Just watch out for priority physical attacks.

this one is also a lot less annoying to SR than the XY one since you don't have loser NPCs running up and begging you to hand over your legendary immediately after getting it
