boy do I love these Battle facilities

nothing says fun like putting a strong team together and climbing the ladder until all of a sudden the computer decides NO FUCK YOU, YOU'RE DONE

First enemy Pokémon is a Gengar

Hypnosis, it hits
I switch, its Dream Eater fails
Hypnosis, it hits
I switch, Dream Eater fails
Hypnosis, it hits because why WOULDN'T something with 55% accuracy hit three times in a row?
My entire team is now asleep and killed before I can land a single move

This sort of bullshit is exactly why Smogon enforces the sleep clause

Try GTSing a Ditto. Does that work?

Ah of course because without items you are basically boned or praying to chance.

It would, but nobody puts good, legit Dittos up on the GTS

Basically yeah, which is why nobody likes it

Yet people still pitch a fit over ORAS not having the Battle Frontier when it's the same exact cheating garbage as the other facilities only with slightly different rules

Heads-up/reminders for Sun/Moon players

The current global mission already met its goal so if you haven't signed up for it yet, do it before the 14th to get a ton of free FC

Also sign-ups for the next Battle Competition start next Thursday at 7 PM EST. Participation prizes are Mawile and Beedrill's Mega Stones; this is currently the only way to get those in Gen 7 and entry is limited to 50,000 players per age division, so make sure you sign up asap and play at least three battles if you want the stones

Now that I think of it, Lillie is like Wally, but not a Pokémon trainer. So not as good.

You mean a whiny little runt that thinks it's better than it is? Yes. Yes, they both are. But Wally was never good to begin with.

uh

what?

Overinflated ego is absolutely the last thing anyone should ever associate with Wally or Lillie, they both consider themselves weak and a liability, their entire stories are about learning to become strong enough to stand on their own

If anything, a whiny little runt that whines and thinks they're better than they actually are easily goes to Silver/Gen 2 Rival. Wally and Lillie are nothing like that.

So if I've got this right, you need (or needed) a foreign Ditto. Blah. Unfortunately, unless I'm mistaken, we're from the same country. Otherwise, I'd lend you mine.

"Ah! <player>! I bet you must be surprised to see me in a place like this! That promise that we made back then… Thank you for keeping your end of it. It was really all thanks to you that I could make it this far, <player>. It was only because I lost to you back then that I could become even stronger. I'm sure that you and your Pokémon must have had to overcome a lot, too… To make it all the way here. Right, <player>? Everyone's grown so much… And now we'll get to see just what we all can do. Standing here facing you again gives me chills… …But I won't give up! I won't lose anymore. My Pokémon have given me the courage and strength to fight. I have to win for their sake! So get ready… Here I come!" -Wally

Yeah. Your point? I don't like Wally to begin with - shilled way too much. "Oh, hey, you must be Wally. Better keep an eye on that kid, (player)." He helps him get a Pokémon, yet I - his goddamn kid - never got that help? I should've been raised with Pokémon, considering the player character is a goddamn GYM LEADER'S KID.
If you love Wally so much, DAD, why don't you adopt him!? *runs off in dramatic tears*

You get to start with Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip

Wally has to start with a frigging RALTS

What was that about favoritism again?

A weak character who lacks confidence in themselves becomes a strong character who gains confidence in themselves. Yep, sure hate characters like that. Can't stand them. Too whiny for my tastes. /sarcasm

If they are stealing MY spotlight, then yes.
Also, yes, they are whiny.

Ralts - and its evolutions - are freaking awesome.

But Ralts also only knows Teleport and Growl at the level he's caught. Can't even fight for itself.

And I guess we're looking at different characters, because Wally and Lillie never came across as whiny to me. I've seen far whinier characters in other media, heck, in this series. Going back to what I originally said, the rival, Silver, has been one of the whiniest characters in the series to date in my opinion. He goes on and on about how he's better than you then whines and complains when he loses. Whereas Wally only talks about wanting to get stronger when he's defeated. Am I just missing something?

I'll admit Wally is far from my favorite character in the series, but whiny is something he is not. If anything, he comes off as the exact opposite.

No, Gardevoir is awesome

Ralts is hot garbage, especially in RSE

Have fun with all those Poochyenas in the first few routes

Also what Dulla said

Norman's basically like "Congrats on your first Pokémon! Now here's a few balls you can throw at full-health Zigzagoons and Wingulls until you finally catch something that can actually fight! Good luck!"
