I may not like it, but I sometimes end up distracted from the plot and don't care to advance because I am trying to get a highscore or am simply having too much fun playing a minigame the game is offering. Sometimes referred to as getting distracted by the Golden Saucer, from Final Fantasy VII. Personally, I never paid much attention to the Golden Saucer - except the one time I tried to get enough points to get Aerith the beach parasol.

WHIZ! from Tales of Eternia.
I can't quite say why this minigame was so cool for me, but it was fun. A card game, where you match up elemental ones and can change the flow of the game. Once it was unlocked, I began to play that more and more instead of the plot. Though that might have to do with the fact that I found Eternia to be a little on the bland side...

Character Cards from Tales of Berseria.
I can't believe this minigame is as fun as I didn't expect it to be. You match cards of the same Tales Of games and getting certain sets gives you points, akin to poker, I suppose. I don't like the music playing that much, but when I figured out how to play, I got pretty addicted to it.

The Casino from Tales of Symphonia.
I'll admit that I am not that big of a fan here. I mostly focused on it to get the 250 Chips for the Devil Arm... I have yet to try to get the 150.000 Chips or so for Refill's outfit.

Taxi Driver in any GTA game.

Peaceful break from the usual chaos -- not to mention some extra cash.

Not technically a minigame but Final Fantasy XIV gave Bards a Perform action that lets you play music and it's made waiting for DPS queue times a lot less annoying.
