It's not like it's the end of the world if they call something something else.

Sorry that we're humans. Things happen.

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

Where can we post a debate about original characters in pairings? And also, original characters in general? I know I'm not the only one whose tried to discuss this, and am curious as to what forum is the proper forum to hold it in, if any. If not, can you direct us to an Ace Attorney fan website that allows these types of discussions? Thanks for your help in this matter, as I truly don't wish to come off as a rule-breaker, and I merely wanted to see who had at least heard of the fanfic, as hardly anyone will leave a comment on them at the art site they're hosted at, and I only know of a few who I can say for sure have seen them, but I know there are other people too. Thanks for your help in this matter.

I believe that an OC debate thread was in the (now locked) Interrogation Room. So you might be out of luck. If you really want to find one, though, you might want to use the search button at the top of the page.

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

To clarify whaty I was trying to debate on for anyone who was confused by it it was this. No, I was not trying to hold a debate about just my own fanfic and pairings. It may have seemed like that, but I was trying to hold a debate for anybody who puts their own original characters or "fan characters" in a pairing. What other Ace Attorney sites or clubs will allow this? Does anyone know? Thanks for any help!

Author:  Croik [ Wed Mar 19, 2008 12:15 am ]
Post subject:  Re: FAQ

We do not allow "debates" of original pairings, because like I explained when I closed your thread, it's pretty much impossible to properly debate something that one person has invented. However, we do support original characters in general. If you have a fanfic, or a sprite, or art of your original character, you are welcome to post it in the proper section (based on media) and talk about your character there.

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

Where can I do this? Do you know? I would like to know if there are sites besides here, that will allow it. I am not going to try and hold that sort of thing here. It is a general discussion of original characters, and any pairings that anyone, not just me, would like to discuss.

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

I did. It's also up on an art site. I hardly ever get replies or comments on it unless they specifically are talking to me about it, or are someone I know. It's in a club, but that club gets so much artwork it hardly gets noticed at all. Where else can I put it up or link to it? I'm having trouble getting people (besides about two that I know in person) who don't just download without saying anything on the art site, or they are being rude or they are taking my warning on the fanfic about something "bad" happening to their favorite character way too seriously. I was joking when I wrote it, and it wasn't that bad at all. Personally, I thought it was beneficial to the character in a twisted way that I like.

Author:  Croik [ Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:16 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: FAQ

If what you're really talking about is trying to get more coverage for your original character, I'm afraid there's not much else you can do other than present your work and hope people like it, just like everyone else does. "I'm not getting enough feedback" is a problem every fan creator faces. And to be very honest, if the fanfic in which your OC appears is not enough to endear people to her character, I seriously doubt that any amount of debate on the subject will change their minds.

But hey, Court Records is actually going to be hosting an Original Character contest very soon. If what you really want is to give your character more coverage in the fandom, that might be the best way to do it. Keep an eye on the front page, as I'm planning on announcing it as soon as I get the rules written up.

YES! I'll be watching!

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

Thanks! I'll be sure to watch for it! It's a self-insert, except the character is a deviation of myself making her original. Perhaps that can get it noticed.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but how come I've been getting all those Internal Error messages? You know, the eyehurting white screen that sometimes comes up on CR.

Sometimes my posts don't go through then and I can't even explore the forum. It gets annoying and in the way.

Double post. -.-

EDIT: Ugh, I got it again.

Quote:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@forums.court-records.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

That's what I get.

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

500 Errors are, as they say, server screw-ups.

Considering how the bugs show up, and the fact that it rarely affects the Index page, I'm guessing the problem is the server database's post timestamps are not being saved and retrieved correctly. The only place that information isn't queried by the server is - you guessed it - the Index. ;D

(Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.)

^^ How the hell did you get so smart? :meekins: You must teach me all you know. Can I be your apprentice? ^_^

Haha, just joking. I never usually see the errors on the index page, though as you said. It's usually everywhere else in the forum, especilaly when I'm posting :payne:
Is there something that can be done about this though?

Only by an admin - and that's assuming the problem is to do with the skin and not the server itself.

If it's an actual server fault, then it depends entirely on how much access the CR crew has to the server settings. :/

So I've got a question. Every time a message is in my PM outbox, does that mean it has yet to be sent because either a) it takes a second or b) the user isn't online? I've sent a couple PMs to a certain someone over a month ago, and they never replied and the messages are still in my outbox. And according to the profile, they haven't logged on since either.

It means they haven't opened them yet if they are still in the outbox.

It has been sitting there for months now...
Since December... I'll still hold out faith... and go for the record of the longest time a message has been waiting. XD
