Anoyne think anime is getting very costly I mean for the price of one full season of say naruto or bleach I could buy 2 season of battlestar galactica or csi ^^:

Having said that I live in the uk and i find it cheaper to import anime for example Shakugan no shana season 1 is the uk costs £25-40 where as importing it brand new (dvd and blu day combi pack) was £15. Also eacdh season of original yu gi oh anime going for £20 per set

Cost? What cost? I watch my anime online. :gant:
Well okay I had the Escaflowne series (I... sold it by now) but that was bought during a sale that a store had so it was cheaper. I forget what a DVD cost when I bought the overall anime ones... something like 20€ or a bit more?

Back when people still used VHS, anime used to be $30-40 for one tape (usually $5-10 more if you wanted it subbed) and you were lucky to get more than an hour on it.

Even today, Japanese new releases hardly ever give more than two to three episodes per disc for about the same price as those old VHS tapes.

Anime is probably never going to be cheaper than live-action shows due to licensing fees, translation costs, hiring voice actors to dub it, etc., but it's still a lot cheaper than it used to be.

LOL fair point I don't have access to internet at home ^^;.

Mind you when I first bought anime it was £20 for 4 episode disc yet now for that price you can get full season , can't grumble I guess

Really? My brother had two VHS tapes of El Hazard's anime version and each of them had 4 episodes on them. The previews and ads were in German, but I'm pretty sure the episodes were Japanese with sub...

It varied by publisher; I believe Pioneer was a little more generous than most companies.

IIRC, El Hazard was more of a late 90's release as well, which was about the time you could start getting more episodes per tape.

Of course, it could vary by region, too. Are you talking European releases or American?

Anime's always expensive, that's why I never buy them. It's like, $60 a volume from what I've seen. (and complete sets are like, $110 each, so I never really buy them anymore.)

I always watch my anime online, hue. :godot:
