Florence spit out hot pieces of flame toward the Pidgey. They hit, causing the Pidgey to take a lot of damage. It was severely weakened. "Pidgey, use Tackle!" The Pidgey gathered all of it's strength and tackled the small fox. It waa a light hit, however, and Florence almost immediately recovered. |

Florence ran up to the Pidgey and lunged at it, scratching it as he flew by. The Pidgey fell out of the air and crashed into the ground, defeated. The boy frowned a bit. "Pidgey, Return!" He called while holding out a poke ball. The pidgey was sucked into the poke ball. (Florence is now Lv. 6) was heard from Basir's Pokedex. The boy took out another poke ball and threw it, causing a Rattata (Lv. 4) to appear. |

"Good work Florence. You may rest now." Florence nodded accordingly and layer by his trainer's side. It'd be a good idea if I get Teri some experience as a battler... "Now it's your turn, Teri." The little Pidgey materialized from outside his Pokeball. Bauer used his Pokedex to check the level and moves that his Pokemon knows. (Your Pidgey, Teri, knows the move Tackle. It's at level 2.) Ok, maybe it's best if I wait a little before I actually battle with Teri. "Alright Teri, it looks like you are, er, not quite ready yet. Return." The Pokeball took Teri back in. Basir decided to send Florence back out. |

"Scared, huh? Then we'll take the first move! Rattata, Tackle!" The Rattata then ran and crashed into Florence, knocking him back a few feet. |

Fennekin recovered, and spat out more flames at the Rattata. It hit right in the weak spot, and Rattata was burned. The boy was a bit horrified at what just happened. "Come on, Rattata! Use Tackle!" The Rattata complied, but was weakened badly by the burn. Rattata tackled Florence, but it was barely enough to send him back a foot or two. |

After easily shaking off the hit it was given, Florence regained his composure. Basir commanded Florence to finish off the Rattata with a Scratch. |

Florence walked up to the Rattata, and scratched it. Along with the burn, the Rattata gave up and collapaed onto the floor. Florence had won. The boy recalled his pokemon. He then walked up to Basir and handed him 256¥. "But I won last time..." the boy said as he walked away, a confused look on his face. After making sure everyone was ok, Akashi led the group forward. They traversed the grass path with no problem, but were encountered by another boy as soon as they got out of the grass. He was different, however as he wore a straw hat and had a bug net. "You're scaring away all the bug pokemon! I challenge you to a battle!" He declared, pointing a finger at Anya. |

"I'm scaring the bug pokemon away? Are you sure they're not scared of you?" Anya asked. "Hmph. Whatever. I accept your challenge!" Anya grabbed a pokeball. "Go, Sentret!" She threw the pokeball and Sentret was sent out. |

The boy sent out a Caterpie (Lv. 3) "Caterpie, use String Shot!" The small caterpillar spat out silk towards Sentret, wrapping it and reducing it's mobility a bit. |

"Sentret, use Scratch!" Anya commanded. Sentret, though slowed down from the String Shot, approached Caterpie and attempted to scratch it. |

The Caterpie tried to dodge, but was still hit. "Caterpie! Use Tackle!" The Caterpie then tackled Sentret, sending it back towards Anya. Sentret recovered quickly, however. |

"Are you okay, Sentret?" Anya asked. "Sentret!" Sentret replied. "Okay. Use Scratch again!" Anya said. Sentret approached Caterpie again to land another blow. |

The Caterpie was caught slightly off guard, and took the Scratch head on. The Caterpie was noticably weaker, but was still determined to keep going. "Caterpie, use String Shot again!" The Caterpie once again shot silk out at Sentret, but Sentret anticipated it and dodged it. |

The Caterpie watched as Sentret approached it. It made no attempt to dodge, and took attack head on. The end result was a defeated Caterpie. The boy recalled his Caterpie as Anya's Pokedex chirped that her Sentret was at Lv. 4 now. The boy then brought out another poke ball and sent out... another Caterpie (Lv. 3) |

"Another Caterpie?" Lucy muttered, not realizing she had said it out loud. (I never did understand the reasoning behind having multiple Pokémon of the same type--let alone more than one of the exact same Pokémon. It's practically asking your opponent to send out the one Pokémon that has the advantage over both of them. I wonder if Anya realizes Cyan would... well, no, Cyan doesn't know any Fire moves yet... Besides, that Sentret needs training, too.) |

The move connected strongly, and sent the Caterpie back a couple feet. "Caterpie, use Tackle!" The Caterpie recovered and jumped at Sentret, crashing into it and sending it back a few feet. Sentret was noticably tired and struggled to get up. |

(Ooh, that looks bad. Can Sentret take another hit?) "Sen . . . tret . . . ," Sentret panted. (Maybe, but I shouldn't risk it.) "Sentret, return!" Anya said. The red beam shot from Sentret's pokeball, returning the Pokemon. "Alright. Go, Weedle!" Weedle was sent out. |

The boy looked extremely happy when Weedle came out. "Is that a Weedle?! That's so cool!" He then shook his head after remembering he was in the middle of a battle. "Caterpie, use Tackle!" The Caterpie then ran and tackled Weedle, knocking it back. It quickly recovered, however. |

The Weedle crawled quickly and jumped at the Caterpie, hitting it with the stinger on its head. The Caterpie flew back and crashed into the ground. The Caterpie did not get up, meaning Weedle had won. The boy recalled his pokemon, handed Anya 192¥ and left without a word. (Weedle is now Lv. 5) Anya's Pokedex had said. |

Akashi nodded. The group moved forward, finally coming to a sign saying they were entering Route 31. The sun was high in the sky as they pushed on. (afternoon) The group walked through the grass with nothing threatening them. After navigating through the grass, the group came upon a cave. "Dark Cave" Akashi said, reading the sign next to the cave. |

"I think it would be best if Cyan and I lead the way through the cave so if it really is so dark in there, we can use the flames that sometimes shoot out his back to light our path." "Cynda!" "Is that the cave's name or just a warning that it's dark inside?" Lucy asked. (And if it's anything like the caves in Sinnoh, it will probably be teeming with Zubat. Still, it's probably cooler in there, so I suppose I can't complain.) |

Akashi agreed. Anya and Cyan led the way into the cave. When they walked in, the group could barely see a thing. Cyan's flame was providing barely enough light to allow the group to see each other. "Well... er, I don't think we should progress with such little light..." Akashi said. |

"Are there any other paths to Violet City?" Lucy asked. "I don't think Professor Elm mentioned having to go through a cave to get there..." She paused. "And if this is the only path, I'm in favor of going back to Cherrygrove City and seeing if someone would be willing to lead us through here." |

"I thought we wanted Route 31," Lucy said, walking toward the cave's exit. "Route 29 is between New Bark Town and Cherrygrove City, right?" She checked her Pokégear. "Yes, Route 31. Also, it looks as though Violet City's just a short walk to the west." |

I'm afraid I don't know that much about what there is to see in Johto. I mean, I know about Mt. Silver and those two towers in Ecruteak City, but that's all I can remember." |

Akashi nodded, "There's plenty of things to see in Johto! National Park, Lake of Rage..." he looked around. "Well, there's not much more to do here. Come on, let's go." Akashi began to walk out when he accidentally tripped over something. "Ow! What the?" What Akashi saw before him, was a Geodude (Lv. 4) that didn't look to pleased with being disturbed. "Geez... alright. Lily, can you do it?" Lily nodded as Akashi put her down. Akashi then whispered something to Lily, and she smiled as she understood what he said. The Chikorita then walked towards the Geodude. She stopped, and waited. The Geodude then began to hurtle itself at her, but just as it was about to hit, Lily produced a leaf from her forehead and threw it at the Geodude, sending it back a few feet. The Geodude was severely hurt since the move was super-effective, but still managed to get up. Akashi smirked and then threw a poke ball at it. Geodude was sucked up into the ball, which then hit the ground. One. Two. Three. Click. Geodude was caught. "Alright!" Yelled Akashi as he picked up the ball. "I'm going to name it... Gem." |

"I know that there was the Bellsprout Tower in Violet City. I remember going there once when I was little on a trip down from Goldenrod City. Other than that, there's obviously the gym in Violet City." |

Anya didn't like the darkness around her as she tried to progress. All she could really see were rocks. "Gah! Let's head back. No matter where we go, it's bound to be more interesting than this cave," Anya said, folding her arms. Though, in all honesty, she was not as much bored as she was frustrated that she couldn't progress very far. "Cynda!" "Right?" Anya asked with a chuckle. She also headed toward the exit. And then Akashi caught Geodude. "Good job, Akashi. Let's get out of here! I'm sure someone in Violet City can tell us what all there is to see and do around there." She quickened her pace. |
