Satoshi sat silent taking it all in. Finally, he put his cup down.

"Is Lida Rose your actual name? This is a lot of stuff to hear at once. But you were right to lie. I would have done the same." He stood up and, with a sudden burst of courage, he hugged her. "You've been through a lot of crap, and I'm glad you told me it all. I should like you less for confessing to killing someone, but... your honesty has made me like you more. I can see why people want to kill you. You... you have a lot of enemies all because you saved one person, and because of the past. It isn't right. You killed the man because he was going to kill your sister! All these people deserve to be shot and killed!" Satoshi started sobbing, but it wasn't out of fear for once. For once, it was pure courage. He needed to protect Lida, or whatever her name was. "You've probably held this in for ages, and you confess! And to me, of all people! Because you clearly trust me, and because you're honest, I shall help you!" He thought for a second. "Someone tried to shoot me at the park on the way. Some mysterious person saved me, but then she disappeared, as if she never existed! I... was at risk. The truth is, it got me worried about you, and about you worrying about me. I couldn't allow you to fret over little old me, so I kept it secret, but you must know! Lida, you are my only friend, and apparently, you are also one of the few people I can trust. Nobody ever confesses to anything bad, which is why this is an evil, evil, world that needs fixed. You are... I... " He couldn't confess this last part. He couldn't admit how much he admired and loved her.

((I...Kinda made all that up except my getting someone arrested before and my sister hating liars. Haha...sorry. Another long post.))

"...No, Lida Rose isn't my actual name," Lida answered. "I actually got the idea from a musical I had participated in." She wagged her index finger. "But does a name really matter that much?" Satoshi told her she was right to lie. That he would have done the same. Lida smiled and shook her head. It was hard to imagine Satoshi even coming close to the same situation. But then he...hugged her. Lida didn't hug back right away because she was a little surprised. Satoshi didn't usually seem to enjoy hugs. The last time they did that was...pretty undeniably awkward for him. She did hug him back after a moment, and then Satoshi started sobbing after talking about how it wasn't right that she had so many enemies. Then he proceeded to tell her about his little incident in the park.
"Hm...I knew something had happened. This isn't good," Lida said. "The enemy, whoever they are, has already identified you as someone close to me...That leaves us with a couple of options. The first is for you to break all connections with me. Go move away somewhere. Start another life. Or stay in some sort of safe house. Live essentially the same life you have been living before you met me. That is the first option. The biggest problem with it, besides all the feelings hurt and the heartbreak, would be that I'm pretty sure it's too late for it now. And if I lost all connection with you, then I wouldn't know for sure whether or not you're safe.
"The second option may be worse or better...You claim I am your only friend...I'm afraid I'll have to keep in touch with you day in and day out with this option. You don't go anywhere without me and police escorts. This way, I can protect you from any danger that may befall you. But this one is definitely more risky. Your life, Satoshi, will be at risk almost all the time. Strange vehicles following us...almost getting shot down in the park...these kinds of things will become a regular occurrence." Lida averted her eyes. "Then there's a middle ground: you get escorted by the police everywhere and I call you every five minutes to make sure you're okay. Well, maybe not every five minutes, but still...pretty frequently. It's my fault you're in any danger, so it's my responsibility to make sure you get through this, no matter what that entails. So, unless you have any other ideas...Which option is best for you?" Lida felt her stomach squeeze. That's right. It was her fault. Her fault her brother was killed...her fault Satoshi was in danger...Again, Lida thought about giving herself up. She'd sooner die than let anyone else close to her be killed. She waited for Satoshi's response. She had wanted him to finish his sentence, but it was clear he wouldn't. Not yet, anyway.

Satoshi listened intently once again. But he didn't like either idea. He couldn't just leave Lida, but... he wanted to live a normal life. He needed to decide on the spot. He had to. No wasting time by thinking. He had to be instant. "Lida, I don't know which one to choose, because either way, it's bad... But I cannot abandon you. I...I...must stick with you until the end. If it's ok, may I move in with you? This way, we have permanent watch on me from the escorts and you..." He finally let go of her and stared out the window. "Does this mean we'll never be able to hang out properly again?"

"I know...I wish I could come up with other solutions," Lida said, averting her eyes. She was sure she knew which one Satoshi would pick...He would find normal life something he couldn't refuse. Who wouldn't choose normal over her?
"But I cannot abandon you. I...I...must stick with you until the end. If it's okay, may I move in with you?" Lida couldn't help herself from gasping. She hadn't expected him to ask that at all. She had expected him to say he couldn't abandon his normal life...
"..." was her brilliant and articulate response.
"This way, we have permanent watch on me from the escorts and you..." Lida nodded. It was true that he would have that.
"W-well, if you're absolutely sure that's what you want..." she replied. "I can have your stuff over here within the hour."
"Does this mean we'll never be able to hang out properly again?" A small shadow of a smile crossed Lida's lips.
"That depends. Do you want me to tell the truth, or do you want me to lie?" she asked. She remembered asking that same question earlier that night, after Satoshi asked her if he'd ever see her again. Now it seemed he would never be out of her sight again. Poor guy. If only a middle ground was possible in a situation like this.

"That depends. Do you want me to tell the truth, or do you want me to lie?"
Satoshi sighed. He sat down and put his head in his hands. "I would rather you told me the truth. Though any more might break me. This is all too much for me. I knew I should have done what sis said, and worked for her business. Then... then I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be forced to hear all these truths. I wouldn't have my life on the line, or have to try and protect you. But on the other hand, I'd never of met you. My life would be normal, it would be complete, it would be..." He searched in his head for the word. "Boring." He grinned at this, until finally realising that he was speaking aloud. He thought everything he just said was interior monologue after Lida's question. He started to blush furiously, and then it got worse as he realised that he had hugged her, he had talked to her bravely, he had asked to move in with her. This was madness! This was what insecure people like him weren't like. He was shy! Who was this person, and why was he in Satoshi's body? No Satoshi, you're still you. You're just... not normal right now. This infatuation has changed you. Try and overcome it!

Lida patiently listened to Satoshi's thinking aloud.
"...Well, okay. So, honesty. Honestly, we might be able to hang out normally...when we're really old," she said with a small smile. Then she became serious. "The option of leaving still stands...You don't need to protect me..." She then smiled again. "This life might prove to be too un-boring for you." She looked at Satoshi blush...turning redder and redder. He looked as if he was partly panicking as well. Lida walked up to Satoshi, placing her hand on his shoulder. "You will be in constant danger, as I said before. However, I won't allow anything too terrible to happen to you." She smiled. "I'll make the call to get your stuff...If you still want me to, that is."

"I-I'll stay... I have to... You-you changed me, and turned me into something I'm no-o-o-ot, so I ha-have to. I can't change back..." Satoshi frowned at Lida, and tried to hold in tears. "Ma-make the c-ca-call..." He tried to appear happy, but mucked up and looked even more of a wreck than earlier. He just couldn't cope loving a woman. It was so odd. He couldn't cope living with the woman he loved. He couldn't be involved in a relationship at all. Quietly, he whispered his thought out to try and get rid of this suffering: "I love you..."

Lida saw Satoshi frown, tears in his eyes, as he stuttered about her turning him into someone he wasn't, and how he could never change back. She shook her head and smiled softly.
"Satosh..." she stopped, not sure what to say. Had she really caused him to change so completely as he described? She eventually gave up and started dialing the number, only to hear a soft whisper.
"I love you..." Lida froze. Did he...want her to hear that? What if he didn't? Oh, but what if he did? What was she supposed to do? Did she acknowledge it and say what she felt about him? Or did she not say anything at all? She blushed slightly, trying to decide what to do. Finally, she finished dialing and waited for someone to pick up. Once they did, she said, "Hey. I need you to move some stuff for Satoshi...Yes, to here...Yes, immediately...Very well, thank you." Lida hung up her phone and looked at Satoshi. "They'll be here in forty-five minutes." She fiddled with her hair uncomfortably. Nervously. Finally, she took a deep breath. There was no harm in telling him, was there? She tried to come up with something intellectual to say. But all she could come up with was, "I love you, too, Satoshi." And that's exactly what she said, loud and clear.

Lida made the call. Satoshi blushed at the whisper, hoping Lida never noticed. "I love you, too, Satoshi." Satoshi was taken aback. He fell off his chair and started to panic. His one and only love, the one who changed him in a way he didn't want, and the one who made him infatuated loved him. How should I react? I know. I'll act in whatever way my body acts...

He fainted.

"Satoshi? Don't panic, I..." she began as Satoshi fell off his chair and panicked. But it was too late. The poor guy passed out. Lida felt a twinge of fear as she walked over to his unconscious body. Without a word, she took his pulse. It was going fast. Too fast. At this rate, he'd make himself brain damaged. Lida sighed, with a slight smile.
"I knew you hadn't changed," she said just before getting up and grabbing some more water for her guest. She came back into the room and forced Satoshi's mouth open slightly, pouring some water into it. And to think she was wondering what the worst that could happen when she admitted her feelings to him. Now, she was thinking this was probably about the worst reaction possible, short of his heart completely stopping.

The water woke Satoshi up. "Mhhhh what happened? Hi-i LiiiiDAAAA!" He remembered. He swallowed and blushed furiously. "So-sorry about fainting, so-sorry about the whispers, so-sorrry..." He couldn't move anything but his mouth. He was paralysed with fear, and Lida was leaning over him. He didn't know what to do. "Why did you lie like that? You can't love me; I have no... re...de-ee-deeming factors... But what I said wa-was true. I think I'm infatuated with you. I've never felt love, but it's true. I just see something attractive in you..." He sweated a bit and gave a small loving smile. "I've never thou-ought of anyone like I've thought of you. You're the only person who's ever been kind to me..."

"Shhh. You don't have to apologize for anything, Satosh," Lida said in response to his apologizing. Then he asked why she would lie about loving him back.
"Do you think I'm a liar?" Lida asked. "Because I would never lie about a thing like that. You have plenty of great qualities. Let's see, if you really do require a list..." she blushed. "You're smart, witty, good-humored, caring, honest, kind, gentle...do I really need to continue?" She smiled and shook her head. "If there's anything I hate, it's when people tell me what I can't do. You say I can't love you, but I do. I mean...I..." She twiddled her thumbs and blushed even harder. "I...Even love how timid you are...and, I love that, despite your fears, you are probably one of the bravest men I have ever met." She blushed even harder as Satoshi went on to describe how he felt about her. "...The only person who's ever been kind to you?" She gulped. "That's not right. A nice guy like you, never having anyone return his courtesy? Yeesh. Reminds me of my somewhat crazy uncle. He can remember everything anyone has ever said to him, and now he's just...Well, obsessive, and negative...nice, but...kinda crazy. If only someone had been nice to him, then..." She trailed off, then looked back into Satoshi's eyes. "I'm sorry. This is about you and me right now...It just irks me that few people have a little thing called common courtesy." She smiled wistfully as she recalled being lectured on so-called common sense and common courtesy by someone who should have practiced what they preached.

Satoshi listened to the list and blushed even more. "Thank... you. I shouldn't have assumed that... you coudln't love me. You're very kind..." She started a story about her uncle and he laughed. "It's true. My parents thought I was an idiot, my sister doesn't like me after..." he didn't finish the sentence. "I was bullied at school. Every girl I had a crush on destroyed me. My professors think I'm dumb because of how many times I need to sit my exam. How I passed my exam to be a lawyer so young and so well, I don't know... But the point is, you came into my life and changed it. I-I have something to confess. The night I met you, I was out for only one reason. I was out to kill myself. I was going to walk until I got to somewhere cold, and give myself pneumonia. My family knew this. They weren't even going to stop me! No! All mum and dad said was: "if you feel that's the right thing to do, then do it. We won't miss you." And my sister never even replied!" He started to cry. "Until I met you, my life wasn't worth living..."

Meanwhile, on Satoshi's phone there was a text:
"Sorry about the late reply but I hope you haven't offed yourself. I love you brother, and I apologise for all my actions. I've never hated you ever. You are my brother, and I care about you. What you did for me all those years ago seemed bad, but I see the good side now. Satoshi, don't kill yourself. Love, Sabrina."

((I hope I managed to make that sweet and emotional. I've never been an emotional writer, so I may have failed. But I tried at least. =D Oh, and my story's nothing like your's. There's tension between the siblings over an incident, but that's it.))

"Don't thank me. I was just being honest," Lida said. Then she listened to Satoshi tell her about how everyone really had seemed to dislike him. And how he was considering suicide before meeting her.
"S-suicide?" she asked. "Oh, Satoshi...it can't be...it's...um..." She was trying to come up with something to say. "Your sister...she owns a business, right? I'm sure she was just busy..." Lida doubted what she said was true, but she wouldn't show it as she bent closer to Satoshi and hugged him. "I'm sorry to hear that..."

"She's a busy woman, and she wanted me to work for her because... she needed someone to do something. It's going bankrupt, and that's why she asked me to help. So because it's going bankrupt, she's giving up on it, and isn't busy at all..." Satoshi frowned. Then he was suddenly hugged by Lida. "You don't need to be sorry. I was letting you know so you knew why I loved you and how... You don't need to feel sorry." Then something came into him. He suddenly moved his face forward, and pecked Lida on the lips. Then he shook in fear. He didn't mean to kiss her, but for some reason he did. He blamed the testosterone. But I love you. And you love me. So why am I so scared? She's the love of your life! Show it!

She wasn't usually one to flounder for words, but she couldn't help it. This was one of the few times she had no idea what to say. "I...Just want to right all the wrongs of this world, you know? I mean, I know I can't, but..." And that's when Satoshi unexpectedly pecked her on the lips. She blushed deeply and averted her eyes slightly. "Er...Now I forgot what I was going to say..." she admitted pathetically.

"Sorry..." Satoshi looked and felt guilty. "That was jerkish of me. I never even thought of you or what you would be saying, all I was thinking was kissing you. I'm a douchebag. Why should you love someone who'll interrupt what you're saying? It's very rude, and I-I shouldn't have done it..." He tried to think of a bright side. "Tha-that was my first ki-kiss... And I didn't wa-waste it. I was saving my lips for someone special, and... the ri-right person got them." He smiled at her and finally decided to make a comment on their positions. "I think we should move. I'm on the floor thanks to collapsing, and you're on top of me because of the hu-ug. What if the movers or policemen come in? They'll think it was worse than a hug and a ki-kiss..."

"W-what? N-no! That wasn't jerky of you at all! And you're not a douchebag! Now stop with the inferiority complex," Lida said. "A-ah...Sorry for the outburst. I just...if anyone insults someone close to me, I tend to lose my cool. Er...Even if the person insulting them is themselves..." She blushed again as Satoshi told her that he was saving his first kiss for someone special, and she was it. "Er...It's my second kiss...but the first one I've actually enjoyed. Heh, heh..." She rubbed the back of her neck. Then, Satoshi commented on their positions, and Lida threw her arms in the air.
"O-oh! Yeah. They would assume something worse, those pervs. Ahaha..." She scrambled to her feet, then extended an arm to help Satoshi up.

Satoshi grabbed at the arm and let Lida help him up. He laughed modestly. "Any re-reasonable person would think that. Not just pervs." Then he grinned. "So, erh, where am I sleeping? Please don't make it be the couch..." He tried to laugh at this, but it was the truth. He hated sleeping on the couch: he had to when visiting any of his family. At least his sister had the excuse of having a family that took up the other rooms. His parents just didn't wnat him anywhere near them. What was it with them and disliking him? He never knew. "But yeah, I think I might need to see my room. Because it's, erh, a bit to early for us to... uhm... share one." He blushed. Of course it's too early you fool! Why are you even thinking of that!

Lida raised an eyebrow.
"A couch isn't the worst place to sleep. Try a stuffy camper outside without so much as a fan on hot summer nights. Now that's a pretty uncomfortable place to sleep," Lida answered with a giggle. "But I would be a terrible hostess if I were to force you to sleep on the couch..." She frowned with concentration. "Ah, you can take the guest bedroom if you want. It's very simple, but with your stuff coming in...And the bed should be large enough. It was able to fit my giant of a brother, after all." Lida chewed her lip as she thought of her brother yet again. Could she really let someone else sleep there so soon? It wasn't like he didn't own his own house...He wasn't always staying over. Just...sometimes. It's a guest bedroom! It's for any guest. Snap out of it. "Um...Sh-share a room? Yeah, it is a bit early. Besides, you wouldn't want to share a room with me. I tend to squirm around a lot in my sleep." She laughed. "Anyway, right this way. Oh, before I forget, what time is it?" She chuckled. She didn't really have clocks on the walls since she had poured more money into her security systems than anything else.

"1 PM," said Satoshi, looking at his watch. "Yawn, I didn't even notice that night go by. I don't even think I've eaten yet! Do you have stuff for brunch?" He grinned as his stomach rumbled. "Do you think that the movers will pick up my phone, I-I dropped it in a rush to see y-you..." He laughed at his stupidity.

"One o' clock pm?" Lida asked, dazed. She hadn't even noticed the night go by, and she was generally one of those early to bed, early to rise types.
"O-oh. Yeah. Of course! Let's see...I'll bet I have something..." she said, walking into the kitchen and digging through her cabinets. "Let's see...I have Bisquik. I can make us some pancakes. There should be bacon in the fridge...I also have a wide variety of cereal...Oh, sandwich stuff, too...I could make BLT's...Er...Whatever you'd like." She then turned back to Satoshi. "Oh, I'm sure the movers will bring your phone. I told them to bring everything."

Satoshi liked the sound of it all and ran off to the fridge. He was in a daze of love though, so he put the cereal in a sandwhich, and after cooking the bacon, he put it into a bowl and poured milk inside of the bowl. He sat down at the table and then realised what he was eating. "Oh God... Lida, I'm an idiot!" He quietly shouted. He sighed and then laughed at it. "Do you want a taste of my lunch?"

Lida chuckled.
"I'll have a cereal sandwich with milky bacon, please," she said between laughs. "Awww. It's okay, Satosh. I'll try it just for you!" Lida energetically grabbed the cereal sandwich and took a bite. "Mmm...Carbohydrates..." Lida said through a really dry mouth. She quickly took a bite of the milky bacon and swallowed everything down at once. Then, she coughed. "Well, uh...Your stomach won't tell the difference...Heh, heh...I'll just...make some chocolate chip pancakes." She darted into the kitchen and started making her pancakes.

Satoshi grinned at the idea of pancakes. Ever since he was a kid, he had pancakes. His sister made them when she was looking after him while his parents were at work, and he started making them himself when they all had to work. Though he did wonder why Sabrina was missing school just to look after him.

"Oh, they're here! Well, that was fast," Lida said, not suspicious as much as ecstatic. Everything seemed to be going right. She quickly flipped her pancakes before running through the door and looking through the peephole. Nothing seemed out of place...Well, there was one thing that Lida noted, and that was that neither Fred or Greg were by the door, but other than that, the moving truck and the movers appeared in order. She opened the door to sign for Satoshi's stuff.

"'ello Miss Rose. 'ill that be all?" asked a stereotypical mover. "Just sign 'ere and we'll bring your stuff in." He grinned a gummy grin with a couple of teeth, one of which was golden. He pulled a clipboard and paper out of his pocket somehow, and then gave her a pen with the clipboard and paper.

Satoshi started re-flipping the pancakes. He continued to do this until they were ready and then through one onto a plate and ate it like a pig. He continued to rip it apart while Lida was handed the pen and paper. He continued to chew and walked to the door. "Wow, you were-om-quick." He swallowed the pancake and looked at the size of the van. "Do you gu-guys want a little help?"

"Thank you, Sir," Lida said. There was something about that smile that tugged at her memory, but she ignored it as she grabbed the clipboard and signed in her neat cursive. Then, she turned to Satoshi and chuckled, noting that he wasn't quite finished with his pancake when he walked to the door.

"No, thanks," said the other mover to Satoshi. "If we were to accept your 'elp, we might as well tell our boss ter pay you instead of us." He tipped his hat and started walking towards the van, giving the other mover a very subtle wink.

Satoshi nodded at this. He walked back through to the kithcen, and continued flipping Lida's pancake.

The other mover leant into the van and carried a couple of boxes. Once he got to the door he put them down, which he shouldn't have, opened the top box and took out a gun.

"Long time no see, guv'nor. Now, put your hands up. Your death shall be quick and painless. Don't worry, Bob's gettin' your boyfriend. He won't be killed. He'll just be comatose. Heheheh!" He grinned an ugly grin. "You killed our good ol' friend, and that's unacceptable. Any last words?"

"Ngh..." Lida said, visibly paling. She shakily rose her hands, cursing herself for not having her gun on her.
"Er...Yes, I do have some last words..." she choked out, tapping her foot against the porch. She smiled very slightly to herself. This activated her security systems, which actually worked in several ways. If anyone touched anything in the house save for those with preregistered fingerprints like Satoshi, they would receive an electric shock. Good thing Satoshi made that messed up cereal sandwich and milk bacon earlier, thereby leaving his fingerprints, or that would have hurt him, too. The next thing was that the infrared censors were turned on, so a loud noise would go off as soon as someone triggered them. This may hurt Satoshi as much as it helped him, but it would break the concentration of whoever was trying to hurt him, and that would at least buy him time. Finally, the security cameras were all turned on, and they were all hidden, so the whole thing would be caught on video.
"There are...too many witnesses here," she continued.

"Sh'yuck, sh'yuck, sh'yuck," laughed the "mover". "Too many? There's none! Everyone else is gone! We made sure that they'd all be away." He nodded. "And the police? They're not coming!"

Fred and Greg were hiding up the stairs, talking. They recognised the gang members straight away, and knew to hind their covers. "Greg, have you got the sniper rifle with you? You need to shoot Bright Eyes George before he shoots Miss Rose!" Greg looked through his bag and assembled it. He aimed it at George when suddenly a loud noise arrived, and Greg shot by accident and hit the window of the house opposite. "Crap!"

Lida felt herself grow cold. Made sure no one would be there? As in...kidnapping them? Killing them?! No, it couldn't be that bad. Perhaps they just...sent them away somehow?
"Urk..." The police not coming? What was that supposed to mean? What about Fred and Greg? It was then it hit her. This guy didn't know about the two officers stationed to protect her! But if she said anything, she might blow their cover. If only there was some way...The alarm in her house went off, and she heard shattering glass. That was her chance. She lunged at the "mover", wrestling him for his gun.

"'Ello," the "mover" said, setting his box down. "Jus' needed a lil' rest 'ere..." He opened up the box and pulled out a crowbar, swinging it at Satoshi's head.

The "mover" collapsed as Lida grabbed the gun. "Oh screw you!" He aimed a punch at her stomach, and then kicked her in the groin.

Satoshi suddenly heard an alarm noise and it frightened him enough to duck out of instinct. Then he saw the crowbar. Straight away, he grabbed it and did a small tug-o-war with it and the "mover". "You... you're after her, aren't you? Well, you... won't... hurt... MY... LIIIIIIDA!" He pulled the crowbar as hard as he could.

"Screw me? You'd like that, wouldn't you? Haha...Ow," Lida let out a groan as she was punched in the stomach and kicked in the groin, trying to keep a hold of the gun. Even though her life was in danger, she could barely do anything. She scratched his arm with her long finger-nails, hoping that would loosen his grip on the gun so she could take it.

Bob let go of the crowbar, allowing Satoshi to just fall wherever he may. He was pulling pretty hard, after all. He'd fall over, and that was when Bob could attack his body from the ground.
"Sh'yuck, sh'yuck. I'm not after Lida, although I do wish I was the one killin' 'er. I'm after you."

The first mover was in pain thanks to the scratch and let go of the gun. "Oh crap. Don't do anything you'll regret, little lady..."

Satoshi started to tumble, but he grabbed onto the nearest table to steady himself. "Why... would you want to go after me? WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO KILL LIDA!?" Satoshi charged at the "mover" with the crowbar and was about to smack him with it. "LEAVE NOW OR I WILL BASH YOUR HEAD IN!" Rage. Determination. 2 feelings Satoshi hadn't felt since... that time. This was so similar as will. He protected his sister in a similar way, and there was no way he'd let these "movers" do to Lida what that man was going to do to his sister. "LEAVE. NOW. OR I WILL KILL YOU."

The mover backed out slowly, and then ran out, forgetting about his partner. "I'LL BE BACK!"

Satoshi took the punch hard. He collapsed onto the floor, and dropped the crowbar. "I'm not a pussy! And she was protecting her sister! For insulting us both... you shall feel my wrath!" Satoshi quickly got up, and upercutted Bob with full strength. Suddenly he remembered his pacifism, and instictively apologised. "I'm sorry. Wait, what am I saying?" He kicked Bob a few times and then quickly ran out of the room, looking for Lida to see if she was safe.
