Lucky grimaced and shuffled somewhat uncomfortably. Didn't do his heart well to know that should two folks take issue with him they could easily cash him out if they so wished.

Don't matter much to me, sounds like someone would really need to go all in if they wanted to play a hand like that.

He shook his head disapprovingly, more questions needed asking.

How about folks who don't get through the doors? Will they just be stuck here in this corridor?

Over in the corner, Neptune was already writing up calculations.

That's all well and good, but how about an alternate suggestion. Might not be well for everyone but you been doing a lot of planning lately, sometimes you gotta take control yourself.

Door 3:
Giggles
Trace
Me
Cesar

Door 6:
Jumpfight
Cold
Ami
Nanjo
Jesus

Plus I like travelling with my current entourage just now as is.

Lucky spread his arms gesturing to Cesar and Trace, his current "teammates".

I agree to test my bracelet.

Wow, Zero and his/her accomplice, assuming there is at least one, could kill one of us at basically any time.

The fact that Zero likely will be able to get what he or she wants out of this Two-door crossroads makes me a little uneasy as well.

I'll hold off on voting for a proposal for now for that reason.

The entire room remained silent and eventually Trace lost his reference to time. Before he knew it, it was time to go through the elevators.

Whoa, hey. A lot of stuff just got thrown around. I'm still getting used to this Tracing thing. If I understand correctly, we gotta do digital roots to get through the doors. I assume you all are familiar with them, but just in case...

Spoiler: A crash course on digital roots.
To get the digital root of a number, add up all its digits. If you end up with a number greater than nine, you add up the digits again. This continues until you have yourself a single-digit number. That single-digit number is the digital root of the original number.

For example, 378. 3 + 7 + 8 = 18 -> 1 + 8 = 9. The digital root of 378 is 9.
Another one, 1456. 1 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 16 -> 1 + 6 = 7. The digital root of 1456 is 7.
Last one, 12349. 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 9 = 19 -> 1 + 9 = 10 -> 1 + 0 = 1. The digital root of 12349 is 1.

After Trace's explanation, he extended his left hand outward.

Sure, I agree to test my bracelet on the combinations involving me. Gotta check all those edge cases. I doubt the creator of this game would just carelessly leave bugs in the programming. Thorough testing never hurts though.

Trace retracted his hand and awaited further instruction. While he waited, he procured his notebook and began making calculations as well.
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.

I would agree that lynch-style or vigilante-style murders sound like they would go downhill really quickly, and they sound easy for the Zero-aligned party to take advantage of.

I think there's lot's of theoretical roles out there that would want to murder at least one player though, aside from zero of course. It'd be best to play as safe as possible.

I don't know if any of the rest of you noticed this

Consider the numbers 1-8 (not including 9 because that will probably be its own door)

There is no non-repeating three person combination of the numbers 1-8 that has a digital root of 9 that doesn't include the numbers 3 or 6. In order for us all to get through the doors, the doors need to have a digital root of 9

In short, the next set of doors will definitely not have a digital root of 9 and somebody will definitely have to be left behind

Little more info for the bloodthirsty among you.

If someone is pushed through a door, they'll be declared as "missing." They can't post anymore and the only trace you'll find of them is their bracelets at the start of the next day.

Couple other restrictions though:

- Pair players can't try to kill the solo they went in the most recent elevator with and vice versa

- Only the first kill attempt will be counted whether it worked or not, so whoever does it first gets it

And you can call me whatever you like ♡

Wait, so there's only ONE kill attempt between ALL of us? So if someone tries to kill someone this door, nobody else can ever do it for the rest of the game?

Regarding subsequent door sets:

It won't be a big deal if 8 and 1, 4 and 5, or 2 and 7 are there

That being said, assuming it's a set of numbers like 8, 2, 5, I would probably sit out. We'll get there when we get there.

Alright, problem solved then. It's nice when we can all work together. I like this. I mean, I still don't trust any of you, but it's nice.
Oh, one kill per day? Well, hopefully no one is dumb enough to use that. It probably won't work, and even if it does, we'll know who did it.

Lucky crossed his arms as he leaned against door number 6 and bowed his head in thought. The reply from the Woman on the Screen had been disconcerting to say the least. People being left behind, were they out of the game for good? Would they be 'punished'? Forced to fold and cash out? Well Lucky didn't plan on being out of the game when the time came. For now he'd play along with the Woman's game, not like it was about to be a problem for this round at least.

Raising his head to no one in particular, he wasn't sure where the Woman's voice came from but she seemed to hear all anyway.

Well then, I'll cast my vote.

I bet on myself, fortune tends to smile on me well enough he chuckled lightly as he said it.

The thought of throwing around such carelessly the idea of pushing somebody through a door made Trace cringe.

W-why are we even discussing this? There's no reason to use the kill. I mean, even once we know who Zero is, there HAS to be some way of incapacitating him or her.

Vote: Lucky Proposal

I actually kind of like Lucky's proposal, although I guess it's for selfish reasons that it keeps the cyan team together. The only team that would get split up is the yellow team.

Trace went back to doodling in his notebook. He was just trying to make sense of everything.

I want to spend some time with my Magenta compatriots, Cold and Ami, and I don't mind Lucky's plea to spend time Cesar and Trace, I mean I facilitated that pairing initially anyway. (voting A last round)

I don't want to look like I have some weird second-option bias, but I think option C could make everybody happy, so for now, I'll vote for it.

Vote: Option C, AKA Lucky's Proposal

Options 1, 2 and C all sound okay though.

Lucky rolled his eyes. Clearly talking about some kind of game but not of a kind he was used to playing.

Yeah whatever you say, got all that loot and magic powers and leet skills and whatever else.

He cast a glance at Trace in particular

Perhaps you should take this game a mite more seriously partner. That goes for us all, I don't much like the thought of getting 'punished' and I'm getting a touch claustrophobic in this tiny little corridor so whoever is still to vote better cast their mark soon I'm itching to move from this place.

Trace barely even moved when Lucky glared at him.

Hey man, what's with the stink-eye? Don't you remember how in the Zero Escape games, the characters would joke around to lighten the mood? I agree I want to get out of here as soon as possible but at the same time I think we all need to try to work together so we maximize our escape pool.

Lucky raced an eyebrow as he glanced down at Slezak. Perhaps he had been overly harsh before.

Can't say I've played this "game" you speak of before friend, but I guess I might have been a touch harsh on you there.

He sighed and tipped down his hat opting to rest until there was more to go on.

Trace gave a reassuring nod towards Lucky. He understood that perhaps he had gotten a bit defensive as well.

Well, I'm not too fond of tight spaces either. Anyway, in dire survival situations, a person's mind may attempt to distract itself from the difficult scenario. Some people call it "going to their happy place," while others prefer to try to lighten the mood with a joke or some small talk.

What I'm getting at is, I'm sorry for getting defensive. It's just we don't know what's going to be on the other side of those numbered doors so we must either resort to speculation or simply passing the time.

Trace returned his gaze to his notebook.

Lucky gave a sideways glance at Trace, opening one eye under his hat to look at him. He shouldn't have to be apologising. It was on Lucky for losing it in the first place. Didn't need to go compounding their worries already.

Hey don't worry about it padre, I lost it first so don't go apologising about nothing. We're cool.

He outstretched a hand to shake with Trace. A sign of good will.

Lets put it behind us, probably got a long game ahead of us anyway, no point losing our minds already.

Indeed. Thanks, man.

Trace took a step forward and extended his own hand, grasping Lucky's firmly and giving it a couple good shakes.

We'll get through this. I'd bet my life on it.

'Because I kind of already am. We all are,' Trace added inwardly. That nagging feeling in the back of his mind was a consistent one indeed. The fact of the matter was that they were still trapped in a crazy game that promised a swift demise to anyone who disobeyed or was just unfortunate. At least they knew how to escape... sort of. Trace remembered the last round and wondered how this round would be different.

Day 1, Phase 3 begins

Tied vote but "Option 2" reached four votes first so we're going with that one

Lucky, Neptune, Cesar, and Doc Nanjo head off to Door 3. The others enter Door 6.

Door 3 leads to an indoor pool. A lifeguard chair stands at the far end of the pool, a collection of beach chairs rest unused along the side of the pool, and a large towel rack stands near the entrance. There's no other door in the room.

Behind Door 6 is what appears to be a study. A rather large desk sits in the middle of the room, with a cold fireplace behind it and a modest bookshelf off to the side. Again, there isn't another door.

Both rooms have speakers on the walls, letting you all hear me tell you this.

Image Well, what do you know, after all that talk about wanting a method to kill someone and nobody takes the plunge!

Ah well, the game is just getting started, there's plenty of time.

So you guys might have noticed how some of the things in these rooms use larger-than normal font. Those are locations in the room you can search. If you want to search an area, just say so right here so everyone knows! Only one person gets to search a location, though, so whoever posts first gets it! If there's no other areas to search left, you can always choose to watch one of the other players; you can say you're doing that in the thread or by PMing me if you want to be sneaky. If you find something in the location you searched, you'll usually be able to keep that a secret. If you're being watched, though, whoever's watching will know you got something. There also might be, you know, some things that are too big to just be able to hide away.

Anywho, you all again have one day to find whatever you're going to find here, so get cracking! Love!
