The call went out to the prosecution's office, and in a surprisingly quick display of bureaucracy, the one assigned to the case was none other than Liam O'Hara, prosecutor. Quickly, he got in his car and phoned his aid to meet him at the crime scene, and headed down so he could get started as soon as possible.

Jeremy Hunter didn't know what to expect when he overheard this case. A slain surgeon, a defendant with a motive, evidence for implication, things seemed clear cut. But those types of cases always meant there was something else involved. Would it draw out an eager newbie prosecutor, hoping to get a conviction on their record? He hoped not, there was no valor in an easy fight.

Jeremy pulled out a deck of cards and started shuffling it. He took the bar exam and became a lawyer soon after leaving college, but hadn't practiced in ten years, instead, making his money as a professional gambler. He was good, many of the card rooms in Europe refused to seat him now. But, the fun of gambling only lasted so long. Jeremy didn't always win, but he won enough for things to become predictable. And so, what better to do then go back to the law?

This defendant, Mary Conners. She would be a good person to start with. Not being a police officer, he would not be privy to case information. It would be better to start with the information he knew he could obtain first.

Jeremy tightened his tie, fixed his cuffs, and waited for Ms. Conners to come out from holding.

Damn, thought Ryder Garrett. He was late; he had erroneously set the alarm clock the previous night. Hastily putting on his tattered coat, he sprinted to the Office. No one was here. Not one single bloody person. He sighed and sat down, not acknowledging the note lying on the luxurious chair.

Abruptly, he glanced towards the screen, wanting a game of Solitaire. What was he doing? An attorney's assistant (well, he thought of himself as a defense aid) playing computer games? He'd never heard such nonsense.

It seemed that Ms. Conners wasn't going to come out right away. Jeremy quickly excused himself and placed a call in to his office.

"You should be there, at least if you got my note. But, you do tend to throw those out with the garbage."

Not particularly bothering to pick up the phone, Ryder sat there, clueless about his next move.

"Oh, I was never any good at this."

RING RING!

"Solitaire, the hell with you."

RING RING!

"Huh?" Ambling sluggishly to the phone, he picked it up.
"Hello, this is, er, Jeremy Hunter here."

"Why are you still at the office?" Jeremy asked the voice on the other phone. "Did you not get the message to take a look at the crime scene while I speak with the client?"

"J-Jeremy?" He suddenly became quite nervous, "Note? Wha-"

Ryder didn't need to ask. The crushed note lay on the chair, it read, 'Go to the crime scene to investigate.' He immediately hung up and for the second time that day, walked out with his tattered coat.
He went down the elevator, then opened the front doors.
He waited at the bus stop for fifteen minutes, constantly checking his watch. A crowded bus soon came and he clambered hastily into it.

Liam made it to the crime scene as fast as his car could take him. Rather than wait for his aid, he decided to strike while the iron was hot. He wanted to speak to any detectives that were on duty to get the full low-down, as well as keep any meddling people off the site so the evidence couldn't be contaiminated.

Now that Ryder was handling his part of the investigation, at least, until Jeremy himself went to the crime scene, Jeremy returned to the Detention Center to speak with Mary Conners.

Richard noticed Liam. "Hey, is there something that you need?" He asked.

((Is Detective Richard a random detective or is he actually based on somebody?))

"Aye, office made me prosecution. So, what have we got here?" Liam was just looking for the basic facts right now, then he'd work his way down the evidence list.

Meanwhile, Ryder was hiding behind a bin. He was planning on eavesdropping on the two so he didn't have to find out the details himself. To ensure no one saw him, he moved a couple of bushes closer to the bin.

"Evidence shows that Mary shot the victim and cleaned the victim's needle, however, the bracelet seems to have been planted by someone."

"It would seem that the bracelet would have made a noticeable sound when it would have been dropped, alerting the defendant that her bracelet fell off. The fact that we found it were it was tells me that someone planted it at this crime scene."

"Aye? Perhaps you should show me in, let me take a look at the crime scene, then? No sense in jawing outside when it's windy." Liam didn't mean this condescendingly, but planted evidence might hurt the case, but it's entirely possible that the bracelet could have been there.

Liam moved forward to see this so-called planted bracelet. "Have you examined the bracelet for a point of impact?" Liam asked. "It's entirely possible that the victim simply missed it's notice."

"We haven't done so yet, but I'll look into that once you are done looking at the crime scene (that is, of course, if the police don't need the bracelet to be in place or anything)."

Richard took out some paper and began to write the names of the witnesses. "Here they are." Richard handed the paper to Liam. "You might want to use the yellow pages to locate them (or at least called them)."

"Oi, I asked because you're the detective in charge of the scene. I'm assuming if there were any witnesses, you'd have collected their statements and have them inform ye how'd you get in contact with them. If ye didn't do it, I'll have to do it meself."

((Sorry I haven't been on in a long time guys, I was at camp.))

Mary sat down in the Detention Center, feeling lonley and cold. She waited silently for the lawyer and his assistant to come down to the center already.

"Ms. Conners has arrived, sir."

Jeremy returned to the Detention Center.

"So, Mary Conners. My name is Jeremy Hunter, I am your defense attorney for this case. Perhaps you'd care to tell me what happened to this surgeon?"

"His name is Jason Green. I don't like him...especially what happened two years ago!" Mary began to get tears in her eyes, but she blocked them out. "My sister...she died in a car crash two years ago. My sister's boyfriend was the victim, Jason Green. But listen! I didn't kill him! I...''

Jason got out a deck of cards and started shuffling it at she spoke.

"I didn't ask you about your history with the victim. I asked you what happened to the victim. Why were you arrested? Why were some of his things found on you? Why were you covered in blood?"

"I was arrested because I was at the scene, my bracelet was at the scene at the moment of the murder, and my fingerprints were on the murder weapon. They found a lot of things on me, like the murder weapon. I was covered in blood because I cut myself on the day of the murder. True, I was at the hospital when the murder was being done, but I was helping out in the kitchen! I went to the scene to check on Jason, and he was dead. I fainted, and the killer might have planted the blood onto my clothes."

Jeremy seemed nonplussed, he barely looked at her as he dealt out a few cards in front of him.

"That seems a little strange. If you're not friends with Jason, why would you go see him? If you cut yourself in the kitchen, you'd hardly be covered in blood, at least, unless you were being treated for a massive injury. And why your bracelet, of all things?"

"Right then, I'm going to collect a few statements. Keep this place locked down so no one goes and tampers our evidence." Liam went to visit any one of the witnesses that claimed they saw the defendent attack the victim.

(This is for any witness)
