I didn't really like that case much. I guess because I'm not really a fan of circus'.
But I did like Max lol. I like magicians, just not clowns or puppets. So that case kinda freaked me out X3

:udgy: Spit it out! Where is the bust?

:phoenix: The bust is... :ka-whip: Under your honor's bench!

Would have been funnier if:

:franny: Where?

:phoenix: Inside your blouse.

:whip: Excuse me?

:ack: Crap..that didn't come out right...I mean...

:ka-whip:

:udgy: Mr. Wright, that was completely out of line. Penalty for lechery!

Why is it that in this case full of annoying and not down-to-earth characters does it have to be the person who actually is?

On that note, I'm not going to say it's a bad case, but it left a bad taste in my mouth when I completed it.

Moe is pretty much down to earth. He just like being the "clown" instead of serious Moe.

I dunno, maybe it's not so much the culprit, but the disbelief I had when I found out it had to be him of all people. Never expected and I genuinely liked and thought he could never do something like that.

turnabout big top was my favorite case! acro's my favorite character. but i was annoyed when you got penalized for just pressing moe during cross-examination...

Spoiler:
i was so upset when he got convicted, i really hope he doesn't get the death penalty. at the end of the case, didn't edgeworth tell gumshoe to go easy on acro? could that suggest that he wasn't given the death penalty?

2-3 was okay--I preferred it to 2-2. Regina annoyed me, though.

I thought Trilo was amusing, however, and Max...well, he was fabulous.

2-4's still my favorite case, though.

Post subject:  Re: Turnabout Bigtop was f***in amazing!

I was so relieved when 2-4 turned out to be awesome, because 2-3 was just dumb. I was worried Ace Attorney had already jumped the shark.

Am I really supposed to believe
Spoiler: what Acro really saw
the cape somehow lifted itself up (I seem to remember it was "as a result of the impact" — I don't know about you, but if I cause an "impact" near some fabric it doesn't usually fly several feet into the air) and landed in exactly the right place to magically fasten itself to the bust
and, more importantly, have figured that out? Really?

And everyone just bought it?

If I was the Judge, I would've laughed in Phoenix's face and told him to get out if he tried to feed me an explanation that far-fetched. :udgy:

Not the mention the characters were... well, characterless.

I kind of liked it. When you think about it, Bat's story was pretty sad, and I love the description of the lion "smiling" as he bit down onto Bat's head. It sounded wonderfully morbid. :)

It's just... the jokes get old after the second play through... the first playthrough was good, but the second having to go through all the jokes again annoyed me.

Post subject:  Re: Turnabout Bigtop was f***in amazing!

I think a lot of people misunderstand the case. For those who say Acro's actions after his misdeed weren't justified (EDIT: Okay, 'justified' isn't the right word), remember that he just wanted to see his brother open his eyes again. He's not exactly a selfish prick, but he's no saint either.

And as we know,
Spoiler: 3-5
The best way to do that is with a cup of coffee. :godot:

As for the negatives, Congratulations Everyone, Again is the most annoying song ever, and the cloak/bust thing seems rather farfetched. Also, why did he bother putting the pepper in the box when he was planning to kill Regina anyway?

There's just so much drama in this case, it's one of my favorites. Last time I replayed it, I told Regina that Acro was still out to get her for shits and giggles. :karma:

Despite the seemingly overwhelming amount of hate this case got...I kinda liked it. Moe was fairly amusing, the story was quite deep, and the trial sections were pretty good too; especially the Judge's reaction to Moe's first outburst, "Who do you think you are!?", and his reaction if you say the bust is under his bench..."GWWWAAHHH! WHAT'S THAT, YOU WANT ANOTHER? HERE YA GO!"

Post subject:  Re: Turnabout Bigtop was f***in amazing!

I just replayed the case and I cried. At the end, when you present Bat to Regina, she seems to forgive Acro for what he did. I can picture her going to jail for a visit to apologize for all the pain she caused him for those six months.

EDIT: It took me 3 tries to get that post right.

EDIT 2: Just after I made this post, mum took me out the back yard to gaze at the stars. This made it worse. :sob:

I probably would have liked this case better if Bat would have woken up from the coma at the end. The overall case was ok, although I did find the entire case a bit annoying....I wonder why :moe-laugh: It should also be noted, Acro was a good person at heart, just misled by his desire of revenge.

Author:  Asa Turney [ Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:53 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Turnabout Bigtop was f***in amazing!

I thought the case was sufficiently good (certainly not my favorite, compared to all of the other amazingly amazing cases that PW offers) -- certainly doesn't deserve the kind of hate it apparently gets. I liked :cards: and :regina: (it's not like she tries to be ignorant; she just grew up sheltered...) and I thought the challenge of having to talk to a puppet in order to get information out of the man was pretty funny. :punch-ben:

Now, what wasn't funny... was :moe:. Seriously. I'm a total sucker for puns and corniness, and yet... Moe was just extremely obnoxious!! (...although I realize that was probably the point.) I'm sure at some point I might have laughed at something he said, against my better judgment... but right now, the only joke in the case I remember laughing at was "...because I'm always Wright!" complemented by Moe&Maya's deadpan reactions to it... :hobolaugh: The fact that that was funnier than a lot of things Moe said... is saying a lot.
(One thing, though: I thought the passing reference to his divorce and his daughter was quite interesting. A great way to subtly highlight how all these crazy circus freaks are actually real people with serious problems.)

Another thing I didn't like was the penalization for pressing. No matter how glaring the contradiction is, I always like pressing people on every statement -- for absolute certainty, as well as for the pleasure of reading all the dialogue. As if Moe himself wasn't naturally frustrating enough, the penalties made his cross-examination all the more frustrating.

Still, overall, like I said, I liked the case.
I want to say for the record that I honestly didn't see a big problem with the whole cloak-attaching-to-bust deduction... :gymshoe: My mom was watching me play, and her reaction to that series of pictures was "oh, come on!" My reaction, though, was more like: much stranger things have happened, especially in the AA universe.
I don't really know how to convincingly defend it, but... I simply didn't see it as that much of a stretch from Phoenix's average leaps of logic. I think Phoenix's secret to success is knowing that crazy things happen and having the nerve to tell it like it is. :object:
