in the 3rd case (I think) Phoenix Says "well excuuuuuuuuse me princess" after von karma whips him. I'm sure you may no this already but that exact comment was the catchphrase of (the forgotten) Legend of Zelda TV show in the 80s.

do you think it's a coincidence or a purposly placed remark?

I think it's just a quote they used to see what gamers may notice (I didn't notice :P)

I think it was just a quote to test gamer's ability to remember, or just on the whim of the creator :P

This, along with other things, was stuck in for humour.

There's a bunch of other references, such as Sean Connery's "You're the man now dog"
Or, the Fresh Prince theme sung by Moe.
Even when the body dies, the spirit, the ego, it lives on... forever.

It's a pop-culture reference. There are quite a few, though I think that line is the only one that actually stayed completely identical to the source material.

There are a lot of pop culture references, like in the fourth case Phoenix shouts 'I choose you!' which is a popular shout by Ash when releasing a Pokemon.

There was one on the 5th case of PW1 (I know it doesn't belong here but meh) with ema saying "It's only a flesh wound!" An obvious Monty Python reference :D

On JFA I'm sure I heard Maya say "For great justice!". Move zig anyone? Larry
Redd White (age 17) Hey Grossberg, I bet you couldn't stuff 11 lemons up your nose!
Grossburg (age 19) You're on!

And that's why :D

I would've expected Gumshow to give you an evidence and say "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this with you!" after that.
Let us dye the world in despair, and bring a dismal end to this fairy tale.

Sadshoe Dead body, stage left.
(Case 3)

'Exit Stage Left' is a term used in acting and a catchphrase of the Hanna-Barbera character 'Snagglepuss'
