Last month, Official Nintendo Magazine published their interview with Shu Takumi whom we all know for his direction of the original Ace Attorney trilogy. It's general stuff going over AA and Ghost Trick, but there are a few interesting tidbits of information that some may not know.

For instance, Takumi revealed that the series was heavily influenced by many detective series from Perry Mason to Columbo. According to him, Larry Butz originally wasn't supposed to be a recurring character either. Takumi also explicitly stated that Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick do not exist in the same universe, yet is open (perhaps half-joking) to a potential crossover title.

The full interview can be found here.

So I assume it's the interview refered to in this topic (but now available online?).

I can't remember whether it's because I already heard bits and pieces of it earlier, or whether I got it from somewhere else, but I think most of the things discussed here weren't that surprising... The Columbo thing is for example ridiculously obvious (heck, I could give you a list of the episodes that made it into GS one way or another...)

Guess it is then. At least everyone can read it now.

I thoroughly enjoyed this interview :testimony: :phoenix: As an aspiring - if not overly active - writer myself, it's very interesting to take a look at the mind of perhaps my favorite writer in video games :apollo:
"No one can change the past. The only thing we can do is strive to make up for our mistakes. Why must we make up for our mistakes, you ask? Because in so doing... we can find the way back to our path. And once we've found our path, we can move on from our past mistakes toward a brighter future."- Phoenix Wright

The bit about the Dino Crisis and being the protoge of Mikami was an interesting one. IIRC Mikami is no longer on Capcom's payroll? Like Inafune, the megaman creator, he left Capcom to form his own independent studio, didn't he?

It would be interesting to see if Shu jumped shipped. There's a lot of high-profile employees that have left Capcom over the past couple of years...
