Welcome to our new HQ! Sorry about needing to reregister but I think we'll find that our new home is a lot better. Not only are we ad free now, but we have a search function, real BBCodes, such as the spoiler, and all in all significantly more control then Invisionfree's abandoned forum project.

You can remake topics and reinclude data you feel important, but don't turn this into a post count gold rush. Have Fun!

Ah, a new forum, and a fresh start. A bit of a waste to lose the old one, but we all have to make sacrifices for the greater good. The new spoiler tag is nice, as is the fast reply/topic box. Very convenient.

Well Butz we're going to move from there to here, so the best outcome would be for everyone to move. We've got a pretty big community though, so I'm sure we'll lose a few people in the shuffle. We'll do what we can though to make sure everyone moves.

The old forums are still around actually:

http://z11.invisionfree.com/court_recor ... hp?act=idx

I don't know if they will eventually be deleted or anything, so you might want to go back and save any especially historical threads.

Actually, to quote Croik from the old Forums:

Quote:
You don't have to rush over all at once. [The Old Forums] will remain open and postable for a while as everyone takes notice. It'll then remain as a locked but viewable archive, so posts won't be lost.

I absolutely applaud whoever's decision it was to ditch the Invision boards and move to phpBB. I've always abhored the Invision boards, and yet everyone seems to use them.

'Cause Invision Board is freeeeeeee. And actually, for a free board, they do offer more customization then most in their class. But they also come with the traditional bad stuff as well.

*If* this shows up, it took me about 10 tries and server errors for a single post. Nick

Other than that, is there a way to make the backgrounds of all posts the same? This warmer brown doesn't look good at all.

You forgot the slash (and not backslash as I just learned 30 seconds ago) in the closing tag.
Garyuu Also, what web browser are you using? I use Firefox, and it's not working for me either. When you hover over the "glow=" button in the reply tools though, it says "I[nternet] E[xplorer] Only", so... Detective Gumshoe
With an bad first impression right off the bat, I've fine-tuned it a little to this:

The new features that I can see here right now are fantastic, but the stuff that's either left out (from the Invisionfree system) or lessened in quality/flexibility/etc. is horrible.

Yeah. More on that with more investigation.

EDIT: Am I to understand that because this is hosted on the Court Records server, the limit of what can be done with the board is limited only by the coding skills of those involved? Perhaps a "Request Feature" topic is in order in the Docket... Larry
Or is there still some system to follow?... I've mostly been around Invisionfree forums with only a few (2-4?) PHPBB forums after all.

What has been left out / lessened from the Invisionfree system? Unless you really like ads, I can't think of anything InvisionFree had that this doesn't have, and it's just a somewhat basic install from what I gather.

phpBB is very very very highly customiseable, but I think it's a little early to be requesting features. Give it a little time to wear in. Garyuu

Does that mean it is not necessary to alternate colors in the post list and maybe even possible to NOT have an eye-scorching red on brown scheme for the admin names?

This board is brand new, there are bound to be some things that still need tweaking. It's a little early to be thinking of adding more features (at least, not until the board population has settled and all the bugs worked out).

Text color is hard to match to the brown (no, the brown is not going away) but we are working to find something better than the red.

I like them a lot, but the only thing that bothers me is that if you click the person's name who had the last post in that board at the Board List, you get transfered to the person's profile, and not to the last post.

But otherwise, it's lovely! Will Powers

Click on the document icon, you'll go right to the latest post.

I am actually working on trying to adjust the Latest post data so you can see what the topic was that the person wrote in. The closest I can get at this point in time is the 'last post' title e.g. "Re: Weclome aboard!" as opposed to the 'authentic' 'last topic' title.

I plan on making things as smooth as possible, so yes you are right in that our coding is our only limitation. But even then, there are some barriers. For instance, while I had Mikker's help in fixing the layout and stuff, one of the things he thought would be a nice touch if we could break up the sections like they were done on invisionfree. I was like, 'sure why not', and went into the tempating files. It turns out when it comes to the formation of Forums, SubCats, etc they're formed in what I can best describe as a stack of books.

For Instance...

General-Cat
Phoenix-Forum
Defence Lobby-Forum
GS2-Forum
Non-Phoenix-Cat
etc...

But not something like,

Cat {Forum, Forum, Forum }
Cat {Forum, Forum, Forum }

So you can't define what happens after a category without breaking the layout. Granted, I know some cheats where I can check to see if variable was defined and if not, do the pre-cat header then define the variable and then cycle through the loop. However, things can become tricky and rarely work out smoothly.

Ema But don't worry, we intend to make things as nice for you as we can.
