Famitsu this week has something on episode 4 of DGS (on sale Thursday). It's titled "The Adventure of the Night in the Fog and I" and features Natsume Souseki, Japan's most famous novelist. He studied English literature in England at the time. Wagahai wa Neko de aru (I Am A Cat) is one of his most famous works, and the cat in the scan is also called "I" (wagahai).

I think they never revealed that many cases before the release.
So now six cases could really happen!

Dang, that cat was more epic than I gave it credit for. And to think even Natsume Souseki-san would appear in person (as a defendant, no less). I find the sandals completely disjointed from the rest of his suit, but I guess they had to make him look a little more Japanese than these English folks?

And is it me, or does Iris look like she can participate in Joint Reasoning as well? That makes me wonder what decides when Holmes takes center stage and when Iris does. Or do they compete? (Suddenly, Phoenix's comment to Gumshoe about competing with Pearls comes to mind...)

Late bump to Trial Minutes. (I'm on questionable internet right now.)

No leaks either this week, from the looks of it, though I guess some might come tonight. More likely we'll just have to wait another 14 hours for the digital release (which I won't be able to provide due to aforementioned internet.)

I've read at least two other Sherlock Holmes pastiches which also featured Souseki (Souseki and the London Mummy Murder Case and The Yellow Boarder), so I have to admit I was not surprised at all. I guess Japanese mystery writers just like the fact a famous Japanese novelist was in London at the same time as Holmes.

With both a Ryuunosuke and Souseki around, I'm totally expecting people named after Mori Ougai or Shiga Naoya to appear also to complete masters of modern Japanese literature set!

It certainly makes me wonder if this game's Ryunosuke ends up becoming a writer after retiring from law, just as a cherry-on-top in the finale.
