The old forums are going to be closed again once we're relatively sure that this new server is stable. It's just a backup, and I like that we're able to keep it as a backup for emergencies like the one we had.
Will the search function be returning? Of course, once we're relatively sure that this new server is stable, I mean.

From what I heard from Croik, there will be no discussion about a new BBC section until there is confirmation on hosting stability.
And I say until there is confirmation of a new BBC section on CR, there can be no feasible expectation of having BBC regulars move away from Invisionfree.
If Invisionfree is closed without confirmation or even discussion about the new BBC, I don't know what will happen to its regulars.
Personally, I'm very upset with this state of affairs, as it is being handled very sloppily. CR was shut down even after closure of the old BBC. It's general consensus that any reinstatement of the BBC to CR would have to include stipulations to avoid or limit its liability with regards to hosting capacity. Why is this issue not being addressed?

I agree, the forums need to be stabilized and all. But what I am wondering is why there is a need to shut down the invisionfree forums? Why can't it remain open? It's a free site, so it doesn't cost to keep open or anything. There is no real harm to keeping it open, yet now it has to be closed down. I don't understand why it just can't remain open :|

I know this is going to get ugly fast...there are lots of people that are feeling rather uncomfortable about this situation.
I made this suggestion on the older forums, but I'll say it here just in case. Call it, the Temporary Solution to This Issue:
Shut everything else but the BBC area in the old forums down until the new server is set up properly and can handle such activity again. That would solve the problems short term: The new area is used for the majority of the activity and the BBC is open in the old forum until a long term solution can be made for the new site.
This is the only thing that I can think of that could benefit all parties right now. Curse me for thinking democratically, which I know is *ahem* taboo in some regards...but I'm trying to think what is best for the community other than just adding more salt to the wounds and not presenting solutions.

Because if I missed it, and you all did say something to that regard, I believe everyone else probably missed it too and this whole thing wouldn't be boiling over as it were.
Forgive me if I sound a bit brash and harsh. This situation is starting to get slightly agitating because of it constantly being brought up with nothing set in stone to solutions wise...at least in the public view.

Anyway: it hasn't really been discussed what the stop-gap solution will be, but we're expecting a reply any day now (hopefully, today, but it's not set n stone) from DH HQ on how many "conueries" we're using up, or something like that. For now (stopgap), AFAIK, the situation will stay as it _currently_ is. I.e. phpBB BBC=closed, IF BBC=open.
I'll be able to talk more with Croik and Wooster about this later.

The solution presented will not be what's good for Mafia or for any other game from the former Big Berry Circus - it will be a solution that benefits the overwhelming majority of the community. If the Big Berry Circus returns in its old form, the admins have failed and they know they will have failed. The solution is guaranteed to be disappointing for many people who enjoyed the previous game forum. Tough shit - they were part of the problem anyway.
This situation is not currently a top priority - discussion about sloppy handling of this situation is irrelevant because there's no way to "correct" it now nor is it likely that this situation will occur a second time. Everyone involved needs to cut their losses and start fresh, and I personally have already taken steps to that end.
I'm looking forward to seeing what we're given, because I'm certain that in the long run it's going to open up a lot of opportunities around here, better than ever before. Just don't expect another Big Berry Circus, because it's neither needed nor does any sane person want it back. (Hey, Billy? You're offended because you wanted it back? I guess you're insane then!
