Happy New Year!

It's the first day of a brand new year, which means just one thing - it's been slightly more than a year since our last Original Character Contest, so going by our schedule of once-a-year-plus-delays, it's time for a new one!

The 2018 Court-Records Original Character Contest is officially open as of today! For those of you unfamiliar, this long-running site tradition challenges you to come up with your own character in the Ace Attorney universe, and then show them off through fanfic, art, or sprites! Come up with a character who catches the public's eye, and you could walk away with some cool AA swag - including the Japan-exclusive Apollo Justice 3DS Limited Edition, the 15th anniversary orchestra CD, and more!

Check out the official contest page for details. The entry period runs through February 28th this year, but don't delay - start working on ideas now!

I'll still enter! Got 1 and a half sprites done, hopefully I can make a full set before uni picks back up!

Quick question!

I know it has to fit in the timeline, but does the character have to be from a country established in the canon (e.g. Japanifornia, Khura'in, Borginia, Zheng Fa, etc.) or can we make up our own?

Uuuuugh i really want to use my old OC (which has more artworks and sprites than before) but i've used him 2-3 years ago.
I've other OCs but i don't think it would be the same.

Sorry for the delayed response, but yes, you can give your character an original backstory like this as long as it's clear they're still in the same AA universe.

For fanfiction, it should contain only text. Given that the fanfiction category is judged based on the quality of the writing, it might give a slightly unfair advantage to have a visual aid there.

Just submitted my entry! Glad I could join again this year.I think last time I joined was like 8 years ago? Time flies ;_;

Don't really see why it wouldn't be, but just to be sure- is it ok to share our work on social media before the contest is over?

Holey moley, I submitted with two minutes to spare.

I worked on this one quite late due to the over-abundance of other projects I had to deal with. Nevertheless, I managed to finish my entry in time.

When does voting begin? The info says winners will be announced by March 18/19, so would that give us 2 weeks to vote?
