Gah, difficult!

1. Rainy Night
Rainy Night perfectly captures the atmosphere and feel of Dusk. Repetitive rhythm, inquisitive melody and slightly haunting vocal accompaniment fully represent the feelings of unease, secrets and questioning that Hyde must go through to find the truth.

2. Slow Steps
If only for its usage with Helen/Iris. Really nice, gentle song. Great for the "nice old grandma" style of Helen, and the "slightly naive, stuck up princess" for Iris. Oh, and Jeff's usage represents...well, childish naiveté.

3. Dead Stare
Going to make a lot of enemies this way, but it is a much better song to portray Dunning's tragedy than "The Last Sleep", IMO. This song, with Dunning spilling his guts to a man he only met earlier on in the evening, with a deeply guarded secret for so many years, a personal tragedy over his daughter...and this song perfectly accompanies it. The main melody is truly tragic, truly hopeless. At 1.28, an incredibly haunting, airy line of music creates further visions of darkness, sorrow and utter lack of hope that Dunning has. This alone makes it a much sadder song than The Last Sleep.

Yes, The Last Sleep definitely has a "lost hope" vibe; and sounds incredible with the echoing footsteps...but it still retains the air of mystery. What is the nature of this "lost hope"? Dead Stare is very specific. There's no mystery. Only the cold, hard, dark truth of a man without hope.

3. So Noted - I just scribbled in the book to hear that music.
