I'm so happy I'm crying.

I'm going to wait for all of it to be released, though, no matter how long it's going to take.

O.O Wow. I am really touched. Thank you so much.

Congratulations again, Radex! I just finished only a few moments ago and suffice to say, this definitely is one of my favourite PW fangames - especially for a first case. While differing from the conventions generally featured in first episodes, you certainly made up for it with a unique and constant twist on the plot and the game play. Here is my review I took when I was playing.

Spoiler:
- Smooth loading screen (graphic-wise) but slow to start up. *sigh* It reminds me of my PWlib days.
xD Hehe, I gotta make up for it.
- Oho, don't think I don't know that track you used in the intro. That has to be an instrumental version of Tori no Uta (Lia). Damn you for getting to use it before me. xD
I'm awesome like that. Great minds, great taste in music :D.
- Don't think I didn't pick up on that reference to JM with the basketball. xD
Rather than a direct-indirect insinuation of your case (if that ever makes sense), I took the overall theme and made a pun :D
- Personal Suggestion: Make the edges around all evidence/profiles transparent. That's how it's done in the games.
Hm, I pretty much used the PWLib resources as they were.
- Ha ha! I knew Franziska was the client! :D

- Btw, you captured her perfectly.
Heh, indeed.
- Wow, I'm really enjoying it so far. I love the format you included - an investigation before the trial. It's great. =)
I gotta show how it started before xD, seriously you would laugh how it started.
- Could you replace PW Hobo's normal animation with sheets from the PyWright package and rescript that emotion? It's very odd...
Yeah, I will fix that.
- Argh, this was one thing I was annoyed about PWlib. The Hold It, Take That, Objection and Pauses always acted odd because of the FPS issue. :|
Hm, I am honestly blind about that lol.
- What's with the profile pictures in the C-R? They all... look weird. Franziska looks cross-eyed. :sadshoe:
Show me the pictures, you are most likely suffering horizontal tearing. Or it could possibly a problem in how PWLib handles graphics. If you notice, the pictures in the resources folder or my custom folder, they look fine but for AIGE/PWLib renders them with lesser quality.
- (I wonder why the Judge is being so serious today?) To escape Franziska's whip! xD
That and... There are eight...
- Franziska is really small in the Court Overview. Look at Auraion's sprite page for a cool version of her in court.
I probably should check it out. I have a feeling its the half-assed fix that I used to put her sprite in.
- Love the Kristoph references! I should have put more in my Case 1. :P
Hehe.
- You keep forgetting to hide the textbox when a start-up animation such as Edgeworth's hand shake or Judge's nod is played. :P
Hm, I thought I fixed most of that.
- I am the Chief Detective of Criminial Affairs.
Now, how did I miss that?
-- Resumed Gameplay --

- Bug 1 - Save: If you resume a saved game from the MASON start, the MASON BG remains and the character sprites don't show
up till the next character is initialised. Also, you can't access Evidence as it doesn't load. :|

... Which means that if you want to load a save, you have to play through it all till you reach the Investigation. :P

- Never mind. I saw you included a save/load start. xD
By the power of my awesome mind, I knew it was the right decision to put it in!
-A consistent error through the game is that you forget commas when addressing characters. Example...
"Good luck Franziska" should be "Good luck, Franziska." because the character is talking to her.
I probably most likely missed the comma, lots of commas <_<.
- Oh, dear, Edgey. I'm so sorry. xD
Haha.
- Character animations seem... a bit too fast. :|
Sounds like you got a fast computer.
- Good choice in bringing back "Noisy People" as Oldbag's theme. =D
Seriously :3.
- JudgeBag?! 0_o
He has a point, why does the defense still suffer penalties and they took a whole damn year in trying to fix the system <.<
- Hide the textbox just before WT/CE because the last line quickly comes up before it changes. :P
Mmm going to find that.
- Bug: When I was pressing Oldbag's statement that results in Apollo showing the map, I saw his thinking sheet.
0_o
Wow, I never saw that <.<
- Love the subtle Perceive sounds. ^^
Gotta help in some way ;)
- Instead of "I saw her kill him II", rename it to "I saw her kill him Pt. 2"
I should probably, then again, different art direction xD.
- Oh, wow, all the characters in the CRO's are midgets. No offense but is that a coding problem or your intention?
Coding problem. In order to get GS4 courtroom, I replaced multiple resources in PWLib since there was no proper way in transfering sources.
- Great contradiction involving the sun - I wouldn't have thought of something so unique.
How could something so simple be so effective x3?
- No penalty so far. :D
O rly?
- I love the smirk on Oldbag's face when the screen flashes to her after Edgeworth objects.
Haha.
- Baliff, could you please escort her to the lobby?
Ngggrh, spell check for Notepad++, nao.
- You were right - there are a lot of similar elements which is great. It shows how two great minds think alike. Choosing to have Fran testify is quite similar to the moment in Pt. 3 where Payne asks Apollo if he wants to hear the theory. ;)
Indeed.
- Bailiff not Baliff. :P
I need spell check.
- Yay, Perceive sound again! Everyone is lying today. xD
I originally wanted to do a perceive, but, a workaround had to be made :D.
- I have no idea who the killer is. Great job on keeping it a mystery so far. ;)
Only if :D
- Interpol Agent? Oh, dear. xD
Still doing her job :D.
- Rela'aria, Venatus? Sounds like somewhere from FF. :P
It does lol.
- When the CE logo comes up for "Alexander Ethos' Identity", Fran is talking.
O snap.
- I plead silence: Use the Suspense Music. ;)
Hm, did I seriously forget to put that in. Maybe my head is playing the music. O SNAP.
- We haven't heard from Edgeworth in a bit. I'm predicting he's going to do something to save the case.
Why so passive?
- And I was right. xD
:nods:
- First penalty. :(
HA!
- What a monster of a cross-examination/argument/rebuttal that was. :P
Haha.
- Love the Mason System/Jurist System. It's great. =)
It has it's worth.
- I died slightly inside from shock when Desperate Struggles came on. Radex, I knew you were using it but... you chose the
perfect moment. ;)
Timing and music always help.
- Btw, what would have happened if I chose Not Guilty? :|
The same result. It would be more wtf maybe?
- "Where, what or who..." should be in green font... not blue.
Mmkay.
- Ethos' profile doesn't work. Franziska's doesn't. Too bad Oldbag's doesn't. It would be epic if it did. xD
Interesting, I need to check that out.
- No... No... No... you can't be... you can't be. This can't be a trap to force the player into a gameover. No piece of evidence
fits the description...
Hence, a unique use of the gameplay mechanics :godot:
- Oh, Radex, I hate and love you so much. You are a genius. Luring everyone into presenting wrong evidence. Forcing the player into a game over. This is so clever...
Thank you :D
- Love the custom art, Radex. You're a pretty good artist. ;)
Thank you :D again.
- Interesting ending to the trial. I'm guessing that the case is going to be revisited. From what you've hinted, I'm guessing this case plays a major role in Case 3 which is where the presence of everyone from the PW era is explained properly... if I remember correctly. ;)
Hm, I wonder about that.
- If Apollo put the badge on the table... and got the Magatama, then shouldn't it be in the Court Record? You did specify pocket so I guess that's why it isn't in there...
Yep, pocket that's my though. But for the hell of it, I'll add it in ;)
ENDING 1 - That hotel room tells me of who the real killer is - Redd White. No doubt about it. He's the only one who fits the description for past crimes and of course, that room. We know that he stayed in that room with May so... ;)
You are close. Just so freakin' close. You have the idea of Phoenix's thinking.
Btw, did you make that in Adobe Premier? I noticed it was much better quality (the font in particular). If you made it in Premier, then you're amazing! If not, what other program did you use. Either way, it's still awesome. :D
Made in Adobe Premiere, screen captured ;D with hypercam 2, that's why the quality is higher. Adobe Premiere likes to be a freakin' b*tch with the encoding.
ENDING 2 - GODOT HAS A DAUGHTER?! *GASP*

I died of shock then. Seriously. That was totally unexpected. 0_o
Who would have suspected? :godot:
Also, minor nitpick but it says on the time stamp, Courtroom Lobby when they're in the Courtroom themselves. :P
They are really not there, since you don't see anyone in the Courtroom if you notice :redd: . Rather, it's a different perspective, an overview so to say (hurr hurr), and right before they enter.
Final Review!

★ ★ ★ ★
(4/5)

I was very impressed by the direction the plot took. It was unique and captivating. The addition of .avi movies added to the brilliance of your trial. You, sir, are a genius. Your ideas were fabulous and you pulled them off really, really well.
I hope PWLib 1.2 comes out, so a true Whipping Turnabouts come into fruition. Clean and easy to use.
Music choices were, of course, brilliant. I love FF music and your trial was filled to the top with it. A hyperbole but you get the point. :karma:
Gotta feel the motion of the music :minuki:
Graphics were great - even the recolour of Edgeworth. Everything was clean, crisp and smooth... except for Hobo Phoenix's animations which you know about. ;)
Haha.
Will I play this again? Most likely. Your trial has encouraged me to work on my Case 2 now as well as try to match how awesome this trial is. ^^
I am really happy that you love it.

I updated the comments, Tap.

Guys, BBblader and Tap has beaten it. Ping most likely. Once the third person says it, I'll talk about the surprise, and other things as well.

First, the DevDiary 1.5 in a day or two.

Actually, I didn't beat it because I accidentally pressed F6 instead of F7 when loading my save, and I don't want to start over again, at least not today -_-

If you knew a way to get back to where I was, it would be great, but given the unforgiving nature of PWLib, I doubt there is one. I guess I'll just replay it from the beginning soon.

Oh well. At least that means you guys can hope to get the surprise ^^

I can fix that, just PM me where you were and I'll give you a save as soon as possible.

Hey Radex, I was actually progressing pretty well at one of the CEs, but..:

I think as I said on AAO, PWLib was killing me on the memory usage(it took 30 minutes-1 hour to load!!!!), plus, it was playing pretty slow considering I met all specs, so the game was kind of unplayable for me, including saving/reloading, it crashed my whole netbook at one point o.O, but this is PWlib's problem, so I understand it's out of your control :p

I was going to attempt to beat this last night, but unfortunately, I can't, though I was pretty much enjoying it so far!

Thanks god I fixed that wrong decision on AIGE already.

I kinda like how certain people just love to talk somewhere else about pwlib's issues, and not to me directly.

Also, Radex, I need your help with something video-related.

:( I'm really sad that you can't experience the full thing but it's good that you're enjoying it so far.

And wow o.0, it crashed your netbook? DAMN.

But since you were already aware of the issues, there would have been no point in talking directly to you, it would just be redundant.

It's really no problem, I liked where it was going so far though.

Yeah, even with closing all background apps I still had a problem loading, it crashed 2 times I think, third times the charm i guess :p

Spoiler: ingame
i was at wendy oldbag's testimony about the hotel being darker, and my netbook acted up from there.

I'm not aware of all issues, so reporting is the best way. I took notice of that when testing Damion Shard, really (the memory usage). If you find a bug, you should report to the developer. Known or not, it is the right thing to do instead of talking behind the back of the developer on some forum.

Actually, the issues that occurred were ones you already knew, there really would have been no point to it.

Besides, who ever said anyone was talking behind a dev's back? You're implying someone was talking badly about someone else, when really, that's never the case :p

I saw some time ago sme bad stuff about PWLib on the AAO forums, so those things happen. I don't recall what was it, but stuff like that happen.

I may dislike certain people and casemaker, but I don't go pointing its bugs on some random forum out there. It isn't a nice thing to do after all. Still, reporting a bug is still important, and sometimes I really let stuff pass by. I just found some bugs while testing the console today, some bugs I should have fixed by the time of AIGE pre-700a.

But if the comment on other forums was that "700a had this bug, but the newer version does not anymore" then it is fine.

Is some time ago considered...idk... a year or two? :p, I have not seen anything negative about your case since I've joined this random forum you're referring to, but that's just me.

You're right about reporting a bug.... if it's new and not really well known :D.

For the first examination, it's meant to be, hence, Phoenix's advice.

"Do the usual, Apollo." And what is the usual for a defense attorney ;)?

The 2nd examination, just keep on trying. Think about what you missed. As I said in my release post, I will not help (other than graphic problems or unable to play) until one week after. I did say the game is designed to be easy to hard. I seriously made it worthwhile once you beat the game. I won't half ass the difficulty and the story. Just keep trying.

Yes, it's a beautiful violin/piano piece. I personally haven't watched Air, but the music seriously got me interested, so more than likely I will see it.

Congratulations on a work well done! I really liked the case. The only thing I can be a bit more critical on would be the grammatical and punctuation mistakes in some parts of the script, but other than that it was really enjoyable.

Spoiler:
Also, I HATE Edgeworth now. Seriously, that rebuttal was a pain in the ass for me to get through, but did it feel good when I finally did!
The endings were really cool too, each in its own way. The first with :maya: & :pearl: (hell yeah), and the second with Godot's relative (I'm guessing sister?). I'm looking forward to the new sprites for all these characters and for Phoenix, because I doubt you'll have him stepping in court (if he does) in his casual attire, right? Right?

Once again, great work. I hope to hear more from this project soon.

Hehe, the graph doesn't lie. Congrats, your are the third (BBblader, Tap, and yourself), and now, I will show something "interesting" later on along with DevDiary 1.5. I have to go out today, so maybe in a few hours.

Well, that's the idea, the hardest CE ever, and I made it worth satisfying to beat, until, that happens... :karma:

If you know the person behind the concept, you'll understand part of who she is ;).

I will be using Ceres' sprites most likely. They are seriously great. I am going to have to work on his GS5 Phoenix's animations, etc. But with the original Phoenix, I believe I can fix that up. He only has a side view of Maya, but that might be enough to make front-view.

My answers are in red. Thank you, again. Seriously, I need to get proofreaders :p. It's difficult to concentrate on grammar with all the things I had to do.

I shall be downloading it in a while, but sadly, dad's got the laptop, so I'm stuck with the netbook right now. Seeing people's responses to the difficulty of the case, don't expect me to finish it really quickly. I'll probably take a few days or one Red Bull fuelled night, and a repair bill for a new computer and wall...

Also, I'm surprised so few people have beaten the case as of yet. Maybe I'm better than I have given myself credit for. =P

Also, I'm surprised so few people have beaten the case as of yet. Maybe I'm better than I have given myself credit for. =P

;) Want a good example?

That is in reference to the Edgeworth 1st Argument/Rebuttal. He finally beat the game though :D.

"...When?"

The things you may see are subjected to change. Congrats to BBblader, Tap, and Karel for being the first three to beat the episode. Whipping Turnabouts is a success; I received the minimum that I wanted and something more. Many thought it was great; it was something unexpected and unique. Thank you.

There are still surprises that has yet to come. And a DevDiary 1.5 needing to be released.

But, welcome to... Re:tracer...

Wow. That's gotta be... frustrating. I managed to pull it off in about 30/40 minutes. :maya:

About the screenshots, it's looking quite interesting. Wonder who the person at the station is... :yuusaku:

Hope that motivation you have now will give us more details in the future! Keep up the good work.

It really is an awesome game :D
I have finished the game and I'm still quiet because of the amazement :D
You are really good at this :maya:
I can't find the words to say how great I find it, exactly xD
And I liked the endings too :D
I have been busy with the most difficult cross-examination for 2 days, but that made it all the more fun when I finally got through :D
Oh and btw: I like the special thank you :3
And how great I though it was? Very great! :D

When ever I try to open AIGE there is a pop up saying, " This application has failed to start because d3dx9.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." How do I fix this? I already re-installed.

Hehe, I hope so, it'll take a lot of work on the spriting. I have to try real hard to understand the art of spriting, up to like Ceres' or Zinie's level.

I admire your patience and dedication, 2 days, haha, truly a beastly cross-examination. Glad you like it, and no problem, thank you for being there. :redd:

A gift for you ;).

"Hmm... You look like a Polly..."
"And you sound like a Polly..."
"Alright!"
"From now on, you are Polly!"
"Great name, don't you think?"
"(Really? REALLY?!)"
"(Why does everyone come up with that name?!)"

So, Scent, I assume you have beaten the game, and received the answer to your "references?" :godot:

I didn't think it would be Maya at first since she shouldn't have known Apollo's nickname in that scene, but if that dialogue is supposed to happen beforehand, I guess Maya's the most likely person now.
Oh well, not that I mind. :maya:

...Polly? Could it be Polly the Parrot? Hm... The only people who knew about Polly were Phoenix, Maya and those present in the State Vs. Miles Edgeworth case, so... IT'S MAYA! :maya:

And no. Sadly, I haven't beaten the game. I'm stuck in the Oldbag Cross-Examination. ;^;

Hm, unusual confusion lol. There's a joke involved in that. Apollo meets the person and tells the person his name. That person didn't like the name and wanted to make a nickname for Apollo. The person thinks about it "deeply" and came up with that conclusion. Ironically, why does everyone come up with that name? :D

At the second, "Do the usual, Apollo." What's the usual for a defense attorney other than presenting? :3

At the third, I look up to the sky, ugh, I see the...

As for the person in the screenshot, who often uses Mr. Nick?

Argh! I totally missed that detail! Then, just like MayaPhoenix said, it's pretty obvious who that is. Unless this whole set-up is one big fabrication to throw us all off-track... :yuusaku:

Wow, this is a wonderfully made game. Only have a few issues. One: I can't save. I press F5 and all I get is a white screen on top with nothing on it. And two:...well, I'm stuck :larry:
Spoiler:
I got to Franny's second testimony about the victim, and I don't know if there's a contradiction there. I got an extra part about some project (foreshadowing? :adrian: ) But I don't know where to present something.

Other than that, and a few minor spelling errors, this is fantastic. I just hope I can finish it. :edgy:

So, just a note for everybody. A week has passed, so I am free to give hints and answers.

Spoiler: Hint
Use "him" to get more information out of "her." :D, who is "him" and who is the "her?"

If you can't solve that then here is the answer.

Spoiler: Answer
You must press the last statement and then you need to have Franziska amend her testimony. Present Ethos' profile on the amended statement.

Thank you, and yeah, seriously, I better get proofreaders next time <_<.

I'll release DevDiary 1.5 later on.
