Aaron Augustine: Ivalice Attorney
Welcome Home, and Turnabout
Drop by and take a trip to the royal court of Ivalice, a perpetually moonlit winter wonderland of magic and fantasy.
This is a stand alone PyWright case based loosely on Final Fantasy Tactics. The player takes control of protagonist Aaron Augustine, a red mage and new defense attorney, returning to his homeland of Ivalice after being gone for many years to join Detective Montblanc's law firm, Nuts and Co. Law Offices.
When the festivities, fireworks, and midnight celebrations of Ivalice's anniversary come to a close and the king himself is found murdered, Augustine takes the case to defend a dear friend from a relentless slew of evidence and witness testimony that seems almost too good to be true... or even possible. But in the magic-oriented realm of Ivalice, not all rules that bind our world together always apply.Factoids
Engine: PyWright
Estimated Play Time: 4~ hrs. Rough estimate.
Latest Version: 1.12
All characters in this case are done using 8-bit, NES era Final Fantasy sprites, with the exception of speedline animations. The characters utilize various single-frame poses to mimic typical Ace Attorney animations, including thinking, pointing, recoiling, and desk slams. The cast of Ivalice Attorney includes Aaron Augustine, Brooke Rainwater, Detective Montblanc, Matias Melanor, Iella Noel, Jenos Idanian, Edmund Azimov, and Lord Julian Westgate. Other characters include an assortment of cameos from other characters from Final Fantasy and other similar titles.
Welcome Home, and Turnabout is a one and a half day, 10-testimony case. I haven't timed it yet but it likely offers a solid 3+ hours of play. The investigation offers eight different locations around the realm of Ivalice to explore, and the trial segments offer some less-linear options and elements, allowing the player to add and subtract any number of optional statements they wish as well as juggle multiple statements and even multiple witnesses at once. The case includes a varied soundtrack drawing music from numerous sources including Final Fantasy Tactics A2, and various custom interface buttons and backgrounds are present throughout.Updates as of version 1.12:
-An opening splash screen allowing the player to start at the prologue, jump to the opening investigation, or directly to the trial itself.
-All cross-examinations now utilize full courtroom scrolling done with manual commands, demonstrated in the first part of the video playthrough below.
-A newer, improved version of the OST. Higher quality recordings of the SoJ soundtrack and some other assorted tracks.
-Trimmed dialogue, more concise cross-examinations, and clarified plot points throughout the game.
