Well, I appreciate the support either way.

A lot of people have told me that they just won't play the thing until it's fully complete, so I was considering that I might just end up making Part 2 and 3 into one thing and just have the next release be the full thing instead. The original reason behind the segmented release was both to motivate myself to work on it later down the line once this inevitable hiatus happened and to encourage discussion about what's going on in the case as it's happening. With the response so low, though, and with me still being determined to finish the thing in the end, I don't see much point to it.

Obviously this means it'll take a bit longer before that next release., given that I'd be making two parts instead of just one, as initially planned.

Will decide later.

Agreed.

I would prefer a full release next, but whatever, it's up to you.

I've learned with DWAM cases that, if I try and stop mid-case, my brain just stops functioning in my normal daily life as I try to solve the damn thing in my head. I'm gonna wait until full release.

Well, I'd argue that's part of the fun buuuuuut fair enough.

I suppose it's my own fault after the AAO Curtain debacle, where I roped people into speculating the hell out of it but never actually finished the thing (at least, not the mysteries they speculated so much on).

I do appreciate any sort of support nevertheless.

Oh shit, I remember that. Kept me up for at least 2 nights trying to figure out what the fuck was going on.

Also, for the record -- what I meant by "the remaining part" is, like, the remainder o the game. I've decided to just have the next release be the finished thing.

Overall, solid progress today.

Looks like I've still got it.

*hype intensifies*

I've got all these questions spinning around in my head:
Spoiler:
Why was Victoria hospitalized? What made her lose her mind? Why did Adam encourage us to stay on the case? Who is Eve's client? What happened to Lucas and Victoria's child? What was Ema hiding? Who killed Victoria? Is Lex still alive? If not... who killed him?

Eagerly waiting for the full release.

This is a smaller, but an update that has personally meant a lot to me.

A musician, James Doherty, had graciously offered to compose tracks for people. I took the opportunity and him if he could create a track for El Dorado. The work is amazing and I personally love it, and consider it an excellent addition to the case. The speed and efficiency was also remarkable, no question. I've rarely ever used content made exclusively for something I've made, but whenever I do, I am deeply humbled and it means the absolute world to me.

It's kind of weird for me to be getting this excited and be giving this much praise to someone out of the blue, but that's just how happy this contribution has made me.

So please, I implore you to check out one of his YouTube channels, with remixes of AA tracks, but also his official youtube channel and soundcloud with more diverse content you might enjoy.

That's all I really had to say. Please send the man some love for his hard work.

The general consensus seems to be that the first half was pretty long, but the second was, at least in my mind, pretty short, yeah.

But I suppose it depends on how long one was stuck in the

uh

fun part

of the case.

I was referring to Curtain there, just to be clear.

El Dorado's, without a doubt in my mind, longer.

I want to thank everyone who helped me in terms of art, music, and beta-testing to see it through. I'm very happy with the final product, and I hope you will be, as well.

Notes regarding this part are pretty much the same as the last part. The only thing I have to add is that, if you've already played Part 1, to look for 'IF YOU'VE ALREADY PLAYED PART 1' text file in the game files and edit the intro file accordingly to move onto the remaining part. But you already know the drill from Contempt of Court / Conflict of Interest at this point, I imagine.

So, do enjoy!

It's currently 2:50 AM where I am, so I once again failed to properly time my playthrough. Meh, still worth it.

Spoiler: Spoilery final thoughts
  • The new cast was phenomenal. Everyone was fleshed out save for one person (which I'll get to in a bit)
  • Speaking of the cast, Eve was a god damn amazing villain. I wish she had more of a final "breakdown" ending though.
However, I think her character worked better without a crazy breakdown animation.
  • We should've gotten more of Adam. He looked like a really cool dude.
  • Also, that modern family-esque stuff caught me wayyyyy tf off guard. I was half laughing half in shock when I read that.
  • I fucking called it that Victoria's wish would be the baby.

Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Spoiler: Response to a single point, case spoilers obviously
Yeah, I acknowledge Adam wasn't utilized that terribly much. I had bigger plans for him at first but as I was sorting out the structure of the case, I realized there weren't a whole lot of places I could've put him in that wouldn't either slow the narrative down or just distracted from what was happening. I still obviously needed him, though, as both an exposition vehicle, and a connection to Eve's remaining morality. So, I at least decided to make him consistent -- make it so that Phoenix has no control when conversing with him, but have Ema be able to confront him and be the one dominant in their conversations. I also tried to have him take on a part of the issue of "duty v morality", so as to give him some element of pay-off and development.

I liked him a concept overall, but to me he wasn't as interesting as the other players, and in the end, in my mind at least, I don't think he needed to be.

Edit: I also updated the OP with a new banner for the case. Think it looks a lot better than the first one.

Well, there's eight hours of my life spent playing Ace Attorney fancases. Guess I should give my thoughts.
Spoiler:
Every time I play a DWaM case, I know it'll have writing ranging from dark and heartbreaking to extremely hilarious and this case is no exception. I absolutely love the writing and humor. (That Charley bit at the beginning nearly had me in tears.) The story was nice and interesting although not quite as engaging in the first half, at least for me. The second half was intense and had me on the edge of my seat quite a bit. The pacing was solid even though I felt some of Victoria's sections dragged on a bit, specifically the cave part, but other than that I had no problems there. The characters were probably the best part of this case for me. All these characters were interesting and engaging throughout the case. Overall, I loved this case and I look forward to more in the future. 9/10. Keep it up dude(with a mask)!

Thank you very much for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Spoiler: Response
I suppose from a gameplay standpoint Victoria's section does drag a bit, but I found that it was the best way to portray the feeling on wandering and the length of time she'd actually spent in the caves while she was alive.

Still, perfectly get where you're coming from.

@Thunder84
Yes, James did a great job! As I said, I'm very happy with the work he put in, and I think it was an overall great addition to the case.

Two things I forgot to mention in my earlier post.
1.
Spoiler:
Out of all the prosecutors out there, you chose PAYNE?! Don't get me wrong, it works in context of the case description and I didn't mind how he was characterized. Just...why Payne?

2.
Spoiler:
What the hell was up with that post credits scene? I get what the idea was in that Victoria wants to come back to life to see her kid but it seemed...weird. Like, weirder than your usual stuff. Where were you going with that?
