Not many people have heard of them, plus they are already disbanded but I still think Kagerou is just epic.
And I don't mind Utada Hikaru either, not a favorite of mine, but I like Wait And See.

I just love J-Pop and J-Rock, but it seems almost everyone else in my school(well, pretty much my entire city) seems to hate it. Even the others in my band hate it too; and I was hoping to play some J-Rock...

Anyways, my favorites are usually from anime shows or video games:

Favorites(no specific order)

1. Flyaway - Back-On (Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 Opening)
2. My Love is a Stapler - K-ON! (After School Tea Time Album)
3. Curry After Rice - K-ON! (After School Tea Time Album)
4. Brush and Ballpoint Pen - K-ON! (After School Tea Time Album)
5. Guitar ni Kubittake - K-ON! (Hirasawa Yui Single Album)
6. Let's Go! - K-ON! (Hirasawa Yui Single Album)
7. Sunday Siesta - K-ON! (Hirasawa Yui Single Album)
8. Heart Goes Boom! - K-ON! (Akiyama Mio Single Album)
9. Sorairo Deizu - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann OP 1)
10. Rewrite - Asian Kung Fu Generation (Fullmetal Alchemist OP 2)
11. God Knows - Hirano Aya (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi ENOZ Concert, Episode 12)
12. Yuki, Muon, Madobe Nite - Minori Chihara (Nagato Yuki Character Album)
13. Tenshi Ranman Love Power - SetoHana Angels (Seto no Hanayome OVA OP 2)
14. Zettai Otome - Sun&Lunar (Seto no Hanayome OVA OP 1)

Yeah well, it's hard to come across Jpop/Jrock fans in real life when you don't actually live in Japan. Mostly everyone I know thinks it's stupid because it isn't in English.

U-uh... would I be shot if I said I'm a huge fan of Hello!Project and AKB48? I like Utada as well and I'm a big fan of Nana Kitade.

I don't really listen to Jrock often, I need to know of some better bands. >>

Bôa I like is the British band which did Duvet from the Lain start. You can buy their second album, Get There, from hmm iTunes or cdbaby.com I think. But they are not actually Jpop.

haha, Bratz dolls.

I fail to see how that matters. Find yourself a subbed version on Youtube or a lyrics page, if you're concerned about the meaning of songs. Me, I listen to them because unlike our country's repetitive rap and country music, J-Pop and J-Rock are easy to listen to and have amazing variety.

Not everyone is going to like J-pop or J-rock. I don't like almost all mainstream American pop or rock, but a lot of people find it oh so amazing. Some people also can't be bothered to find song translations, too.

I don't listen to it as much as I used to, though....

I do not see a big difference in 'genres' in one country to others, rock is rock, punk is punk etc, of course you get a variety of individual bands and people who do things well, but most will suck down gasoline and set themselves alight with the flames of mediocrity and stereotype. Of course it is different, it is in a different freaking language but I do not see a variety different to anywhere else, though I see music as a universal thing not stuck to individual countries, location and languages.

Hate repetition, change genre.

Random 'rock' song translated.

Spoiler: GOSH

Dir en grey

Today still, I play with you, you don't notice anything
A love that freezes at -180C

Silent you, a silent love, silent pleasant feelings
Silent me, a silent love, silent scars

You, the eighteen person, don't notice me, softly you have confirmed me
This frozen love

Quiet you, a quiet love, I kill my quiet pleasant feelings
Quiet me, a quiet love, a quiet...

I can't change, this silent love can't change
Peacefully, peacefully, it coils up around both us

A silent heart, a quiet heart, cut in my heart
A silent heart, a quiet heart, even if you are going to play with my heart

Since I noticed you,
I just wanna be able to be by your side

I finally embraced you
I didn't know that it would be going to be the last time

I went over the top again it seems. Like what you like and sod everyone else their bring you down, be a ballon, sail along in the sky and try to not pop.

You're really stupid if you think what's on the radio and MTV is all America has to offer when it comes to music.

Though I really liked that day when all MTV was Micheal Jackson.

A few of my friends say that they can't STAND seeing or hearing pop stars like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, etc.

But yet, they adore j-pop artists like Ayumi Hamasaki or Koda Kumi.

Hate to break it to you, but these truly are some of the most popular acts in Japan right now.

Japan has some of the most manufactured recycled garbage pop music out there, and the public still eat it up. It's up to you if you like this stuff(I'll admit that I liked Love So Sweet), but don't go claiming Japan is some incredibly diverse wonderland...which is ironically stupid in a lot of levels.

10: The Palm of a Tiny Hand
09: Toki wo Kizamu Uta (A Song to Pass the Time)
08: Sen no Yoru wo Koete
07: Beautiful World

Hey, man I said it sounded familiar, but I couldn't be sure. I was thinking you were trying to feed me something mainstream, dammit. And, by the way, .//Hack Sign was probably the 4th anime I watched. I loved every single minute of it... For the most part. And, on that note, I can only even stand Gundam anime as they were about 10 years ago. Seed, Destiny, and 00 sucked. I don't care for Sunrise, thank you.

Everyone knows Macross owns more, anyway... :edgeworth:

For the most part. And, on that note, I can only even stand Gundam anime as they were about 10 years ago. Seed, Destiny, and 00 sucked. I don't care for Sunrise, thank you.

Oh well, I forgot to mention that the macross part is wrong.

I'd feel bad for going off topic, but this is the jpop topic, so it's aaaaaaaaaaalright.

:zenitora:
Macross is amazing! What, did you watch only Macross 7 or something?

But, back on-topic. Now, in my number 3 spot is Ai Oboete Imasu Ka (Do You Remember Love?) by Mari Ijima.
Better known as Lynn Minmay :damon:

I'd have to say I'm more into J-Rock than J-Pop, although I am a fan of Hikaru Utada and Kotoko. I got into the former after, you guessed it, Kingdom Hearts, but "First Love" by her is a great song. As for Kotoko, "Re-Sublimity" and "Agony" from the anime Kannazuki No Miko are simply amazing songs. I want to get into her original work, too.

J-Rock-wise, I love An Cafe, D'espairsRay, Girugamesh, Abingdon Boys School, Nightmare, Alice Nine, Dir En Grey, Malice Mizer, and Daizy Stripper. My favorite songs by each artist are "Candyholic," "Hai To Ame," "Jarring Fly," "Howling," "Akane," "Ruri No Ame," "Merciless Cult," "Illuminati (P-Type)," and "Dandelion," respectively. I've also recently gotten into Versailles, sadly, after the death of their bassist, Jasmine You. (Bless your soul, You-sama. Anata no koto wo kangaeteiru.) Does anyone recommend anything by Versailles?
