Right now I'm listening to Don't Hate Me by Porcupine Tree. Quite an awesome song... I need to get some of their albums, definitely.

Here's one of my favorite Porcupine Tree tracks. Music from this period, off the album "The Sky Moves Sideways", could be characterized as very delirious and spacey. It's a lot like Pink Floyd meets Aphex Twin's ambient works in my mind. You can get a bit lost in the sound.

The accompanying music video is pretty intense, and may not be for kids/worksafe. It' a clip from a film; nothing risque, but a suicide is shown just off-camera.

Summoned Beast Battle, from Final Fantasy X.

Overall, a totally EPIC boss theme. Just enough time before it kicks in for a nice intro if need be, and then BAM.

Kickass filler song is kickass. Funny how a song they threw together in 15 minutes managed to become one of their biggest hits and most recognizable songs.

Sweet Leaf - Black Sabbath

MOAR BLACK SABBATH YEAH

Although they were the first to play what was defined as "heavy metal", I still say Judas Priest is more influential than them simply because they set the standard for every metal band to come after them: twin guitars, soaring vocals, excess speed and sound, and ripping solos. :rock'n:

Drowning by Rufio. I only know the chorus, but it's a catchy alternative tune. Pretty rare to find the studio version, though. I could only find it in an AMV. :\

Let the Good Times Roll by BB King and Bobby Blue

Ray Charles and BB King/Bobby Blue both did a recording of this song, but the latter did it MUCH better than Ray.

I like this song because its saying that if you want to have a good time, you can't just sit and wait for one to happen, you got to get up off your ass and make it happen. You gotta "Go out and spend some cash!". And just let the good times roll

Im probably the only R&B guy here xD

No you're not. Though I'm probably more of a soul / jazz / funk guy.
One of my favourite soul artists is Omar, by the way (especially the albums "Music" and "'This Is Not A Love Song" if you don't know him yet).
I also listen to a lot of classical / contemporary music (Ravel, Stravinski & Debussy) as well as pretty much everything Frank Zappa but souljazzfunk remains my first love ^^

As for Let The Good Times Roll, I really like both versions.

i liked the thread on the old forums more :( it had all my music reviews in it

i'm currently listening to Keane's new single, Spiralling. It's a really excellent song, and i love love love the melody that they do with the screeching guitar. It's really one of the first times in recent memory that i've been infatuated by a single song rather than an entire album. listen here.

oh, and i feel it is my duty as huge Boris fan to let you all know that i was sorely disappointed with Smile. it's just not on par with their older records, and not even their newer ones. were i to pick out something that i specifically didn't like about the album... i'd have to say it would be that it just didn't feel like i was listening to a Boris album; it felt more like a generic stoner metal album. i have heard tell that the japanese version is better, however, so once i give that a listen i will dutifully report back to this thread. their Smile tour that i saw a show of, however, was just awesome. the tracks they played off of Smile were just excellent live. i hope they tour again soon; seeing them twice just isn't enough for me :<

oh also i totally just read your post about F♯A♯∞, HH. isn't the spoken word just fucking awesome? goddamn. that album leaves me in such a haze after i finish it that i leave the locked groove on for a good five minutes.
