The Protomen are probably my favorite band. They're these guys from Nashville who make EPIC rock operas loosely (very loosely) based on the Mega Man series of games. They've released two acts so far, with a third on the way. The first act deals with the story of Protoman and Mega Man, with Act II describing Thomas Light's story and how the world got to be how it did in Act I.

The songs themselves are great, but they're nothing without the lyrics and stage directions:

Here are a few songs from the various albums:

Act I
The Will of One

Act II:
Light Up The Night

I wish I could show you more but I don't want to spoil it for people who care about that kind of stuff. They're really awesome.

Any other members of the resistance in the house?

Massive and well-needed bump from a fellow member of the resistance! I love The Protomen, so so much. The music, the stage directions, the storyline, the lyrics...all of it works together so well.

You don't have to wait very long. They'll be in San Diego on the 29th, Hollywood on the 30th and 31st, and they'll be at PAX next weekend.

Clearly, what you must do is fly up to Portland for the show there. Or Seattle, PAX is a pretty awesome event.

Anyway...yeah, I feel your pain. Ran into similar problems trying to get to their Murfreesboro show back in July. Wasn't a matter of money so much as transportation wasn't going to work out, though.

Awesome, I found a thread for the most badass band ever. I recently missed the chance to see them when they were over here. ...I'm an idiot.

Ugh, I've had the chance to see them TWICE, and both times something has come up. Very unhappy about that. I really hope the next time they come to Dayton or Cincinnati I can go. Probably will be able to now, especially since I have a music-loving friend with a car now.

So, who else loved that they actually played with The Megas in a few shows? Pretty surprised the world didn't implode or something.

I named my Squirtle Protoman in FireRed. And since I was Nuzlocking and recording, I made many references to the Protomen, such as when I was fighting Brock, all my Pokemon died without even touching Geodude, and Protoman wiped Brock out easily (obviously). I called the episode "Hope Rides Alone"
It was fantastic.

I didn't really download anything (I mean, I would download ABSOLUTELY NOTHING without compkete reassurance that I'll be safe from viruses and the such. I was a total NERD) at the time I discovered them, so I just got Act 1. I immediately set Hope Rides Alone as my ringtone. I've gotta say, that's my favorite, with House of Light in second.
