I know that Maya and Phoenix are in the game (obviously :3) but are their any other characters you want to see? I want to see Godot (Though i'm not sure what he'd do to help exactly) and Gumshoe. And you know how Mia comes to help out all the time? I really hope she comes around again to help out the team!

I dont thin to many more characters from aa will be good but maybe Edgeworth and Franny will be enough. With Phoenix and Maya they are the head characters of the serie imo.

I think the only one who could possibly appear would be Mia. She can be channeled, you know.

As for other characters, dunno, maybe there will be something simmilar to the Sonic Storybook games, where suspiciously simmilar look-alikes show up for no explicit reason. :will:

I would rather have just Phoenix+Maya and Layton+Luke. But if they MUST include other characters, make it just from the PL universe, like Remi/Emmy or... nobody else, really. Inspector Grosky. Any AA character they could include would be turned into comic relief, save for Edgeworth, of which, frankly, I'm kind of tired. I mean, I love AAI, but if he were in the crossover, it would be just plain old fanservice, and that's what AAI1 was for. I don't know you, but I really want zero fanservice in my PLvsAA.

Well I was previously thinking maybe Edgeworth or Gumshoe but DeMatador's post [which I'm in agreement with] has changed my mind on that matter. Of course, I wouldn't mind if they showed up, as long as it was done plot-relevantly and properly, and not to mention they included other Layton characters to, so the cast is balanced out.

I like Neni's idea of it being similar to the Sonic storybook games, though.

I think Maybe edgeworth and even less so Gummy but no-one else. I think, that some characters will appear in the puzzles, this will be enough, for example a puzzle about Lottas camera or somethin. I dunno. That's put them there without ruining the epic reactions between P & M and L & L

For Ace Attorney characters, I would like to see Mia, Gumshoe and Edgeworth, and for Professor Layton, I'd like to see Flora. Although, I wouldn't mind that much if they just had Nick, Maya, Layton and Luke.

While I'd prefer it to be just Layton, Luke, Nick and Maya, I'd like to see interaction between Inspector Chelmey and Detective Gumshoe. Chelmey makes a baseless accusation of how the murder played out, Gumshoe scratches his head and points out a fairly obvious flaw, then Chelmey snaps at him, wags his finger in his face and cuts his pay.

They could also get chummy-chummy because of their similar tastes in coats.

I can picture it now. Wendy getting stumped on one of the lost riddles, while Granny giggles at her, and in her frustration she rants about how back in her days jigsaw puzzles were the only puzzles around and if you lost a piece you went howling mad because it would end up unfinished.

Actually, although I'm against it, I think there IS a way for some fanservice to be included without ruining the atmosphere. But it would have to be at the very beginning or the very end of the game.

Let's see, both duos are "transported" to Labyrinth City, correct? It's a no-brainer that at least one scene will explain how they got in there, and one will explain how they got out. So, both of these scenes need to show them in their original universes, or at least the first one does (the one where we learn how they get to LC, I mean). Those flashbacks could include some brief cameos

But without counting on that, I rather leave the cameos to fanfiction writers.

Yes, the story lines were not exactly literary gems, but they were fun to play.

I found them fun to play. Not memorably much fun, but still.

I know what you mean, and I agree. But PL and AA are both very story-centric series, so an approach like the Sonic Storybook one simply wouldn't work here.

Anyway, back on topic, since it's Takumi handling the story here, I don't think there'll be any cameos during the main storyline. After all, this game could mean Takumi's return to Ace Attorney (Inafune said that they wanted PLvsAA to incite Takumi into making GS5), so I think he'll take it pretty seriously.

I don't really want any cameos at all, unless they're executed VERY WELL. AAI cameos were done horribly and forcefully, and I hope the creators realized that.

PWvsPL or however the hell we're acronym-ing it needs to be focused on the whole relationship of the four main characters. Any other random AA-universe character will just screw it up and really take away from what needs to be shown to make this the greatest game ever.

And if Oldbag's in it, I REFUSE TO PURCHASE THE DAMN THING. I'll borrow it from someone or something, but no one's getting any of my money if I see that woman again.

But I guess Mia would be fine. Edgeworth's appearance would have to be REALLY REALLY CREATIVE if it happened or that would be blatantly forced./hypocrisy

I doubt they'd include other characters, because they want to make the game accessible for new players, and players who have played one but not the other game.

Edgeworth won't be necessary, he has his own game after all. Same logic applies for Gumshoe and Franziska (even though I'd love to see Gumshoe and Chelmey together XD). I want to see Pearly, but I doubt she'd be in it.

Maybe Mia, channeled by Maya. But seeing how the story is about a witch hunt, wouldn't Maya channeling be interpreted as witchcraft, and therefore, not really wise for her to channel?

Just Nick, Maya, Layton, and Luke is fine. I can't think of a particularly good reason why other characters from either franchise would show up. Labyrinth City exists in a whole separate dimension after all. I wouldn't mind having a little easter egg in the background though.

Pretty much of the view that L+L and P+M are enough. I don't mind mentions or vague references to other characters, but enough with the rampant pointless cameos (Note: I do enjoy cameos, but use them wisely. Make them relevant FFS. And the next writing staff member who puts Meekins in their game is going to get such a facepunch). Of course, with Takumi working on the game, I sense that won't be a problem.

Wouldn't that be funny as hell? I can totaly see Maya channeling and then getting chased by people with torches. Same old Maya.
I wouldn't like it either when they put to many characters in there from other games.
Maybe Pearls at the first scene? (when they are still in their own universe)
Further than some little references (like characters in puzzles or in the background in the courtroom)
But if I have to chose who I would like to see:
Mia and Emmy (or maybe Dr.Schrader)

I agree that putting the other characters in for the sake of cameo fanservice is a bad idea.

However, I would like to see other side characters if done right. Perhaps they can be repurposed to fit into the medievalish setting (e.g. Gumshoe is one of the witch hunters). They could fit in all kinds of other characters this way from both universes.

Of course, a few strong original characters would be nice too.

For this game, aside from scenes at the very beginning and very end when, I assume, they're in their original worlds, I want no cameos. They wouldn't make sense. I want them to just stick to Phoenix, Maya, Layton, and Luke. :yogi:

For the cutscenes in their original worlds, which should be in there somewhere, they can do whatever the heck they want with it. :shoe:

The only possibilities for other characters being introduced are dead ones being channeled through Maya.

Dead-people-wise, I very much doubt that spirit channeling would be addressed in PL vs AA - there'll probably be some 'it doesn't work in this universe' explanation - but if it was it'd be really interesting to see Layton's and Luke's reactions.

Mia would be a fairly interesting character, all in all. I wouldn't mind seeing Edgeworth wandering into the time rift too, or w/e causes the worlds to collide and trying to figure out what the heck happened

Assuming we're going to have a scene/scenes at the beginning of the game establishing Phoenix and Layton's respective universes, not only would I like to see an Edgeworth cameo, I think it would make sense.

The way I imagine it: Phoenix and Maya come out from the courthouse, having just faced off in a trial against Edgeworth. Maybe Phoenix didn't win this time. Edgeworth comes up to him afterwards and gives him some friendly (or not so friendly, your choice) advice to not rely so much on bluffing and luck in court but to also use critical thinking or whatever. Seeing as this is going to be at least a partial-puzzle game, who better to get some parting tips from than the logic lover himself?

Edgeworth would probably question everything, otherwise it'd be a little out of character for him. Though, he could still be a great inclusion to the story, especially if he were to learn of Phoenix's disbarment, but then the story would have to take place after his disbarment and Phoenix would have to get his badge back when entering Labyrinth City. :yuusaku:

I actually don't really want anyone else to appear- it could get overburdened really fast. However, I wouldn't mind a few back ground cameos if we see Phoenix and Maya going to the Airport before they actually arrive where the actual crossing over takes place.

I also wouldn't mind a Channeled Mia appearance, since it wouldn't be hard to explain how she got there. Although it might involve to much background explanation for new players.

No that would be incredibly funny. But for the sake of layton's fan, only character making an image cameo in the puzzles would make my joy (works for both games). Come on layton's players, how many times did we see the characters over and over. Just a single cameo like that can't hurt anyone. Those who get it, well, get it, and those who don't, for them they are just random character meant to illustrate the puzzle.
