The stars Yuri Cosmos wears on the front of his jacket look just like the Starman from the classic Mario games.

There was something I read in an old Ask Ace Attorney-post that made me realize that the reason Godot "can't stand women like" Franziska might be because she reminded him of Dahlia.

I never understood why Gumshoe calls Franziska "sir" instead of "ma'am", but then I realized that it might be a cleverly disguised insult aimed at Franziska calling her a man, or at least very masculine and un-ladylike. Nah, that's too clever for Gumshoe.

Marcie always called Peppermint Patty "sir." Maybe it's based off of that.

(Or perhaps Gumshoe is actually a Sontaran and has trouble telling the difference).

I guess it's just a habit/respectful way of doing things. I dunno if Franny would be okay with Ma'am.

Mia's strategy of cross examining the defendant started in her first trial. Phoenix later used it in 5-2.

Ah dammit I meant 3-2, the MaskDeMasque case. But now that I think of it we do cross examine the defendant in 5-2.

Edit: and 5-1.

Originally I thought across examining the defendant came from 3-1 (because Phoenix references it in 3-2)

Though it should be noted that, at least in 1-4 and the first day of the trial in 3-2, the cross-examination of the defendant wasn't an intentional tactic on Phoenix's part.

Spoiler: 1-4, 3-2
The defendants in those cases confessed to their crimes and ended up testifying to that effect.

I'm going through 2-4 right now for my blog project, and something hit me.

There's no way de Killer would have suffered a wound that huge to his face that it'd need stitches all across. Most likely, it's a mask that happens to be tailored from the front. We may not even know how he actually looks like.

De Killer has damage animations when being cross examined, but never does he change his expression. The animation is him squeezing his ice cream cone so hard the ice cream flys out.

Hm...something similar happened in a recent issue of The Walking Dead

Surely an assassin as professional as De Killer would try to cover up the stitches to be inconspicuous, though?

That reminds me of the phantom, with the whole mask business... it's really sad, because phantom had potential to be on de Killer level of threat, but then he suddenly got stabbed by 11-year-old, started to suck at acting, kept incriminating himself further and broke down, despite alleged years of experience.

Still, I'm uncertain about it - I can't imagine de Killer looking any else, since the face we know fits his character so much.

Maybe his scar is like the Prince Zuko badge of shame; De Killer refused to kill someone at some point or something.

That's more for the headcanon thread, though

Maybe it's not so much a mask, but a prosthetic face that he stitched onto his own?

ThAt's whaT hE waNts yoU 2 tHink...

No, I'm sure it's because he stiched it himself, on his head. It's not easy stitching up a cover where you can't see. or maybe it's a zipper

Besides, whether he has a mask or prosthetic face on, it doesn't matter. We don't know his real name, after all. The "de Killer" lineage applies to anyone who follows its rules. It's why the cops can't just call up his parents or some relative and question them.

The face seems more precious to him than a simple mask, though. It's like when he's on the job, he takes up that identity. Perhaps this is another trademark of these assassins that make them so hard to catch. It's not just about catching them; but also cracking into their minds - if they even can.

Spoiler: 5-5
As for the Phantom, he's completely just an idiot for losing his cool so easily. A guy like this couldn't possibly be a de Killer.

The courthouse is ironically the most dangerous place in the Ace Attorney universe. 5 murders, 2 attempted murders, 2 assaults, a bombing, and an assassination attempt.
