Title speaks for itself.

I say Winston Payne.
I can't explain why, but I just don't think he deserves any of the hate he gets.

Yeah, I like Winston. I find him funny in his own way, even with his overall character concept small (at least it was established he had a wife), and I wish over the course of the games he got gradually smarter with prosecuting and made himself more popular, maybe even as wise (but not evil) as Manfred von Karma.
...Maybe that's going a little overboard, but that's just my opinion.

By destroying Misty's reputation, he ruined the lives of pretty much everyone in the Fey clan (including Morgan and Dahlia, which directly led to the overarching plots in JfA and T&T) and supposedly had the entire legal system in his pocket due to his information network.


It's really ridiculous that someone with so much clout and such an impact on the story went down like a complete chump in the second case. Definitely should have been a "final case" villain.

I have to agree with you about Redd White. Maybe not as the "final case" villain, but I thought he would at least show up again, or at least get mentioned by name.

Jake Marshall. He was my favorite character form rise from the ashes. Hes funny and yet serious, his theme song is good and his backstory is just interesting

his brother died so tragically and he in order to slove the mystery that surrounded the death he broke in to the evidence room only to get caught and sent to the detention center which was not a the ending I had hoped for him

Winston Payne is fun to have around, to be sure. I was legitimately offended when he wasn't in DD.

On the other hand, as a character, I just don't care about him much. But I do have certain "vastly underrated" faves. I like Lotta Hart more than is reasonable. I'm not even sure why. She's just so fun. Angel Starr, too. Man, Angel is great.

And my best friend loves Lisa Basil and honestly I agree. Love that weird totally-not-a-robot lady.

So I guess not hated characters, here, just forgotten ones. Give my minor babes some love.

So much yes for Viola.

One of the other underrated characters for me is Penny Nichols. She was pretty much one of the less hysterical people in the first game even after she yells for a Steel Samurai card trade.

Penny Nichols is an underrated fave for certain!

I may be going a little too far with mine, but I really love Akbey Hicks from AAI. Like, I don't even know why. Okay actually I know why, but let me get to that in a bit. We literally don't get to know much about him at all because he's just a victim in the case, but I guess I know I love him because he is the most attractive victim I have ever seen in my entire life ?????

I agree on Penny Nichols too. Mostly she's only brought up because of how bland/forgettable she is, but I genuinely like her.

In my opinion, we don't see enough love for Rhoda Teneiro, I hardly ever see anybody talk about her and I thought she was a really good character.

Ron Delite. Granted, he probably is more popular with fans than I would think... I haven't talked on AA forums or anything before to really find out, but I see very scarce fan art.

A friend of mine also knew Ace Attorney before me and couldn't understand why I liked him so much. Our spat went something like this:

"Spider, nobody else cares about Cinnabons!" (referencing his hair)

I don't think I've ever met anyone else who actually likes Wesley Stickler, but he's always been my favourite of the obnoxious-and-over-the-top witness characters.

I also quite like Jake Marshall, Acro, Valant Gramarye, and Herman Crab, none of whom really seem to get that much love.

The anime version is actually a bit smarter, thankfully.

However, the live-action-movie version is the crappiest of them all.

For me, it's Lana Skye. She was very interesting, and she didn't deserve to disappear completely from the series! Since her debut, she only got a passing mention in Ace Attorney Investigations. She must come back and investigate crime scenes with Ema!

Apart from her, I would like to see Iris again. And Shi Long Lang making a cameo in the main series!

I'd love to see Lana Skye or Angel Starr again.

Anyway, after playing AJ recently, Winfred "Big Wins" Kitaki really stood out. I love his design, specifically his eyebrows.

Definitely Herman Crab! That aro Spike Spiegel lookalike needs more love.

Viola's pretty great (and the only character in 3-3 that I actually like) and I love Aura. Also, Ray Shields and Simon Keyes from AAI2.

For me, it would have to be Winston Payne. After a role in every first case, he does become a familiar face, and I enjoyed his frivolous attempts to object to the protagonist's arguments. No offence to Gaspen, but he just doesn't feel the same as Winston.
