Yes. Some screenshots have been released here (recently or not, I don't know), confirming some names.
Okay, I know that most of you don't really care but... there are still the others, so uh... XD
I'll try to complete when the game will be released in French. (Maybe today?.. Because of a Québécois law, games released in Québec now must be in French, and since Québec is in America...)

Case 4-1
Masaka Sakai - Olga (First name or surname, don't know.)

Case 4-2
Takita Kitaki - Willy Kitaki
Koume Kitaki - Petit Ange Aki Kitaki (WTF?!)

Also, Konrad is definitely confirmed as Klavier's French name.

And the significations of the names...
Olga is just a name that sounds Russian.
Also, she speaks approximatively French. (That may not be the case in English.) Also use some Russian words, such as "Da" (Yes).

Willy Kitaki... Well, honestly, I don't know. Maybe a sort of tongue twister.
Talks like a "banlieue" (suburb?..) young'un (not sure of the word).

Petit Ange Aki Kitaki... "Petit Ange" means "Little Angel". But for the rest, maybe a tongue twister like Willy Kitaki.

Oh, and, just a little thing... Apollo's hair are refered as "cheveux en pétard" ("firecracker hair") "tête de pétard" ("firecracker head"). If these sentences look a bit "weird" to you, just know that "cheveux en pétard" is a common expression used for persons whose hair are a bit "messed up".
English isn't my first language, so I apologize if you don't understand me. But this doesn't mean that you are not allowed to correct me, eh.

I have only one thing to say : O.M.G.

I used to bitch A LOT about the french version of JFA, but I can't imagine this one won't end worst.

Why can't they do as well as they did with the first game ? Very much like I'd never play the french version of JFA over the english one, I've never felt the need to play the english version of AA1, since the translation was brilliant :/

I guess you're right. The only reason why I doubt about being a first name or a surname was the fact that surnames are generally the ones displayed in the textboxes...

Agreed about JFA. Some stuff were good, but most of the translation was, uh, screwed up - spelling mistakes, strange sentences, etc.
However, what we have seen of the French version was only few screenshots... and we can't really judge something just with a sample. The French localisation may be a total opposite to JFA - some bad stuff, but mostly good things. So, uh, I hate to say that but, wait and see.

Bref, on verra.
(Même si les noms me font plutôt peur, pour l'instant)

Translation matters aside... I wonder if they'll actually dare to release AJ before T&T ? o_O

The rom is already released!.. not that I won't buy the game... but I couldn't just wait...
(Please note that the rom is currently only avalaible in German and French. Weird.)

So far, I'm still at case 2... so, you'll have to wait for the next cases. But whatever.

Voices:
Apollo's French Objection. Don't know what to think about it.
Apollo's "Un instant !" (= "Hold it!"). Sounds better than Phoenix's "Un instant !" to me.
Apollo's "Prends ça !" (= "Take that!"). I don't find it very convincing. (Please note that I don't know how to remove the music.)
Apollo's "J'te tiens" (= "Gotcha!").
Kristoph's French Objection . I didn't like it the first time I heard it... but now, well, I find it not that bad.
Klavier/Konrad's French Objection . Well... maybe a bit too high pinchy, but except that, I think it's okay.

Character Names:

General:
Apollo Justice: Unchanged
Phoenix Wright: Unchanged
Kristoph Gavin: Unchanged
Klavier Gavin: Konrad Gavin
Trucy: Vérité — Litterally, it means "truth".
Polly: Pollo — ... XD
Ema Skye: Unchanged.

Case 1: "Atout et volte-face" (That's exactly the same translation I though...)

Borscht Bowl Club: Borsch Club

Winston Payne: Victor Boulay
Shadi Smith: Enzo Gomez — Except the fact it sounds Spanish, I have no idea about its ethymology.
Olda Orly: Unchanged. — Weird. Doesn't match to the expression "Oh vraiment ?" (= "Oh really?"), but at least, there was a reference to the "aéroport d'Orly".

Case 2: "Boulevard des volte-face"
Wright Talent Agency: Agence artistique Wright
Wright Anything Agency: Agence à tout faire Wright
Hickfield Clinic: Clinique Chambouseux — Portmanteau of "Champ" (Field) + "Bouseux" (Erm... dungy?).
People Park: Parc communal
Eldoon's Noodle: Unchanged. — I guess it's because of the stand.
Meraktis Clinic: Clinique Meraktis
Mr. Salty (If I'm not mistaken): M'sieur Salé
Rivales Family: Famille Rivot — Based on "Rivaux", plural of "Rival" in French.
Ivy H.: Université Henri Baucout — Probably a pun of "On rit beaucoup" (= "We laugh a lot", or "We are having a lot of fun").
Herr Forehead: M. Grand Front

Dr. Hickfield: Dr. Chambouseux
Guy Eldoon: Unchanged. — Same thing: maybe because of his stand?..
(Note: He's not "Pat Aldante" — Pun of "Pâtes Al Dente" (=Al Dente Pasta))
Wocky Kitaki: Willy Kitaki — Alliteration?..
Plum Kitaki: Petit Ange Aki Kitaki — Same thing? (Petit ange = "Little Angel")
Winfred "Big Wins" Kitaki: Ken "Gros Gains" Kitaki — ...Eh?
Alita Tiala: Unchanged.
Wesley Stickler: Edgar Tatillon — A "tatillon" is someone who is too... careful. Translation: "finicky", maybe?
Pal Meraktis: Paul Meraktis — What? That's a THIRD Paul! "Paul Defès" (Larry Buttz), "Paul Afforme" (Turner Gray)... and now, Paul Meraktis. Meh.

As my first impressions of the localization... well, it's quite good. At least, I haven't found a typo yet; maybe some weird expressions, but I guess that's just because of the fact I didn't know them.
However... I would blame the translator(s) for one thing: they removed some jokes. But... maybe it couldn't be helped.
There is a little contradiction: Ema, at the end of AA1, said that she was going to study in USA... but, in AA4, she says that she studied in England!.. and I don't think USA and England are the same thing. Duh. (That's in the French version, of course.)
Klavier/Konrad doesn't use German expressions.
I liked Wocky/Willy's talking style. A lot of familiar expressions and slang... that was funny.

Anyway, if CR wants to use the voices I recorded or the explanations of the name puns, they can (except Apollo's "Prends ça !", since I couldn't record it properly).
English isn't my first language, so I apologize if you don't understand me. But this doesn't mean that you are not allowed to correct me, eh.

I think that 'Gras' means fat, and that 'Gros' means large. I'm only a year 2 student.
And according to a translator, 'gains' is profits.
So, Ken 'Large Profits' Kitaki.

I don't think I'd be able to fully understand this game based on my limited knowledge though...

Uh... Phoenix Tears, I think you posted almost everything I already reported. XD
And by the way, it's "Olga les doigts d'or" — you'll never see a "-ght" in a French word. But thanks for putting what I forgot. :phoenix:

Anyway,

That's it. But the problem is, well, "Gros Gains" doesn't even sound like a nickname at all.

flames05 wrote:

... Eh? I don't think "Konrad" is strange, since it's a "real" name, whereas "Klavier"... isn't.

Now, more translated stuff:

Snackoos: Unchanged.
Klavier/Konrad is said to have done his studies... in England, not in Germany.

I'll now put all the elements under spoilers... Proceed at your own risks!
Note that I have finished case 3 yet, so some things such as "Borginian Cocoon" or "Incuritis" are missing.

Case 3: "Volte-face et Sérénade"

Spoiler: "Case 3"
The Gavinners: Les Gavinners
Guilty Love: Amour Coupable
Random songs:
- Jugés coupables
- 13 ans de prison par amour
- Amour sans remise de peine
- J'aime le témoin à charge

"The Siren of the Ballad": "La Sirène de la ballade"
Borginia: Borginie
Borginian: Borginais(e)

Daryan's Guitar: "Guigui" — AWESOME NAME XD

"Guitar Serenade": "Sérénade pour une guitare"
Lyrics:
Quote:
Mon amour, Mon amour...
Ce soir-là, enlacés.
Quand tu as dérobé les clés
que mon cœur serrait si fort.

Le plaisir, Le plaisir...
C'est une mélodie éphémère
Qui autour de moi s'étire
Et me fait planer en l'air.

Woh... Woh...

Un feu dans mon cœur.
Qui brûle l'amour que j'ai.
Comme une balle faite d'amour
Qui n'attend que de me tuer.

Guitare, Guitare.
Ensemble vers le Paradis.

Lamiroir: Unchanged.
Romein LeTouse: Romain LeTouse
Machi Tobbaye: Tomas Kashkash — "Kashkash" sounds like "Cache-cache", the French for "Hide and seek".
Daryan Crescend: Unchanged.

I also managed to get the French "Gotcha!" "sprite":
Image

I bet Spark Brushel is called "Bruce Adam" in French. (It sounds like "Brosse à dents", or "Toothbrush" in English. :p )
English isn't my first language, so I apologize if you don't understand me. But this doesn't mean that you are not allowed to correct me, eh.

Konrad's French objection sounds really great :redd:

And Apollo had to stay as Apollo unless they were going to copyright another name. And 'Apollo' still works; it's the name of the Greek sun god, or something like that.

Phoenix stayed the same in French versions of the Phoenix Arc, so why is it so strange that Apollo follows suit? Ema's and Kristoph's names stay the same and Hickfield (or Hotti) was already posted in the topic as Dr. Chambouseux.

I must say, the French lyrics to The Guitar's Serenade are much much better and better sounding than English. The English lyrics were cheesy enough to make me want to jump off a building every time that stinking video played. >_>

I like most of the French names too. Maybe I can get the games in French and claim I'm just keeping up with the language over the summer... Willy instead of Wocky just makes me laugh.

"Cantilène" is a german epic poem/song as well as a musical phrase.

EDIT (in French, that is.)

Spoiler:
Also, I think Enzo Gomez might also be called that because "gommer" means "to erase". He's "erased" his past.

Case 3: "Volte-face et Sérénade" (End)
Spoiler: "Case 3 (End)"
One more random song: Atroquinine, mon amour
Sunshine Coliseum: Colisée du Soleil
Bullet the Magic Cat (if I'm not wrong): Munitions le Chat Magique
Borginian cocoon: Cocon borginais
Incuritis: Incuratis

By the way, "Jugés Coupables" wasn't the name of a song, but the name of the Gavinners' tour.

Case 4: "Volte-face et Succession"
Spoiler: "Case 4"
MASON System: Unchanged
Jurist System: Système de jury
Drew Studio: Studio Joseph
Atroquinine: Unchanged.
Troupe Gramarye: Troupe Grimoire

Valant Gramarye: Virgil Grimoire
Zak Gramarye: Zachary Grimoire
Magnifi Gramarye: Melchior Grimoire (AKA "Melchior le Magnifique")

Drew Misham: Joseph Monin — I had to make research for this but... Apparently, there's a real Joseph Monin, and this guy is also a painter!.. Coincidence?.. Still... I don't think that guy is very famous...
Vera Misham: Vera Monin
Spark Brushel: Eddy Taurial — From "éditorial". Do I need to give a translation? :p

Note:
Spoiler: "Two 4-4 names"
"Shadi Enigmar" and "Thalassa Gramarye"
are still missing. I'm still on it. So, unless someone else post them, I'll at least post one more time in this topic. :phoenix:

However, I slightly messed up with the recording volume level. Yeah, the sound saturated a bit.

Anyway,

Huh... uh... Sorry. I'm sometime a bit harsh... but this wasn't what I wanted. Sorry again. :meekins:

I must say, the French lyrics to The Guitar's Serenade are much much better and better sounding than English. The English lyrics were cheesy enough to make me want to jump off a building every time that stinking video played. >_>

I like most of the French names too. Maybe I can get the games in French and claim I'm just keeping up with the language over the summer... Willy instead of Wocky just makes me laugh.

Weird. I found the French lyrics a bit, uh, "cheesy" too. I guess it's better when you don't completely understand them, huh? XD
But... can you guys tell me... what's wrong with "Willy"? I don't get it. :udgy:
...yeah.
English isn't my first language, so I apologize if you don't understand me. But this doesn't mean that you are not allowed to correct me, eh.

Willy can be used as another word for a part of the male anatomy >_> I thought it was funny for Wocky because somehow it's just more silly than Wocky to me.

I think it's a lot easier to appreciate something when it's written in another language. Plus, I do only have a pretty limited knowledge of French. I guess the lyrics were just supposed to be really cheesy.

"Cantilène" is a german epic poem/song as well as a musical phrase.

EDIT (in French, that is.)

Apart from that, Kantilen sounds like the musical instrument kantele, although if that's the case, they've made some serious typo's. Also, I don't see how kantele would fit Klavier, but then again, he's no pianist either...

"Guitar Serenade": "Sérénade pour une guitare"
Lyrics:
Quote:
Mon amour, Mon amour...
Ce soir-là, enlacés.
Quand tu as dérobé les clés
que mon cœur serrait si fort.

Le plaisir, Le plaisir...
C'est une mélodie éphémère
Qui autour de moi s'étire
Et me fait planer en l'air.

Woh... Woh...

Un feu dans mon cœur.
Qui brûle l'amour que j'ai.
Comme une balle faite d'amour
Qui n'attend que de me tuer.

Guitare, Guitare.
Ensemble vers le Paradis.

Those lyrics don't even fit the notes. They did so good on the English version. :\
