Excuse me, but...can someone please help me with this puzzle?
Sorry if this has been posted before.
There are 5 bags that look the same, each of them contains 5 marbles. One bag is slightly different than the others - it contains marbles that are a bit heavier than the rest. Like, suppose the normal marbles weigh 10 grams each, so a whole bag would weigh 50 grams. The heavier marbles weigh 10,1 grams each, so the one different bag would be 0,5 grams heavier than the normal ones.
Now, how do you recognize the heavier bag? There is an ordinary analog scale that can help you...but you may only use it once. Yup, only once. And that's what got me confused in the first place...

Shortly speaking, if there's a 1 after the point, it was the first bag, if there's a 2, it was the second, if there is a 3, it was the third and so on.

It is in Professor Layton (first one IIRC), but it's phrased a bit differently. Instead of asking how you do it by using a scale one time, they ask you what the lowest number of times you need to use the scale is.

each sack had seven cats, each cat had seven kittens -> 56 cats (including kittens) per sack.
Each wife had seven sacks -> 7x56 -> Each wife had 392 cats...
I met a man with seven wives -> 7x392 -> 2744 cats in total.
2744 + 7 (wives) + 1 (the man) + 1 (you) -> 2753 (?)

Did Gloria cut her mouth drinking from a glass and then drop it? And, the shards are unrelated? Maybe Beatrice was strangled, not stabbed.
