Oh, you got the tickets! Good work, my dear, good work~ You're about to have the most intense gig experience you've ever had- Paul plays a three hour set not incuding encores and it's PHENOMENAL <3 Some Wings stuff, some solo material and a lot of Beatles tunes- so amazing!

Watch out for Live and Let Die- they always let off some awesome pyrotechnics during the song :3

If I were allowed to relive one day of my entire life before dying, I would choose November 11th.

In the way to the stadium, my car broke down. I spent around 2 or 3 hours trying not to cry. But, long story short, we got there on time, and it was the best time I had in my entire life. One of the best parts: we all thought he would start off with Venus and Mars/Rock Show like he usually does... and instead he rocked out Magical Mystery Tour. And Something? And A Day In The Life/Give Peace a Chance?

It was simply mindblowing. I was literally mindblown. I've never been attracted this much to a 68-year-old man.

Oh hell no it's not a signed ticket. I would sell both my kidneys for one of those.
The ticket just had that printed into it as a tour logo :P

But still, it is a great thing to cherish.

My dad bought all the remastered stuff. I hate what they did to Let it Be, but I'm fine with the rest of it, since we never used to have all of their albums.

Anyways, maybe this comes with being older XD, but I love the Beatles so much more now. White Album is my favorite, followed by Revolver. My favourite songs are While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Hapiness is a Warm Gun and Eleanor Rigby. All of their songs are amazing though, of course. <3

Well, in the time since I last posted in this topic, I started to learn the guitar. And yes, I've been learning pretty much Beatles songs exclusively (though I've managed to slip in some Pink Floyd/Clapton/Rivers in there). The thing is, though the songs aren't shred-tastic finger-burners (though George's parts in One After 909 comes close!), they're beautifully complex in their own way.

Take, for example, I've Got A Feeling. John's Epiphone Casino growls away primarily on an A chord, while George's Tele bites in with some nice bright licks. Nothing too complex once you've broken it down and learned it, but nevertheless, it sounds wonderful. And is great fun to play!

(And for anyone wondering, my guitar is a Squier Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster, Butterscotch Blonde and with an Ash-Tray bridge cover. One day I'll have enough money to buy a full Rosewood Telecaster like George's!).

Whilst I'm here, anyone a fan of The Rutles? I think their allure is all about the trousers.

You got Magical Mystery Tour? I have so much envy towards you right now- he started with Venus and Mars when I went to see him :3 I love the live version Paul does of Something with the ukelele <3 And I have to admit to also utterly falling in love with him after seeing him live :edgy:

You hate the remastered version or the original? I love Let It Be Naked, it's got such a stripped-down feel to it that for me beats the dubious production on the original- the version of The Long and Winding Road on Let It Be Naked is amazing <3

Hmm. I don't think they "did" anything to the remaster of Let It Be to make it different to the original release. Unless you listened to Let It Be...Naked first, in which case Phil Spector's 'wall of sound' would be incredibly noticeable.

I Me Mine sounds so much better without the orchestral accompaniment.

I read somewhere that he had performed MMT in some locations, but he had never opened a concert with it until this one. I feel so darn lucky!

His version of Somewhere inspired several tears from people all ages, including my dad and myself.
Also, not to be nitpicky, but it's a mandolin :3 Learned it from the Dance Tonight video, which is awesome by the way.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure it was a ukelele when I went to see him- he told this story beforehand about how George had taught him to play the ukelele and Something was the first song he learnt~

Oh yeah, that IS an ukulele. Now I don't recall what he played over here, but I think it was a mandolin. Could be wrong tho.

I make no apology for resurrecting this topic to say...

I have got tickets to see Paul McCartney at the O2 arena in London!

O.M.G.

To clear up the Ukulele subject... he plays something on a Uke, yes. He plays Dance Tonight on a Mandolin (that was "mistakenly delivered to him by McKenzie Crook lol (Natalie Portman + Paul McCartney = <3))

My Beatles song of the moment: I want her/She's so heavy. Learning to play it you see.

Gosh, where were you sitting?
I was in Block 107, the first row of tiered seating, next to the camera men and the black sheet covering some of the seats.
How amazing were the quiet numbers though. Here Today and yesterday were so tender, but Blackbird blew me a way. No other performer could, with just their gentle voice and acoustic guitar, capture a 20000 strong arena like Paul. You.could hear a pin drop, he shrunk the stadium down so it was like being in his living room. Astounding.

And as for the Live and Let Die fireshow, hahaha amazing. And Something on the Ukulele was stunning too. Great tribute to George.

I could go on for hours, just out of this world. He's my main musical inspiration, and I never thought I'd see him live. I'm still pinching myself now.

HOW DID YOU GET THOSE SEATS? :O *envy* I was in 401, which sounds bad but it was right next to the stage, even though we were a little higher up, so the sound was awesome.

Blackbird blew my mind- I was crossing my fingers so tightly for him to play it and I was absolutely over the moon when he did <3 I was so disappointed when he didn't play Drive My Car last year when I saw him at Hyde Park (for some reason, I've always wanted to hear it live) so his playing it on Monday was pretty special.

The man's still got it (as I believe he probably always will ):D

In those seats you were literally over the moon then during Blackbird as that's what was on screen at the time XD

How did I get those seats? I was online the second they went on sale refreshing my search furiously.

First attempt I found three seats in 112, directly below you I think, but passed them up (probably a mistake in hindsight) but then after a few desperate minutes of refreshing, up came 107, row AA seats 210-212.***ADD TO CART***

Thought they sounded great. Was a bit disappointed when I got there and during the first two songs I had photographers standing on a raised plinth in front of me. Fortunately they buggered off after Junior's Farm and although a little distant, had a clear sight of him. You probably had a closer view in fairness though.

Was amazed people were leaving before the encore. RONNIE WOOD PLAYING GET BACK AAAAAAAAAA!
Then the saps who hadn't done their research and left after the first encore. Then Paul was like 'LOL JK there's a second one. Yesterday, Helter Skelter and Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End"

Here is a video I took of Something: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA5oH4WqrYc&hd=1

To give you an idea of my position.

Best night ever, glad someone else here shared it. Was my first time seeing him, so extra special.

REVOLVER IS DELICIOUS...

I firmly believe in Tomorrow Never Knows as, 'essentially,' the first really good electronic song.

"BUT PRINTER, THERE ARE NO ELECTRONICS IN THAT SONG?!"

PISH POSH!

Between Ringo's repetitive syncopated drum rhythm, the reverse guitar samples, the fact it was one of the first occurrences of live sampling, (that sort of seagull noise is a sped up laugh track, the orchestra samples - all of those were recorded live by creating tape loops and playing them in live!) and Lennon's voice through a sinister Leslie speaker...

For me, I was like "this is electronic music right here. This is an electronic song." At least from the platform of the 2000s, I really see it that way.

But yeah every track on Revolver is an absolute gem, from the feel good tracks to, again, the more producer oriented psychedelic tracks like Taxman (May be my favorite Beatles track) and Tomorrow Never Knows.

If you've never heard the vinyl version of Revolver, make it a point to...the bass guitar all over it sounds so warm and syrupy and great, you can really hear the depth of the mics on the drums - George Martin really knows how to capture the sound of a room. It's quite an experience you can't get digitally.
