I was reading what the names in AA meant until I wondered:

Do the names in Ghost Trick mean anything?
I noticed Temsik is kesmit backwards which means "fate or destiny".

Most of the names are related to death & life. I haven't played the English version, so not sure about some of the English names...

Sissel <- Shiseru (to die)
Lynne <- Rinne (reincarnation)
Kuneri (the lamp) <- Kunekune (meander, twist)
Kanon (the girl) <- Kannon (as in the Bodhisattva)
Cabanela <- Kabanera <- Shikabane (Corpse)
Sith <- Shisu (to die)
Jiigo <- Jigoku (Hell)
Tengo <- Tengoku (Heaven)

Etc, etc.

:o I never would've picked up on most of those...

But I always thought Kanon's was Cannon & Missile xP (I suppose that could be why he recycled the name Missile, rather than why he chose the name Kanon.)

Kabanela's name hardly makes sense though, he's far from dead, one of the most animated members of the cast.

Though Jiigo and Tengu just got cooler knowing their meaning.

If anyone wants to know what the English names are:

Spoiler: For spoilers
Sissel = Sissel (duh)
Lynne = Lynne
Kuneri (the lamp) = Ray
Kanon = Kamila
Cabanela = Cabanela
Sith = Sith
Jiigo = Jeego
Tengo = Tengo

After this, I can only describe the characters, as I don't know their Japanese names. I won't name the characters with only titles (like the Justice Minister). The meanings for the names that I gave I got from TV Tropes, so they may not be correct.

The bearded detective: Jowd
The dog: Missile (not that anyone didn't know this)
The kidnappers: Danny (only named in their theme) and Beauty
The main villain: Yomiel (-> Yomigaeru (to be revived)
The writer lady: Emma
The writer lady's daughter: Amelie
Undercover waitress: Memry
Jowd's wife: Alma
Panic dancer: Bailey (means bailiff)
Tell me if I forgot anyone.

Yomiel's Japanese name actually references Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

Yomiel = Yomieru
Yomieru = Yomigaeru

And the Japanese name for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney? Gyakuten Saiban: Yomigaeru Gyakuten.

More like a reference to Rise from the Ashes.

The name being a reference to case 5 would make a ton of sense.
It's clever.

Regarding "Temsik", it's "kismet" spelled backwards. Also, "destiny" in my mother tongue, Hindi, is "kismat". Spelled backwards? "Tamsik" -> "Temsik".
