Mmkay, that's what it looked like to me too (if you look more closely at his sprites you can tell) but I've seen some fanarts of him with short hair, and I suppose it's possible the smilies mislead me.

Right. Most fanartists and such just go off what it looks like from the front, and don't check the courtroom sprite.
Daian really has a looooooot of hair... it's really no wonder why he can pull off such a giant pompadour. He's even got hair to spare after doing that.
