I noticed it too. But I didn't do an .xcf this time around since it was a rush job.
But that sorta gives it character.And It'll probably be gone soon. The next round of Mafia is coming soon!

In it's current state, it is worthless, so I am gonna do an almost total work-over on it.
My first step is to alter it's color-scheme from a blue to that of something similar to the clothing on the goons in your avatar.
It's really sketchy, and too thin, but I know how to make it better so far (and that is to make it less sketchy and widen it out! *boot'd*).

Old OC sprite.I'm going to rebuild it from the new sprites.
And I would love to see someone make that! With a few thing in mind.
As part of Don's background he's second cousin's with detective Gumshoe. (Hence the family good looks.)
He's also one year older than Trucy Wright in the AA time line. He's about 6 at the start of the Phoenix arc so if you make him at the sprite's age of 20 gumshoe will have to be much older.
I'll post his "full" back story after the contest.
Ironically, the "Cousin" part was also what I was thinking too... he doesn't seem like he'd be a brother of his, but definitely a cousin, for sure.
Also, for how he's introduced, I'm wondering if there could be him handing Apollo/Phoenix/Trucy (Whoever is around when he's first shown) a cup of cocoa. Though Phoenix and Maya, I could imagine a few funny lines, mainly that Maya would keep asking if either:
a) He is the Anti-Gumshoe (Eoh Smug...?).
b) If he's Gumshoe's Clone, or Brother (Both times, Don would refuse, but every time he tries to say his relation, Maya keeps asking questions and cutting him off)
c) If he has ever met a guy who... (Then she keeps naming trait after trait of Gumshoe).
At least, those are how I see it whenever I picture it...

Let's just say he's around the AA world during the beginning of the Phoenix arc. And his story follows quite a bit of his RP life.

I look just like I was ELEVEN YEARS AGO. But now I have some fine lines that manage to NOT be clearly visible in photos, only noticeable if people meet me face-to-face & observe CLOSELY (which I won't allow, so I tend to end conversations fast before people get the chance to realise how old I really am from my face).

I don't think he would look the same 14 years later.
As for his role, he owns a coffee shop. (As per my Coffee Shop RP.)
And remember what I said about the Tree and who I compared his age to.
As for how he fits into the AA world and how he is introduced, that is my little surprise that I'll unveil after the contest.

I already have it planed out, I just need to get it and the sprite sheet ready to go.
