Location: The Wright Residence
"Here ya go, Polly!" said an upright Trucy grasping her top hat because it had almost fallen off due to her Sonic-The-Hedgehog like run down the hall.
She faced and opened a door that read "Phoenix’s Room", and went in. She couldn’t look any more suspicious in doing so.
"Here it is!’’, she picked up a dusty laptop.
She dusted it off, and handed it to me. I took it, and thanked her.
"Polly, I’ll be outside practicing a trick that Uncle Valant taught me.’’
"What is It?’’, I asked.
“It’s a surprise, so don’t come outside!”
She closed the door behind her, and I sat down on what I believed to be a swivel chair. I cautiously opened the laptop, and pressed the on button. The computer was loading when I took a quick glance at a picture frame that was facing the wall. I turned it around, and inside was a picture of two girls. They were wearing the oddest clothing, and a strange gem in the middle of their necklaces. On the bottom it read, ‘’With Love, Maya.’’ While I pondered on if I had ever heard that name before, the computer made a *ping* noise, and the computer asked me if I wanted to update my Itunes software. I clicked ‘’Cancel’’, only to reveal a single folder on the desktop that read ‘’Court Record.’’
I quickly thought to myself, “Click the folder, what Mr. Wright doesn’t know won’t hurt him, right?’’, I couldn’t help myself any longer, and double clicked the folder. The screen went pitch black, and an icon of an Attorneys Badge appeared along with icons of the years 2013-2019. It asked me which year and case number I would like to read about. I chose the year 2018, and three cases appeared on the screen. "State vs. Engarde’’, "State vs. Delite’’, and "State vs. Byrde.’’ Naturally, I clicked on the first one, only to be confronted by a slow loading bar. While it loaded, I couldn’t help but thinking if this had anything to do with the child actor named "Matt Engarde’’, I had watched his show called "Nickel Samurai’’, as a child.
The screen read:
Synopsis: Child Actor Matt Engarde was accused of killing Juan Corrida, otherwise known as The Jammin Ninja.
Case Status: Matt Engarde was found Guilty, after a man named Shelley De Killer (Real Name Unknown), testified to being hired by Matt Engarde to kill Juan Corrida.
Side Notes: Matt Engarde managed to get out on a $1,000,000 bail, only to be found dead three days later in his villa, with a single stab wound to the carotid artery. Only one piece of evidence was found, and that was a laminated card with a Shell Logo on it.
......
Before I let all that information sink in, I heard the door open. I quickly closed the Court Records window, and turned myself around only to find out that I was not sitting in a swivel chair. I fell to the ground, taking the chair with me.
"You alright?’’, I heard a familiar voice ask.
I stood up, and found myself face to face with Mr. Wright himself.
"What were you watching on there? Porn?’’, he said with a smile.
"OH MY GOD, NO I WAS------" I screamed.
"No need to scream, save it for the courtroom tomorrow.’’ he replied.
"Tomorrow…?’’, I looked at him.
"Yeah, I got you a case, it involves an old friend.’’
My spine chilled from the half second mental picture of Kristoph Gavin.
"His name is Larry Butz, and he’s been accused of murder’’, he said, almost hinting as if this weren’t the first time he had said that.
"Where is the case file’’, I reluctantly asked.
"I put it on the living room table, read it tonight’’, he said.
With his body language, I knew he wanted me out of the room, so I walked out, took the case file, and said goodbye to Trucy, and Mr. Wright. Little did I know, I was about to get in over my head, all for a man who had been accused of murder twice.
