Chapter 1: Mia’s Talk
Pearl opened the door to the channelling chamber. She wanted to help Maya. Maya was so lonely these days ever since Phoenix had left her at the village. Even with Pearl there, she still went off by herself every now and again to the waterfall that was used for channelling and sat there. Sometimes Pearl secretly followed her and saw Maya crying there. Pearl didn’t have to ask why. Maya missed Phoenix. Pearl knew that Maya would never admit it, but Pearl knew how she really felt. Maya had loved Phoenix, but didn’t even know it. Pearl had decided to call her sister and leave a note that said what was happening. It was the only thing that Pearl could do. Maya needed someone at that moment. Pearl knew that more than anything else. Pearl sat down on the channelling mat and started channelling. Suddenly Mia came into the world. She read the note Pearl had left. She knew straight away what she had to do. Mia went off to find Maya. She found her by the waterfall. Mia sat down beside her and talked to her.
“What’s up, Maya? You seem sad.” said Mia.
“Oh, sis.....I’m so alone. Ever since Nick left, I’ve come out here every day and thought about him. It’s just so hard to live without him. I just wish he hadn’t left me. I don’t think Pearly understands. Who called you, anyway?”
“It was Pearl who called me,” replied Mia, “She was worried about you. She noticed you weren’t being yourself and thought I could help.”
“But how? How could she ever understand how I feel? She’s smart and all, but she’s only a little kid!”
Mia then said, “I think you misjudge her. And besides, she’s not a kid anymore. She’s 17, Maya. She understands this sort of thing.” Mia was silent for a while. “But all that aside, I think I might be able to help you. I heard Nick still has the old office he used to work at. You could go and visit him, Maya. I think it would do you good.”
Maya smiled. “I think that would be best. Thanks, sis.”
“You’re welcome. That’s about all the help I can give you for now. Goodbye, Maya, and good luck.” Mia’s spirit then left Pearl’s body. Pearl opened her eyes.
“Mystic Maya? Was I of any help?” asked Pearl.
“Yes, Pearly,” replied Maya, “Come on. Get ready to go to Nick’s office. I want to visit him.” Maya started to walk away, but then turned back to face Pearl. “Oh, and Pearly? Thanks.”
