Wanted to try something a little more serious and mature *cough* Focuses on Machi, who's won my heart through various fanarts and fics.

Blind
It was merely an act: he would pretend to be blind, and lead Lamiroir by the hand onto the stage. It was all for the name 'landscape painter in sound'. But Machi knew better. She didn't sing from her eyes, nor her ears. She sang from her heart. She sang for the things so special to her, and the people that she loved. For a while, Machi would have liked to think that he was her inspiration, what made her sing her heart out with that wonderful voice of hers. From a young age, he began to call her by a name much more meaningful than 'the siren of the ballad', or 'landscape painter in sound.' To him, she'd always be 'Mummy.'
They rehearsed every Thursday, simple duets between piano and voice (her voice was beautiful, much like the owner, and never ceased to amaze him) and after almost every session, she'd smile in a gentle way that always captivated him then look at him in the eye.
"I wish I could see your face, Machi." He wished she could see him too~ the boy that she'd so kindly raised since he was little. More than anything, he wanted her to look at him, and be proud.
Eye operations, however, were expensive. Machi would wince as he scanned through the prices.
£1800...£1580...£2500... A boy like him couldn't afford anything near that amount, and he knew this painful fact all too well. He wasn't rich, but he was sure as hell determined. All that the pianist knew was that he'd do anything to bring light back to Lamiroir's eyes. So when one of the guitarists in the Gavinners proposed to commit a dangerous and unforgivable crime for a large sum of money, Machi knew that he'd go along with it in the end. He knew it was wrong... yet he did it anyway. What didn't cross his mind was that if Lamiroir did ever open her eyes, she'd see not a son to be proud of, but a criminal to be despised.
When Lamiroir visited Machi in the detention centre, he didn't know whether to smile or cry. Yet the disappointment that Lamirior so obviously had faded as she told him all about her two real children in streams of fluent Borginese. A pang of jealousy struck Machi hard, and he felt tears welling in his eyes. He couldn't help himself from saying "Is it... is it because I have been bad? Do you not love me anymore?" Lamiroir stared for a moment, then let out a chuckle.
"Of course I still love you! All three of you are important to me!" And for once, Machi looked beyond the blind eyes, and saw the joy and love behind them.
That day, he realised that he'd been blind all along.
