Tried my hand at Fradrian. Implied P/E, one sided Adrian Celeste. Got the idea from the damned bear statue.
Don't eat me please D:
Some GS3 spoilers from 3-5 and mild 3-2, nothing terribly major in my opinion, if you don't know the rest of the case you won't understand them. But they're there nevertheless.
Edit: Fixed italics.

Switzerland had been cold. Really cold, like that sort of biting chill that made one wonder if they could even remember what being overheated felt like. In fact, it was the type of cold that made one think that a heat wave would be a delightful thing to encounter in comparison.

Adrian did not like the cold at all. Her lips were frozen into a frown as she huddled underneath her dark plaid fleece, unable to enjoy the sights of Bern while the weather was distracting her. If she had had her way, she would be back in the hotel snuggled under a quilt and reading a book.

But Celeste had wanted to go shopping, and as much as Adrian abhorred shopping – even more than the cold! – she wasn’t going to stay at the hotel alone. Her fears of loneliness overpowered even despise.

“Just one more store.” Celeste had said as she strolled down the street alongside her companion. “We’re almost back at the hotel, Adrian. There was just one more place I wanted to look at…”
Knowing Celeste, it would be some sort of high-end professional clothing store. All day Adrian had been watching her mentor try on various suits, jackets, and scarves while making up opinions about them to please Celeste’s badgering – how do I look? Truthfully, she had thought almost everything looked nice on the beautiful Celeste, but if Adrian hadn’t expressed disapproval every once in a while her mentor would have never believed her.

You’re sure you don’t want to try anything on? It wouldn’t hurt just to peek!
Adrian had resisted all of Celeste’s pleas, shaking her head and smiling. She wouldn’t look nearly as lovely as the other woman no matter what was picked out for her. Everything would fall too long on her short body, everything that was slim-fitting fitting ill on her chest. Brand names catered towards the shapely sort of woman spelled out disaster for her, but on Celeste! The gowns that would have hit Adrian’s ankles would stop elegantly around the woman’s calves, the waist molding to her form as if it had been made for her and only her.

Somehow, Adrian didn’t find herself jealous. She was only awed.
The pair passed several department stores as they made their way down the avenue, surrounded by chattering passerby. A good-looking boy with a pretty girl on his arm was not an uncommon sight; in fact it seemed that there was an infestation of happy couples out on that grim February afternoon. It made Adrian begin to want to look down at the ground, after a while. She was tired of all the blushing girls and romantic innocence.
But not jealous. I’m not jealous of them, not at all!

“Here.”
Adrian looked up at Celeste, then at the alcove they were standing under before blinking. “What? Here?”
They were standing in front of store marked Le Jouet in childish, cursive letters. Behind the large, rounded windows Adrian could see rows and rows of floppy dolls, metal trains, and wooden figurines. Nothing at all had a brand label as far as she could see, and no one in the shop, save the clerks, went unaccompanied without a minor rushing around and grabbing at everything in sight.
“A toy shop?” It was a far cry from the clothing boutique, this strange bazaar. “Why here?”
This is a side of you I haven’t seen before, Celeste.
“Those figurines in there. They caught my eye.” Celeste smiled sheepishly and pointed through the glass as she began to walk through the door. “See them? The bears?”
Suddenly the magic of standing outside a toyshop faded away and Adrian’s heart sank. Or not. Oh, Juan.

Celeste was always thinking of Juan even when he wasn’t around. Would Juan want this? Would Juan want her to wear that? Would Juan want her to think that? Adrian was pretty sure that Juan had no idea that his girlfriend was questioning him constantly inside her head.
“Well, I’ve got to get him something, Adrian!” Celeste laughed in her quiet way. “I mean, I’m spending an entire week without him on a business trip. He can’t be too happy about that, not having a manager to do his dirty work for him…”
Adrian wasn’t too happy herself, but she smirked for Celeste and wandered into the shop. If Celeste wanted it, well, she had to have a good reason. Besides, she owed her mentor.

“Look! Look at this, Adrian.” The woman had pulled a bear down from a shelf that Adrian probably wouldn’t have been able to reach. “It’s not just a figurine. It’s a puzzle!”
She was right. The small bear’s arms and legs began to fold as Celeste read from a small instruction booklet printed in French. “Place the tail in…”
The bear came apart, revealing its cavity. “Oh!”

Adrian had to admit it was clever and she took one of the pieces of leg, turning it over in her hands. It was well made and of good quality, even though it was just a toy. She would feel honored if Celeste ever purchased it for her as a present, and a little part of her imagined Juan wouldn’t quite feel that delight in the gift. “It’s wonderful. That’s so clever, Celeste! He’ll love it!”
Excited by her companion’s words, the mentor allowed herself to smile again and begin to reconstruct the bear. Her expression faded, however, when she noted the price sticker printed on the toy’s bottom.

“Oh…” She frowned, realizing exactly how much the numbers added up to in American dollars. Earlier Celeste had maxed out the only credit card she had brought along on the shopping escapade – to keep herself from going overboard, she said – and was now limited to the number of euro notes she kept in her purse.
Which, apparently, wasn’t enough.

Without a second thought or even a glance from Celeste, Adrian pulled her own wallet out of her back pocket and whipped out her credit card, seizing the bear and heading towards the register. It was all she could do for her mentor, after her mentor had done so much for her…
“Adrian…Adrian, are you sure?” Adrian did not look back at her and instead continued straight ahead, presenting the trinket to the clerk along with the card. It was only when the receipt began to print out from the machine did she turn back around, smiling faintly. “It’s no problem, Celeste. You’re right, Juan deserves a present.”
The clerk bagged the toy and handed it to her quietly and Adrian thanked her before pressing the package into Celeste’s hands. Her fingers touched her smooth, well-tended palms and she looked away to avoid blushing. Although she and Celeste were close, they didn’t often touch.

“Thank you, Adrian.” Celeste pocketed the package and offered her a smile as they walked back to the hotel in silence. The entire way, Adrian could not stop her heart from pounding as her mind threw back and forward what she had realized.
Her previous action had confirmed what she had almost always known.
I love you, Celeste.

Celeste had used her pretty, delicate voice to swear when the flower vase fell and emptied all over her bed. No matter how much she dabbed at it, the mattress was still soaked through.
“On a cold day like this, no less…” She had groaned, missing the warm comfort the pillow had provided only moments before. “It’s never going to dry before morning.”
It hadn’t taken much for Adrian to crawl out of her quilt with her book and gesture to her mattress, moving out. “Here, you can take mine.”
The offer came out of her mouth before she even knew what she was saying, and she automatically scolded herself for being too eager to please. Celeste pursed her lips and softened.

“Don’t be ridiculous, Adrian. Where will you sleep?” The woman had pulled her black hair down, letting it fall around her shoulders. Her body was now encased in her sleeping gown, while Adrian found herself in old sweats and a ratty college sweatshirt.
Adrian didn’t know how to respond, but Celeste smiled and lay next to her anyway. “It’s alright. We can share.”
The bed was big enough after all, and most women had sleepovers in the same bed, thinking nothing of it! It wasn’t a big deal, and yet Adrian was still speechless.
“Oh…alright…” She crawled back into the quilt, throwing some over her mentor. “If it doesn’t bother you.”
“Of course not.” Celeste smiled, rolling over. “We’re good enough friends by now, right Adrian?”
Friends. “I would suppose so, yes…”
“Good.” The other woman nodded and took some of the quilt, curling up in the corner of the mattress. Her eyes closed and her breathing slowly began to steady in a relaxed sort of way.

Celeste wasn’t sleeping, but merely resting. Adrian hoped that her mentor wouldn’t be able to sense how tense she was on the other side of the mattress. Trying the best she could, she buried her face in the pillow and pretended she was sleeping as well.
Hours crawled over her body and tore through her skin as the girl closed her eyes, pretending that she could not hear the shallow breathing next to her. She could not bear being this close to Celeste, unsuspecting, beautiful Celeste! It was a false hope that Adrian had within her that they could ever get any closer and she was never one to chase after unsupported dreams.

But now that she was lying there next to her…
Adrian’s skin bristled when she felt the quilt grow heavier on her back. She allowed herself a tentative peek, not moving at all.
Celeste’s arm had found itself on her back, resting just as peacefully as the girl herself. Casually she had reached out for Adrian, without any warning or any explanation.

An explosion went off in Adrian’s head, a delightful moment of confusion as she enjoyed the unexplained gesture. The hope she had quelled suddenly erupted for a split second before reality shoved it back downwards.
She must think I’m Juan. It made sense, Celeste being used to lying next to someone close to her. Celeste was hardly conscious. Adrian was a breathing body.
Oh. She was disappointed severely for no longer than she had been excited. Silently, she faced back down into the pillow before tilting her head to look back at Celeste.

She looked too serene, as if she would never imagine that Adrian was hoodwinking her. It was difficult for her to resist the pretty creature, and slowly Adrian extended an arm out, touching her cheek. In her sleep, Celeste smiled and leaned into her further as Adrian blushed in the dark.
More hours went by as Adrian held the girl close to her, trying not to move. She couldn’t afford to ruin the moment; if Celeste even managed to get a glimpse of who she was actually leaning against…
The clock on the small table read 6:44. In fifteen minutes the alarm would go off with a beep, arising the angel from the sin she didn’t know she was committing. She would look the devil in the eye, realize Adrian wasn’t Juan, and never again Adrian would hear her refer to her as a friend if she didn’t do something now.

She can’t wake up…she’ll think…
She couldn’t only imagine Celeste’s features contorting in shock, her tender voice shrieking as she pulled away. What...what did you do to me?She would think Adrian had…
The manager removed herself from under her mentor, doing her best to maneuver in such a fashion that Celeste wouldn’t bat an eyelid. By 6:52 the feat had been accomplished, and when the beeping finally snapped apart the silence at the hour, Adrian was long gone from the bed.
“Ugh…” Celeste groaned from the bed, rolling over and hitting the alarm. She sat up after a moment. Adrian watched her from the mirror in the bathroom, pretending to be brushing her teeth with great concentration. The girl stretched, yawned, and pulled herself out of the bed. The nightgown had been shoved up to her legs under the covers, causing Adrian to brush her teeth with even more intensity.
“Morning.” She stumbled out of bed and into the closet. Adrian murmured a greeting, rinsed, and closed the door under the pretense of showering. She couldn’t look the girl in the eye without turning red. Now wasn’t the time.
Celeste…you’ll never know. It was better this way.

“And she committed suicide three months after that?”
Adrian buried her head in her hands. When the prosecutor had promised that Adrian could talk to her about anything, she probably hadn’t been bargaining for the escapades of her unorthodox romances.

She nodded, folding up her knees. Franziska folded her hands and reclined, thinking. Throughout most of Adrian’s tale, she had merely nodded and listened. Only now was she beginning to console.
“…How did you know she thought you were Juan?” She responded, folding her fingers underneath her chin. “Maybe she knew exactly who you were.”

Adrian was melancholy, wanting to believe her. “You didn’t see her with Juan. If you did, you would understand. They were perfect together.”
Perfect. That was something Franziska could understand. She nodded her head as the girl across from her lifted her head and skirted across the subject.

“But like I said! I’m better now. I’ve come to terms with everything!” The young blonde woman sat up and adjusted her glasses, offering her a smile. “I’ve got that job at Lordly Tailor now, and since the Treasures of Kurain exhibit was such a great success we’ve been doing all sorts of business…”
She had already gone into this, she remembered. Closing her mouth, Adrian shuffled about in her seat and leaned back a bit.

“How are you, Franziska? It’s nice to see that you’ve moved back to Los Angeles…”
The prosecutor smirked solemnly and shook her head. “I never had any intentions to, mind you. But my little brother’s proven once again he requires baby-sitting…”
Franziska had been irate when the chance to destroy her brother publicly slipped out of her fingers. Her head had been filled with plans of revenge, armed with snappy one-liners she could use to mock him with, her thoughts fabricating secrets she could use to humiliate him – and then the earthquake had struck.
The second she had felt the ground tremble beneath her, Edgeworth’s name had been her very first thought. For a second she felt pleasure that he would be suffering.
But the cruel elation had died away quickly. An unknown feeling of – this couldn’t be worry, could it? – had overtaken her, and her concern had not been for the escaped prisoner when she found him shaking in the Inner Temple. Even though he had been good at pretending to be a defense lawyer, he couldn’t even stand during an earthquake.

Franziska had gone apartment shopping the moment the trial was over. Someone had to be around to keep an eye on him. He couldn’t just go falling off a chair and making an even bigger fool of the Von Karma name every time the earth’s plates shifted.

Adrian smiled gently at the mention of his name. “He’s a good man. Your little brother, I mean.” She wasn’t clueless enough to know that Edgeworth was actually a handful of years Franziska’s senior. But if Franziska wanted to see herself as the older one, it didn’t bother her. “He helped me so much with that trial. I owe him and Mr. Wright so much…”

The girl look up at her darkly, shoving her thin blue hair out of her eyes. “Let’s not talk about Mr. Wright. My brother already can’t shut up about him…”
Oh, right. Adrian had heard rumors about them. Now that she thought about it, she could see Franziska being incredibly protective of her brother, the guardian to his naivety. Poor Mr. Wright.
“Hmph. He’s bad at hiding it…” Franziska sighed, but shook her head.
“Are you jealous?” Adrian recoiled when the woman shot a piercing glare towards her.
“Of losing all of my focus to associate myself with some imbecile? To waste all my time being smashed against another person and stuttering awkwardly? To grin like an idiot every time I touch their hand?” She crossed her arms and looked down. “Of course not. Of course not!”

Adrian stared at her and Franziska stood up. “I think I have a case I need to get ready for. Sorry to cut you off like…”
The girl had stood up next to her, shoving the table out of the way. Franziska stopped when she felt the arms around her and sighed. She had been afraid of this from the moment Adrian had stepped into the room.
“Adrian…” So she had been hoping this would happen, sort of. Why else had she invited Adrian to come over whenever she wanted? Why else had she given out her address?

“I know. You don’t like relationships. They take up your time.” She smiled sadly into her back. “But…”
Franziska didn’t say anything. Instead, she took the older girl’s hand and sighed. “You’re all so wistful. You Americans are all fools, thinking you need your companionship. It’s all a waste of time.”
Adrian backed away from her, pressed her glasses back up against her nose, and sighed. It hadn’t been worth a try, and now Franziska would never even want to look at her again! This was what she had tried to avoid with Celeste, and now she had ruined yet another one of her few friendships…

“I have a case tomorrow. I need to work on it.” She scowled, heading out of the room and leaving Adrian with the door out. As Adrian sighed and started for the exit, Franziska peered her head back out of the hall.
“Tomorrow. Come back around the same time.”
The blonde frowned and raised an eyebrow. The prosecutor shrugged her shoulders and started back inside. “We never got to our whipping lessons.”

She vanished into the hallway, leaving the manager to show herself out. As she left the apartment, Adrian felt herself smile into the cold.
So some risks…are meant to be taken, after all.

I like it. A good story line, switching from the past to the present. I also liked seeing Celeste-I rarely ever see her in any story, so it was nice to finally..."meet" her, I guess you could say. The meeting with Franziska was interesting as well-too bad they didn't get to their whipping lessons. Ah well. I do hope to see more of this...10/10.

I really liked that. Beautifully characterised and I can't fault it, really :)

Thank you guys! :D

Super Muffin: I'll have to do the whipping lessons at some point...their relationship in my head progresses. It didn't seem very Fran to just jump into something. I wasn't quite sure how to do Celeste, but I sort of thought her to be really chic. But thank you :D

KingMobUK: ...but I like faults D: Thank you. I was worried I didn't get Fran or Celeste down right.

I only skimmed it (short on time) and can't write an in-depth response right now... but I quite liked it. Adrian was perfectly written as were Celeste and Friska. Really well done--and I'll give a more thought-out response later!

Seriously, I really enjoyed that. I've always wanted to see more of Celeste. I find the characterization to be right on, and the plot is very good as well.

xD I'd like to see them and their whipping lessons. :godot:

:D I'm so glad everyone likes it. ^_^ I'll have to do the whipping lessons, now that I've gotten so many requests (so many being two. but still.) And I'm liking writing Celeste a LOT. She's becoming one of my favorites. I wish she was in the story more.

Cuuuute. I think you really captured Adrian's personality well, in that she's very cautious, and doubts herself a lot. Franziska was good too, and the way you worked in the the experiences of both characters during the third game. No matter how lame you think it is. XD So yeah, I like it anywho. ^^
It's far from over, and you're far from alone.
