Desc: Set just after AJ, a story about a girl who has troubles with her home life.

CHAPTER ONE
"Argh! It's too hard!" Trucy put her head on the desk, idly doodling magic hats on the corner of her jotter.
"Um, excuse me···"
Trucy, with incredible effort, turned her head to fix a weary eye on the speaker - a girl - and raised an eyebrow in question, apparently unable to do any more than that.
"The answer is x = -4···"
"What?"
Lifting herself onto her forearms, Trucy took a closer look at her neighbour. She was a small girl, with mousy brown hair that rested on her shoulders, and deep green eyes.
"...The question you're stuck at..."
Ah. Trucy shifted her gaze to the equation that had bested her. There were many rubbings out, smudges, and doodles - the whole page was utterly incomprehensible. Trucy fixed the girl with a look of wonderment on her face.
"And you managed to do this? It's really difficult!"
"Not really. It's quite easy if you start off right - you haven't squared the brackets properly, see?"
"QUIET IN THE BACK!" the teacher yelled, disturbing the hushed classroom. The girl looked absolutely mortified, and continued working, while Trucy just smiled and said, "Sorry sir. Got carried away."
To this he mumbled something incoherent to the effect of 'Youths these days...' or something like that.
Less than 10 seconds passed before Trucy turned to the girl again.
"So what's your name?"
The girl looked shocked, not at the question, but at Trucy's brazenness. She glanced at the teacher, making sure he wasn't listening, and whispered a single word:
"...Maria."
