Sorry for the delay... It was late in Finland when I made this topic and my brother unplugged the hub before
going to sleep thus cutting my connection to the net and that's why I couldn't put this up at that time...

But here it is... partially rewritten Chapter I, and in my own opinion what an intro!

Chaotic Turnabout Part I: Awakening Legacy

I: In the rise of the red moon

June 2nd, Sunday in 2019, Franziska von Karma's apartment, 11:55PM

It was a warm summer night, prosecutor Franziska von Karma was standing on the balcony of her apartment star gazing. She looked to the sky where full moon was looming over the city and her gaze was almost like guided towards it.

“It is just a full moon, nothing special!” She said to herself “... But why it is red? There shouldn't be lunar eclipses at this time... It is almost glowing...” Franziska felt cold shivers “And why looking at it is giving me the creeps?” She asked herself. “This makes no sense... absolutely stupid!”

Franziska's eyes wondered in the stars but again her gaze traveled back to the moon. “What is so special... with...!” Something appeared on the moon for a short while and as soon as it appeared it vanished. She startled. “What... the heck was that... Did I just see... some kind of a structure in front of the moon?” She wondered. “Impossible... it must have been a cloud passing over creating an illusion that something was there...”

The Moon had changed... it had taken an even brighter shade of red. It casted reddish light on the city.

“Err... No way that is possible... There is no way that moon can shine that bright during eclipse!”

(... It is not an eclipse)” She thought. “... Not an eclipse... Fool! Of course it isn't when moon is that bright.” She said. “(It is a sign...)” She thought. “Huh?... A sign? ... Did I think something like that?” Franziska said. “Blood red moon can't be a normal phenomenon... Did I just... say a blood red?” Franziska's heart started to pick up in pace. “Calm down fool, calm down... It's nothing.”

Franziska was tapping her fingers on the rail and here legs were quite restless.
“Nothing?... Then why I'm feeling so Goddamn nervous about it?!” She yelled. “... Did I just... swear?” “(Because... you have a Goddamn good reason to be nervous!)” “Where did that come from?... Okay then what would good reason be? “(...Beware a vampire is on the move...)

Her eyes snapped wide open. “... What?.. A vampire?! What am I thinking about? Vampires are fictional! They don't exist... or do they?” She slapped herself. “Stupid fool... Von Karma doesn't think about stupid mythical creatures which have no place except in some foolishly foolish fools foolish folklores!... Just where that thought got into my head?!” She turned facing the moon. “You fool moon, you get me to think totally stupid things!” “(Your instincts and senses are at work, nothing more.)” “Stop thinking stupid things you fool!” “(It is... the truth.)

Franziska was silent for a while... squeezed her fist and closed her eyes trying to calm down. Suddenly her eyes snapped open. “There is someone here!” She said and seemed to notice some movement in the corner of her eye and quickly snatched her whip into her hand.

(Wait a minute... why I'm reacting like this?)” She thought “(You are acting by your instincts..)” “(What instincts?!)

In the left side of balcony's rail something dark was sitting silently. It was a black thing with long ears which seemed to look at Franziska with interest.

“A Bat?... What it's doing here?” She wondered.

Bat's nose was sniffing the air and it looked Franziska into her eyes. She felt cold shivers once again.

“Are you here trying to mess up my thoughts too?!... Take that you... bathead and don't come back!!” Franziska yelled and raised her hand over her head and proceeded with downward strike aiming directly towards the bat and the lash it into it's belly.

“Ouch!” The bat screeched and fell down.

“...Ouch!?... Bats doesn't sound like that!" Franziska said. “(... That was a very precise hit... What did I say? A bathead, what kind of insult is that?)

Moments later the bat rose again to the level of the balcony and circled above her head a few times.

“Stupid thing... Go away or I whip you again you foolish leather winged thing!”

Bat turned to watch her in the air and Franziska could swear that a smile was appearing on it's face. After that it turned around and disappeared into the night.

Franziska felt wind breeze and heard something in her ears.

“Yes, I have found you at last...”

“!!... What was that?" She wondered scared. “I found you... did someone say something? Who or... what found me?..”

“I better go to sleep, it will pass... Calm down Franziska, everything is alright." She tried to calm herself and left the balcony to go to sleep.

June 3rd, Monday, Gourde Lake 12:15 AM

“This is an excellent chance to try out mah new camera... Takin' nighttime shots will be easy with this thing!” Said a woman with big hair and camera around her neck.” It was Lotta Hart a freelance photographer who had been involved with several cases in the past.

“But what is up with the moon? It's crazy I tell ya!... It's like burnin' an' hell... It's givin' me creepers!” Lotta said.

She was walking around the woods trying to find something to shoot. When she saw something on the field.

“Hey there's someone over there.” She said and came closer. She looked through the camera's lens.

“Heyy... It's Larry Butz... the picture book artist... I wonder what he is doing here?” She wondered and the saw Larry's hands making movements on a canvas.

“Ah... He is painting something... probably a scenery from the lake.”

“Hey... no no no! This won't do... The moon is all wrong shade!...” He heard Larry yelling.

“But... wasn't the moon dimmer a while ago?” He wondered scratching his head . “No no no... I have to fix it.” Larry said and took some paint and began painting moon all over again.

“Artist at work.” Lotta grinned and pressed the button taking a picture.

Suddenly a figure wearing purple dress and a hood over it's head walked behind Larry. It stopped about a meter away from him.

“What's this... A girl?... This is getting interesting.” Lotta said and waited camera at ready. She took a shot.

Larry seemingly hadn't noticed girl's appearance.

“Pretty impressive... You have captured the essence of the red moon rather well... Larry.” The girl said her arms crossed..

Lotta saw that Larry was startled. He turned around to look at the arrival.

“Whoa! Wowcha!” Larry exclaimed.

“I guess the girl is a looker.” Lotta wondered.

Larry hastily stood up.

“Err... Sorry I didn't see you come here babe... You surprised me.” Larry said a bit nervously.

“Not at all.” She replied with a sweet voice.

“Eh... what is beauty like you doing out here at a time like this...?” Larry said and took a look at his watch “Damn... it is over midnight... Oh well... I just complete this and then I have to go...”

Girl lowered her hood revealing a flowing red hair and pale face. “You are not in a hurry anywhere are you?” She asked.

“Err... I really should go as my girl would get worried and...” Larry stammered.

“ARE YOU?!” She raised her volume.

“Huh... what the?” Lotta wondered..

“I err... really should...” Larry protested and then his voice changed “No... I... am... not... in ... a hurry... anywhere... milady.”

She grinned. “Good, but first lets finish this painting... come here my servant.”

“Your wish is my duty milady.” Larry said with a weird voice and approached the girl.

“Huh?... Did she just hypnotize him... or something? That's incredible!” Lotta whispered. Camera clicked again.

“The moon needs a proper color, and we get that color... from... you!” The girl opened her mouth revealing two very prominent fangs she took hold of Larry, bent his head and bit him to the neck. “Ouch!” Larry shouted.

“... W-w-w-what... This ain't happenin'!” Lotta whispered shaking. “Pale face... and fangs... A.. v-v-v-vampire!”

“Mmm... Now you are mine Larry Butz...” The girl said wiping her mouth. “Now we finish this master piece... Come on take your brush and give the red moon a proper shade with your own blood!”

“Yes milady... I will do as you say...” Larry said in a trance and proceeded to paint. Lotta's camera had clicked several times during the incident.

“Ok... I have seen enough... I better leave while I still can!” She thought shaking.
She started a retreat when she heard a voice.

“Is someone there?” The girl asked “Come out so I can see you!” She said sweetly.

“No way in hell!” Lotta whispered and continued her retreat.

“We can play this game of cat and mouse if you like... But I assure you in the end cat always has her mouse.” She said.

“I ain't be donatin' a drop of blood today.” Lotta whispered and retreated as fast as possible.

Soon she spotted her car.

“Just a little bit further and I'm safe.” Lotta said and was about to reach her car when she heard a cough behind her back.

She whirled around and saw for her horror the girl from before.

“Aah!” She screamed.

“Ha ha ha... I told you in the end I would catch you.” Vampire was glaring at Lotta like a wild animal and was licking her teeth.

“H-how did you...?!” Lotta asked horrified.

“Didn't you notice the bat passing over you?.. I guess you didn't.” She pouted. “Too bad for you!” She said pointing her finger at shaking Lotta.

Lotta was shaking in terror. She couldn't do anything. “(This is my end!... Now I'm gonna die!)

“Actually I have already dined today but... an extra doesn't hurt.” She said menacingly baring her fangs.

“S-s-stay away from me!” Lotta screamed.

“Oh yes... fear me human!” Vampire said. “As soon I will feast on your blood!”

Just then all of a sudden without any warning a series of three fireballs hit to the vampire's side. She screamed and whirled around towards the direction where the attack came from.

Lotta was still paralyzed from fear.

Man with flowing black hair appeared from the woods with sword in hand.

“Back off vampire!” He shouted. “Now!” He pointed his sword towards the girl.

Vampire was obviously trying to decide what to do. She glared at Lotta and even more at the man.

“Very well...” Vampire said and retreated. “But YOU are not going to catch me!” She yelled and transformed into a bat rising to the sky.

Lotta felt like her heart would jump out of her throat.

“It is all right, you are safe.” The man said with a calm tone and sheathed his sword. “Are you all right miss?”

“Y-yeah I reckon so... Thanks for the rescue I guess...” Lotta said. “(Damn, he's good lookin'.)” “I'm Lotta Hart... a freelance photographer.”

“What were you doing out here at this time Ms. Hart?” Man asked.

“Huh?... you gonna interrogate me Mister?!” Lotta asked suspiciously glaring at the man.

“No.. no.. I'm just curious...” Man replied.

“Well what I can call you for starters?” Lotta asked.

“I'm known as Arikado, Ms. Hart.” Arikado replied.

“Well... Mr. Arikado, I was simply practicin' nighttime photography and ended up practicin' survival skills against a real vampire... Those things exist!” Lotta explained.

“Yes they do. They are unfortunately very real... You should leave this place before she decides to come back.” Arikado said.

“Yeah that's a good idea... Wait are you some sort of a vampire hunter?” Lotta asked curiously.

“Not exactly... But pretty close.” Arikado replied.

Lotta entered her car put the key in place, turned it and started the engine. “Thanks again for the rescue Mr. Arikado!” Lotta yelled.

“It is my duty after all... Have a safe trip Ms. Hart.” Arikado said.

“I reckon I have start being more careful at nights.” Lotta said. “Wait... do you need a lift, I think I should repay this somehow?”

“I'd appreciate it if you could take me to Gatewater Hotel, the new one.” Arikado said.

“Oh yeah... that one. No problem I know the place an' it's on the way to mah own place anyway, hop in.” Lotta said. Black suited man sat on passenger seat next to Lotta.

“Buckle up and let's go!” She said and pressed the pedal.

Maya Fey's apartment 1:05 AM

Maya Fey, Phoenix Wright's assistant had been also been doing her own star gazing.
“I have a bad feeling... Moon shouldn't be that bright... it's... unnatural... almost threatening.” She said. All of a sudden red shine dimmed to the normal darker hue. “What was that about? Weird things are happening tonight...” Maya said and watched at the time. “ACK! I should be sleeping already, Nick might need me later at day.” She said and went to her bed room and jumped under the covers.

The dream and this time completed... This is the first part.

Several changes were made... Maya and Phoenix are also in picture now as wondering what is going on.

II: The trial of dreams: The Prelude

Franziska was dreaming, suddenly she saw a flash of light and she appeared to a place she knew well. It was the courthouse.

Date: Unknown, District Court, Defense Lobby

Franziska started to look around. “(This looks like...a defense lobby?)

“There you are Franziska, I guess you went ahead us...” She heard a familiar voice behind her back. She turned around and saw Phoenix Wright walking towards her with Maya Fey, her cousin Pearl Fey and a man with long black hair.

“(What? Franziska?!)” Phoenix thought.

“(Phoenix Wright?! Maya Fey, Pearl Fey... and... who is that?)” Franziska thought.

“(There's Nick and Pearly... and I don't know that man... Do I know that woman... Nick called her... Franziska?)” Maya thought.

“(What is going on here...? There is Maya and Pearls... and who is this man with us?)” Phoenix thought. “(And that blond woman... Her name is Franziska.)

“Of course Nick, this is an important trial. Which we mustn't lose!” Franziska replied. “(W-what did I just say?!)

(We have a trial?)” Phoenix thought.

(Is... she working with Nick?)” Maya thought.

“There's no way you are going to lose Franny-Annie... we prepared so well.” Maya said grinning. “(Franny-Annie... Is it her nickname?... I like it.)

(Franny-Annie?! What is going on?)” Franziska thought... it seems like she was in this body but couldn't affect its actions.

“You win this case Ms. Franziska. I'm sure of it.” Pearl said with encouragement.

(Wait a minute... I am a defense attorney?!)” Now Franziska was very surprised.

“I trust my fate into your hands... Phoenix, Franziska.” Man said.

(He knows us, should we know him?)” Phoenix thought. “Don't worry Mr. Arikado... this will be over shortly.” He said confidently. “(Mr. Arikado?... So that is his name.)

(Arikado... This is the client?)” Franziska thought.

(... Arikado? As in Genya Arikado?!)” Maya thought.

“Don't worry Uncle Al... prosecution won't be reaping any Goddamn verdicts today!” Franziska said smugly. “(There we go again... swearing like that... the same I did... Uncle Al... so he is family?)”

(Uncle Al... are they related?)” Phoenix thought.

(Uncle Al... Alucard?!... No can't be!)” Maya thought.

“How do I look?” Franziska asked smiling.

“Good enough to defeat the Prosecutor of Death.” Phoenix grinned. “(No objections to that... But she reminds me from Franziska von Karma for some reason...)” Phoenix thought.

(She's pretty... And she looks somewhat like Franziska who I know.)” Maya thought. “Although you can confirm it yourself by looking at mirror.” Maya said and handed Franziska a hand mirror.

She took a look a it. “(What is this?... Her face... it is very much like myself but the hair is almost golden and combed back... Not to mention it's longer than mine... Who am I?!... No... who is this?)” Franziska thought.

She looked at herself. Franziska was wearing a cream brown button blouse with a flower pattern knitted to chest. She wasn't wearing any gloves and she also had a dark blue miniskirt and white boots. “(She is... even prettier than me...)” Franziska thought.

“Oh... your parents told me to give you these.” Arikado said and handed Phoenix a sword who promptly sheathed it under his suit.

(... Eh! A Sword... to me?!)” Phoenix thought.

“Mr. Nick aren't you ripping your suit with it?” Pearl asked with a worried tone.

“Heh, don't worry Pearls, I have a holster under the suit.” Phoenix replied.

(Phoenix Wright and... a sword... Now I don't get it...)” Franziska thought.

(Nick and a sword?... And he has never taken any lessons in swordplay... Weird combination.)” Maya thought.

Item which Arikado gave to Franziska was a whip: It was thick and had a metallic cigar like tip about 15cm long with some round nubs and some spiky nubs.

(Ouch... that is going to hurt!... Does she use whips too?! That looks much more dangerous than the one which Von Karma uses!)” Phoenix thought.

Franziska promptly took the whip and looked at it.. “(W-w-what?! I mean, wow but... That thing really hurts!... As in you could kill with it!)” She thought mesmerized. Franziska attached the whip to the holster which was in her belt.

(That thing is deadly!... Wait! That thing reminds of... Vampire hunters! They use whips similar to that!)” Maya thought. “(Of course! Belmont's and their descendants use whips!)

“Huh... but wasn't this trial supposed to proceed without problems?” Franziska asked.
(What kind of problems?)

(Has to be pretty big as I was given a sword!)” Phoenix thought.

(What kind of problems would require weapons in the courtroom?)” Maya thought.

“According to Bernard, this is just in case.” Arikado replied.

(Bernard?... Who is he?)” Franziska thought.

(Bernard... who?)” Phoenix thought.

(Who is that?)” Maya thought.

“Heh... Well I guess your father isn't taking any chances... Not that I can blame him.” Phoenix said and laughed. “(So he is Franziska's father.)

(Bernard... Father?... My father is... No... HER father, not mine.)” Franziska thought.

(Oh... it is her father.)” Maya thought.

“We are going to the audience... See you later Mr. Nick, Ms. Franziska.” Pearl said.

(We are?)” Maya thought.

“We keep our thumbs up.” Maya said and the two left the defense lobby. “(I guess we are going then.)
(She is Franziska too... that much I know.)” Franziska thought.

“Mr. Arikado and his defense... please step into the courtroom the trial will begin shortly.” Bailiff said.

“All right, here we go.” Phoenix said. “Ladies first... as you are the primary defense today and I'm the assistant.”

(... Eh? Really?)” Phoenix thought.

(I wonder how this goes...)” Franziska thought and stepped through the door, Phoenix behind her and finally the defendant, mysterious Mr. Arikado. Who this Franziska called Uncle Al.

Date: Unknown, District Court, Courtroom n.13, Time: Unknown

(Courtroom 13... I didn't even know there were that many...)” Franziska thought. “(I'm pretty sure that there are not that many courtrooms!)

(That is way too large number for a courtroom.)” Phoenix thought.

People were still coming in, judge's chair was empty and likewise prosecution's table as well.

“It seems we are well in time... Better take our places.” Phoenix said and walked to the defense's table Franziska following him. “(Oh... we are first ones.)

“Why is the prosecutor called Prosecutor of Death?” She asked suddenly.

(I'd like to know that myself.)” Phoenix thought.

“Err... Don't you remember?” Phoenix asked. “(Should I know that?)

“You could refresh my memory.” Franziska said sweetly. “(OK... Do they have something going on between them?)

(Huh... what is going on... are we... close?)” Phoenix thought.

“All right, here goes... Graham 'Death' Reaper... Is called with that name because of two reason's. One: Some could mistake him for a grim reaper as he is always wearing black or at least dark clothes, that black robe of his and especially the scythe he carries everywhere he goes. Two: this reason is actually more serious ...Every single person who he has gotten a guilty verdict has died in a way or another...” Phoenix explained. “(Erk!... Sounds pretty bad... no, very bad!)

(... That sounds bad even to me...)” Franziska thought. “You mean... that even those who aren't guilty for murder's like shoplifter's or thieves or smaller criminals?” She asked.

“Unfortunately, yes.” Phoenix replied seriously. “(... The man is a living death sentence!)

“We really can't afford to lose this case then.” Franziska said and swallowed, she was a little nervous. “(This is a very serious matter...)

“Don't worry... We will get Alucard out of this.” Phoenix said and took Franziska's hand into his. “(Alucard... why did I call Mr. Arikado like that... is it his first name?)

(...Alucard... Why does Phoenix calls Mr. Arikado like that?)” Franziska thought. When she looked at their hands she saw identical rings on the pairs fingers. “(So they are engaged even!... Phoenix Wright and this Franziska... and I'm still to find out her family name!)” She thought. “(Alucard Arikado... Is it his name?)

(What?... are we a couple?... Not only that... but engaged too?! But what is her surname?)” Phoenix thought.

Just then murmur in the crowd escalated when a man with beard stepped in... soon followed by a man wearing dark robe a, there was a sound of something hitting the floor on every step he took. It was the hilt of prosecutor's scythe hitting the floor.

(So... that is the prosecutor... Graham Reaper.)” Franziska thought.

(That scythe looks dangerous...)” Phoenix thought.

Bearded man walked behind the tallest table. It was the judge.

“Ah... Defense is well on schedule today.” Judge said when he noticed that the defense was already present.

(Thank you Your Honor.)” Phoenix thought.

“If it helps the defendant remains to be seen.” Prosecutor said with a gritty voice and glared at the people standing on behind table opposite to him. He stepped behind the table and put this scythe to side. Graham Reaper was a bald man with an aged face.

“I should have guessed that he is an old fart.” Franziska whispered to Phoenix.
(... Aren't we friendly?)

Phoenix simply nodded. “(It is good that she didn't say it out loud.)

“Alright now... Which one of you is the defense at this time?” Judge asked.

“Fran... Ms. Schneider will be Mr. Arikado's defense Your Honor, I'll be acting as her assistant.” Phoenix replied. “(Franziska Schneider?)

(Franziska Schneider... hmm.)” Maya thought.

(Franziska Schneider?... So that is who I... she is!)” Franziska thought.

“Very well... Order in the court!” Judge said banging the gavel the crowd quieted down. “We will begin the trial of Mr. Genya Arikado. Are each of you ready?”

Franziska noticed a message in the flat monitor on the table. Message said. “Court Record updated... touch the screen for details.” Franziska did just that and read the information.

Initializing Court Record information for Case VK-13, Codename: Turnabout Impaler.

(Impaler... whoa!)” Phoenix thought.

(... What a name.)” Franziska thought.

Date: June 3rd Monday in 2019, 9:30 AM

(It is present?!)” Phoenix thought.

“[coloe=blue](So it's... today?!)” Franziska thought.

Defense Attorney: Franziska Annabell Schneider.

(Annabell... her second name is that where Franny-Annie comes from?)” Franziska thought.

(... Franny-Annie... so that's it.)” Phoenix thought.

Gender: Female
Workplace: Wright & Schneider Law Offices

(Wright & Schneider Law Offices?... It seems we are partners!)” Phoenix thought.

(... Wright & Schneider... They are partners!)” Franziska thought.

Age: 20

(Wasn't Von Karma also 20 now?)” Phoenix thought.

(We are even the same age!)” Franziska thought.

Defense Aide: Phoenix Wright
Gender: Male
Workplace: Wright & Schneider Law Offices
Age: 27

Prosecution: Graham Reaper
Gender: Male
Workplace: General Prosecutors Office
Age: 44

(Doesn't ring any bells...)” Phoenix thought.

(... Who is he anyway?)” Franziska thought.

Defendant: Genya Arikado
Charge: Murder
Gender: Male
Occupation: President of Bat Company Industries
Age: 35

Is accused from murder.

(Should have guessed... He is dressed well.)” Phoenix thought.

(He acts quite humbly despite being a top dog in company...)” Franziska thought.

Witness Data: stand by
Evidence Data: stand by

(Who is the victim?)” Phoenix thought.

(Nothing available yet I see... Where's the victim?!)” Franziska thought.

After checking the information Franziska raised her eyes towards the judge.
“Defense has been on stand by for some time already Your Honor.” Franziska replied. “(Genya Arikado?... Then why did Phoenix call him Alucard?)

(So it is Genya Arikado... why the name Alucard?)” Phoenix thought.

“Prosecution is sufficiently prepared.” Reaper replied. Slamming the hilt of his scythe to the floor.

“Then we can begin... Mr. Reaper your opening statement if you please.” Judge said.
Reaper bowed his head respectfully and said. “With pleasure Your Honor...” After this the prosecutor picked up his large scythe on the floor and started spinning it in his hand like a professional. “The prosecution will today prove that... THIS MAN!” He shouted and suddenly stopped spinning the scythe and pointed it towards Arikado. “This man is responsible for two crimes... one is for assisting in murder... and another the more serious one which we are handling today... A murder!” Evil smile rose to Reaper's face. “This man, Mr. Genya Arikado has murdered his own father... Mr. Vladimir Tepes!”

Crowd started to murmur.

(... He is rather theatrical.)” Franziska thought.

(Wait a minute... No way! I know what is going on here!)” Maya thought.

“That thing is a most dangerous thing that has even been in a court room.” Phoenix whispered. “(For once we agree.)

“Yeah... It is good that he knows how to use it.” Franziska whispered. “(I agree with that too.)

“Order in the court!” Judge yelled and banged the gavel. Crowd quieted down again. “When did this tragedy happened?”

“It was a long time ago... in the year 1797...” Reaper replied sighing.

(What?! That is insane!... over couple hundred years ago! )” Franziska thought.

(This case is way over expired!)” Phoenix thought.

Objection ” Franziska yelled. “The case has greatly surpassed it's expiration date as this happened 222 years ago!” She yelled slamming her fist to the table.

Objection ” Reaper shouted, spun the scythe in his hand and and suddenly stopped, pointing it to Franziska keeping the blade couple centimeters above her head. Franziska startled. “(THAT MAN IS CRAZY!)

(Yep... The Prosecutor of Death!)” Phoenix thought.

(That prosecutor Reaper is quite scary...)” Maya thought.

Some women in the crowd screamed.

“The case is old yes... but it can still be handled.” Reaper replied calmly.

“From raging to calm in an instant... We better we careful with this prosecutor.” Phoenix whispered. “(We are thinking the same way.)

Franziska nodded in reply. “(His intimidation tactics are... quite... effective.)

“What... over 200 year old case?” “And the black haired man was a murderer?” “How is that possible?” Was heard from the crowd.

(What?! Absolutely foolish!)” Franziska thought. “Your Honor? Is this true?”

(This can't be serious)” Phoenix thought.

“Yes Ms. Schneider, this trial can resume... as according to prosecution there is something different in Mr. Arikado's person.” Judge replied.

“He is really going through this?” Phoenix wondered shaking his head.

“Mr. Reaper would you please tell us what is different in Mr. Arikado?” Judge asked.

Reaper nodded and began explaining. “Of course... Crowd already wondered how we could be handling a case as old as this and especially how Mr. Arikado could be around at that time.” He took a breath and continued. “He was around then but with a different name... Back then he was known as Adrian Tepes, also known as... Alucard.“

(YES! This so cool!... No! More than cool, way above cool!)” Maya thought.

(What... so that is where Alucard comes from... Adrian Tepes?... Hmm... I wonder what this is all about... if he was around at that time... There is no way that a human can live several hundred years old... No! This is foolish!)” Franziska thought. “(Then why... it makes sense!?)

(In that case he would be several hundred years old... And there is no way that is possible!)” Phoenix thought. “(So that's why I called him Alucard...)

“So he has changed his name?... But still it would make him several hundred years old!” Judge said shocked.

“Exactly... Mr. Genya Arikado is not completely human.” Reaper made a dramatic pause. “He is a dhampir... or half-vampire. Hybrid offspring of a human and a vampire!” He snarled pointing scythe at the man in question.

(I knew that already.)" Maya thought.

Crowd began talking loudly.

(W-w-what the... Hell?!)” Franziska thought she definitely wasn't expecting this.

(A Half... vampire?!)” Phoenix thought.

“Order in the court!” Judge yelled and banged the gavel and the crowd settled down for a bit. “Mr. Arikado... Is what Mr. Reaper is stating... true?” He asked seriously.

Arikado looked at Franziska who simply shrugged. “(I guess she was asking how to proceed... and that answer was 'it is up to you'.)

“I guess we can't get away with this...” She whispered. “(That would be tricky.)

“There's no way we can avoid it.” Phoenix whispered back. “(This might be important for the case.)

Arikado sighed and replied. “... Your Honor, Mr. Reaper is absolutely right. I indeed am a dhampir... But I'm a friend to humans. I'm not a heartless blood sucker who hunts mortals like full vampires do!”

(... That is a good thing...)” Franziska thought.

(I knew that too!)” Maya thought.

(He wasn't a bad guy before... He isn't it now.)” Phoenix thought.

“Then I think your age is stated wrong in the record.” Judge said strangely calm.. “I think in this case you are older than 35 years old... Mr. Arikado.”

(How the judge can be so calm?!)” Franziska thought.

(Judge seems to very relaxed regardless what is going on.)” Phoenix thought.

“Yes... I don't remember how old I am exactly... but it is somewhat over 600 years.” Arikado replied.

Bit later Franziska noticed a message in the flat monitor on the table. Court Record had been updated. Franziska touched the screen and checked the updates..

Updated information:

Defendant: Genya Arikado/Adrian Tepes/Alucard
Age: 600+ years, exact age undetermined.

A dhampir, half-vampire. Accused from the murder of his father 222 years ago in the year 1797.

Victim: Vladimir Tepes
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Occupation: Unknown

Defendant's father murdered in 1797 by his son.

(Tepes... Now I get it where the Turnabout Impaler comes from!)” Franziska thought. “(Vladimir Tepes... Vlad Tepes!... But if Arikado is his son then... wouldn't that mean that his father is... Dracula?!)

(Wait a second here... Vladimir Tepes?... Are we defending... Dracula's son?!)” Phoenix thought. “(If we are... then situation would change as... the father also has to be a vampire!)

“Mr. Reaper... do you have any evidence from this ol... ancient case?” Judge asked.

“Yes I have Your Honor... I even have some witnesses.” Prosecutor replied.

(No way! THAT is impossible!)” Franziska thought. “ Objection ” She yelled. “THAT is impossible!” Slamming her fist to the table. "(Now we are thinking the same way!)"

Prosecution responded immediately. “ Objection ” Reaper yelled and pointed his scythe towards Franziska again. “Patience little girl, patience... You will see when I present them.” Reaper was tapping the blade on Franziska's shoulder.

(Get that scythe away from me!)” She thought.

Crowd started to speak loudly. “Those witnesses can't be human if they know about that!” “Maybe even prosecutor is not a human!”

“ORDER! ORDER!” Judge yelled banging the gavel. “We are holding a recess and shall reconvene in 20 minutes so prosecution may prepare their witnesses... The court is adjourned!”

People left discussing excitedly amongst themselves.

(I wonder how this is going to end...)” Franziska thought when she and Phoenix walked out of the court room.

(Interesting start.)” Phoenix thought.

(What happens next?)” Maya thought while leaving to join others in the lobby.

Third chapter... during the recess.

III: The trial of dreams: Recess

Monday, July 3rd in 2019, District Court, Defense Lobby, 9:55 AM

Defendant and defenders returned to the lobby.

“What is going on?!.. This shouldn't proceed like this!” Arikado said.

(It shouldn't?!)” Franziska thought.

The door opened and in walked Maya, Pearl and a thick mustached man with brown shoulder length hair with a woman with a blond hair wearing a dress with several shades of blue.

(Who are these two?)” Maya thought.

“Mom... dad, we are in trouble.” Franziska said. “(These are her parents... Then that man must be Bernard.)

(Franny-Annie's parents?... Then that man is Bernard.)” Phoenix thought.

(Oh... they are Franny-Annie's mom and dad.)” Maya thought.

“Well... it seems like that Goddamn Reaper pulled a trick on us!” The man said.

(... Oh so she learned that from her father...)” Franziska thought.

“Alucard... can I talk with you for a moment?” The woman asked.

“Certainly... what is it Thelma?” Alucard asked walked close to her.

Thelma whispered something to Arikado's ear. “I see...” He replied quietly.

“What is it, Uncle Al?” Franziska asked.

“Nothing serious... Don't worry about it.” Arikado replied.

(...I wonder.)” Franziska thought.

“This isn't what we prepared for... it will be more difficult to pull through, but we will make it...” Phoenix said. “(I'm confident... that's a good thing.)”

“Alucard... Isn't this about that time when you were alone fighting Dracula?” Maya asked. “(It is that!)

“Yes... 1797, Shaft's master plan... Where Reaper came up with this idea?” Alucard wondered.

Franziska sighed. “This situation will be tricky... As we know, you did it... although murder is not a correct term.” She said “(What... he did?!)

“Exactly! It isn't, and not to mention it wouldn't matter any way as the victim here was a Goddamn vampire!” Bernard said crossing his arms.

(So IT IS Dracula!... unbelievable!)” Franziska thought. “(I guess you really can't count killing vampire as a murder... as they are already dead.)

(I was right... Vampires don't fit into human jurisdiction!)” Phoenix thought.

(The way Bernard speaks... is he a... vampire hunter?)” Franziska thought. “(Am I... I mean SHE one too?!)

“Not to forget the fact that back then... He could be brought back.” Thelma added.

(Is this... a family of hunters?!)” Maya thought. “Yeah... Drac, has come back again, again and again...”

(Dracula could be brought back?!... that doesn't sound good!)” Phoenix thought.

(He can come back?!... Then this case doesn't make any sense at all!)” Franziska thought. “You fought your own father... that doesn't really count as a murder... It was a duel.” She said. “(... Right it would have a been a kill, not a murder.)

“This case is 222 years old... but how it's possible that it is in here... Shouldn't this be handled by Romanian jurisdiction?” Phoenix wondered. “(Hey! That's true!)

“Hey... way to go Nick! Now I have something to object for immediately after the court goes back in session!” Franziska said excitedly. “(That is a good move... Among some others.)

“I wonder what kind of evidence prosecution has collected.” Phoenix said. “Not to mention who are the witnesses?” He wondered. “(Yeah... Definitely something non-humans.)

(I'd like to know that as well.)” Franziska thought.

“There aren't many options... They are probably some of the more human like monsters that were in that Goddamn demon castle at that time.” Bernard said.

(Demon castle... is it that how the place is called?)” Franziska thought. “(That... doesn't sound... good... at all.)

“I have no idea about the evidence, but for the witnesses... There can be only two.” Arikado said.

“Evidence is most likely made up.” Franziska said. “(If she is sure...)

“Two?... and who are they Mr. Alucard?” Pearl asked.

“Only things who could be considered human like, Orlox... another vampire who lived in the castle and... that demon... The Succubus...”

“You mean those Goddamn seductress demons? Which one you are referring to Tepes?” Bernard asked.

(Seductress demon... This will be trouble!)” Phoenix thought.

(Vampire and a demon as a witnesses?!.. I think we got those weapons for a reason! This could get ugly...)” Franziska thought.

“The one in charge of the rest... the so called Hi-succubus.”

“She is trouble... I will keep her at bay if she tries to seduce everyone in there.” Franziska said. “(She has to mean the whip.)

“You mean you whip her, right?” Phoenix asked. “(I think so.)

“Twice as hard if that bitch tries to do something to you!” Franziska said and pointed at Phoenix. “You are mine... and mine only Mr. Phoenix Kischine-Wright!” She said. “(Well aren't we possessive...What was that name in the middle?)

“Likewise Ms. Franziska Belmont-Schneider.” Phoenix replied. “(... Belmont?... Kischine?.. What are those names?)

(... Belmont?...)” Franziska thought.

(... Is she related to them?!... and Nick... No way!)” Maya thought.

Pearl was thinking something “What about Medusa?” She asked.

(Medusa?!)” Franziska thought.

(Pearly seems to know quite a lot!)” Maya thought.

“What about that snake haired freak?” Franziska asked.

“Couldn't she be a witness too?” Pearl asked.

“Well... I think she'd need to cover her 'hair' and wear eyeglasses or she could petrify people in there.” Phoenix said. “(Hmm... I think I agree on that one.)

“But she has that snake's body too... She wouldn't pass.” Maya said.

Phoenix did a judge imitation “Would the witness please slither to the stand?” He chuckled. “(Hmm... no that wouldn't work.)”

Franziska laughed as well as Maya. “Good one Nick.” Maya said.

“Oh... I got it.” Pearl said.

“Courtroom doesn't need any more snakes disguised or otherwise after that Goddamn snake Manfred von Karma!” Bernard said.

(... What... Papa!?)” Franziska thought.

(Von Karma?!... It seems Bernard also doesn't like him.)” Phoenix thought.

(Huh?... What's this?)” Maya thought.

“Yes it wasn't only about Edgeworth...” Phoenix said venomously. “(This is getting interesting here!)

(I know that he is referring to DL-6 with that...)” Franziska thought. “If he would have succeeded... You wouldn't be here anymore... Who knows what would have happened to me!” She said equally venomously. “(... What does she mean by that?!)

(...What does that mean?)” Phoenix thought.

(What Franny-Annie means with that?)” Maya thought.

“Nothing happened as we arrived in time...” Arikado said.

“... Yes... you still have..us..as... that... monster Von Karma didn't manage to destroy us.” Thelma said her voice shaking.

Arikado went to Thelma who quietly replied. “I'm sorry...”

(Papa... to destroy?!)” Franziska thought. “(If everything is all right... then there shouldn't be any reason for Mrs. Schneider to cry.)

(Bad memories of something?)” Phoenix thought.

(What is wrong with her?)” Maya thought.

Bernard was also clenching his fists.

“Anyway... we are going to win this thing no matter what the prosecution throws at us!” Franziska said determined.

“Even flying sickles?” Phoenix asked. “(What do I mean by that?)

“Err... hopefully not.” Franziska replied. “(What was that about?)

(Flying sickles... EEP!)” Maya thought.

“Hey... I heard that trial was having quite dramatic turn to the worse, so I decided to get this.” They heard a new voice from the door. It was woman with light gray hair tied into ponytail wearing a pink t-shirt and red shorts. She handed a book to Franziska.

“Ah... good thinking Ingrid... thanks.” Franziska said and smiled. “(... INGRID?!... My sister!)

“Not at all Franziska.” Ingrid replied.

“Belmont Chronicles huh?... Reaper's prosecution is pretty much dead.” Phoenix said smiling. “(It is?)

(Lemme see it!)” Maya thought.

“Oh yes... This is heavy ammunition for us.” Franziska said. “(I'm guessing in that book is a detailed explanation what happened back then?)

“Thank you Ingrid... at least there's a one good thing born in Von Karma line.” Bernard said.

(Ingrid... Von Karma?! Is she Manfred's older daughter?)” Phoenix thought.

(She has to be Franziska's... Meaning von Karma's sister!)” Maya thought.

“Von Karma's evil ways ended with Manfred... I will not follow on that path.” Ingrid said venomously.

(But... what about me?!)” Franziska thought. “(Von Karma's evil ways??..)

(What about Franziska von Karma?)” Phoenix thought. “(And what does Ingrid mean with Von Karma's evil ways?)

(But, what about our Franziska?)” Maya thought. “(What evil ways Von Karma had... besides being a bastardly prosecutor?)

“Hmm... it seems like the recess is almost over... We better get going.” Bernard said.

Phoenix looked at his watch. “Yes... 5 minutes.. We'd better go, Franny-Annie.”

“All right... at least we got something during this recess.” Franziska said. “(I'd say we have conclusive evidence on our hands here.)

“I think we are taking a look at that book fairly often.” Arikado said.

“What other option do we have?.. Words are not enough even though I somewhat remember what happened.” Franziska said. “(Oh... She does.)

“We are going again... Good luck Franny-Annie!” Maya said. “(This is really getting interesting..!)

“We are going as well, you can do it, you are my daughter after all... And you have excellent aide standing just to next to you.” Bernard said.

“You'll do fine.” Thelma said.

“Thanks mom... dad.” Franziska replied. “(She has wonderful parent's... Something I didn't have...)

“I'll go as well... See you after the trial!” Ingrid said.

(Those two are great.)” Phoenix thought. “Okay, let's go or we'll be late.”

“The trial will continue... Mr. Arikado and his defense please enter the courtroom.” Bailiff said.

“Watch out Reaper! Now we are armed and you are finished!” Franziska said.

Once again the three entered through the dual doors.

Fourth chapter the court back in session... and the trial actually gets started.

Alucard is basically accused from the events on Symphony of the Night here.

IV: The trial of dreams: Back in session

District Court, Courtroom n.13, 10:16 AM

Crowd had pretty much settled in when Arikado, Phoenix and Franziska walked in through the doors, each to their respectful positions.

Judge banged the gavel. “The court is back in session! Are you each of you ready to continue?” Judge asked eying both tables.

“Defense is ready to resume Your Honor.” Franziska replied. “(Are you sure about that?)

“Prosecution is fully prepared Your Honor.” Reaper replied with his gritty voice.

“Does this mean that your witnesses are ready?” Judge asked.

Reaper nodded. “Yes, Your Honor. I only need to call them.”

“Very well then... The prosecution may call it's first witness.” Judge said.

(Aren't you forgetting something?)” Franziska thought. “ Objection ” She yelled slamming her fist to the table. “(Oh good... So you didn't forget.)

“What now?!” Reaper asked.

“Ms. Schneider... you have something to say?” Judge asked.

“Yes, Your Honor... I object to continuing these proceedings... Due to special circumstances trial could proceed even though the case is over 200 years old... BUT it didn't happen in our territory! Therefore I request immediate termination of these proceedings for the reason that this matter belongs to Romanian jurisdiction and not ours!” She said. “(Well said.)

(She is good!)” Phoenix thought.

“You are absolutely right about that Ms. Schneider!” Judge said.

Prosecutor Reaper rubbed his forehead with his fingers. “ Objection ” He yelled. “I suspected that something like this would occur... International court has agreed that this case can be handled by ANY court in the world on ANY level... therefore we can continue these proceedings.”

“Goddamnit!” Franziska said gritting her teeth. “(I agree.)

Objection ” Phoenix yelled. “Not so fast Reaper!.. Do you a have proof to show us that the nature of the matter is exactly as you say?” He asked “(Very good point there.)

(Phoenix Wright strikes again.)” Franziska thought. “Exactly, do you have any document to prove your words?”

“Of course I have!” Reaper said and handed a document to Judge who immediately took a look at it..

“Hmm... yes... and it is undersigned by several judges in international court... We will resume the proceedings.” Judge said.

“It was worth the try.” Phoenix whispered.

“We will have the advantage after all...” Franziska whispered back.

“Prosecution may call their first witness.” Judge said.

“Thank you... The prosecution calls Mr. Orlox to the stand.” Reaper said.

Soon elegant looking pale gentleman, dressed in a stylish but somewhat old fashioned suit, walked to the stand with somewhat relaxed expression.

“Your name and occupation...” Reaper asked.

“I'm simply known as Orlox... and I have no actual occupation currently.”

“Ermm... You were around at the time of the incident Mr. Orlox... then, what are you?” Judge asked.

Orlox humphed “Shouldn't you be able to guess that... Very well.” He said and opened his mouth revealing a pair of fangs.

“So... you are a vampire?!” Judge asked shocked..

“Precisely mortal... a full vampire... Unlike that half-breed sitting over there!” Orlox replied pointing at Arikado “Can we proceed? I hate waiting.”

Some people in crowd started screaming.

“Order! Order!” Judge yelled and banged the gavel. “There's no need to panic!”

“Don't worry people. If he tries anything I'm ready.” Franziska whispered. “(... I'm pretty sure now that she is a vampire hunter.)

“As am I” Phoenix whispered patting his concealed holster with a sword. “(OK... she is a vampire hunter... So am I...?!)

(Wait... that does mean that Phoenix is too?)” Franziska thought.

“Of course Mr. Orlox... give your testimony whenever you are ready.” Reaper said politely.

Franziska noticed an update and checked it.

Court Record updated:

Witness Data: first witness added.
Name: Orlox
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Occupation: Nothing specific.

Vampire, was in location where victim was murdered.

(Very vague information... But what could you expect?)” Franziska thought.

“Very detailed information...” Phoenix whispered sarcastically.

“Not to mention we have a Goddamn blood sucker a witness... I swear he is going to taste my whip is he tries something...” Franziska hissed. “(She obviously doesn't like vampires.)

Testimony In the year 1797

“I was simply hanging around in my quarters in the castle at that time. I was aware that Lord Dracula's son had assaulted the castle in an attempt to murder his father. So I was getting ready in case he would show up... And he did. Alucard proceeded to attack me instantly at the moment he entered to my room... I had to retreat and Alucard then continued his massacre around the castle halls... That is all.” Orlox told.

“Hmm... I don't see anything strange in there.” Judge said.

“That is because you don't know what is going on.” Franziska said quietly. “(Neither do I... If somebody could enlighten me.)” She thought. “Nevertheless the defense wants to cross examine Your Honor!”

Reaper shook his head. “Defense must be seeing ghosts... But very well, you may do so if it amuses you.”

(The man is a vampire... so seeing a ghost wouldn't surprise me at this point.)” Phoenix thought.

(There is a vampire standing there... ghost wouldn't surprise me anymore.)” Franziska thought. “I already noticed one thing he slipped.” She whispered grinning. “(That was a pretty serious slip, Mr. Orlox.)

“I think I noticed it too... Nobody has mentioned that before this.” Phoenix whispered back. “(Ahha!... I got it!)

Cross Examination

“I was simply hanging around in my quarters in the castle at that time. I was aware that Lord Dracula's son had assaulted the castle in an attempt to murder his father.”

Hold it! ” Franziska yelled “Did you say... Lord Dracula's son?” She asked “(Got you... sucker!)

“Yes I did... !” Orlox replied and flinched.

“Adrian Tepes' father is Vladimir... why did you call him Lord Dracula?” Franziska asked in demanding tone.

Objection ” Reaper yelled. “That question is irrelevant!”

Objection ” Franziska countered. “I think not, Reaper!”

Objection ” Reaper yelled and held scythe's blade above Franziska's head again. “Your opinion is irrelevant, little girl.” He snarled.

Objection ” Franziska yelled. “What's that supposed to mean?!” She demanded. “(Little girl?!)

Crowd started to speak.

“ORDER! ORDER!” Judge yelled banging the gavel. “Enough... both of you.!.. Ms. Schneider's objection is sustained!” He said. “.. Mr. Orlox, tell us why you called Mr. Tepes with that name...”

“Very well.” Orlox said and sighed. “Reason is very simple. He was my landlord at the time and his surname is Tepes... same as Vlad Tepes Dracula... And there you go why Mr. Tepes is called also Lord Dracula.” He turned towards Franziska glaring at her. “Is the defense happy now?”

(He isn't simply just called Lord Dracula... He is DRACULA!)” Maya thought.

Franziska was about to snatch the whip from her belt. “(That vamp needs a whipping...)

“There you go Ms. Schneider.. irrelevant question...” Reaper said.

“Nice save... Mr. Vampire.” Phoenix whispered. “(That confirms it.)

“Clever blood sucker.” Franziska whispered back. “(Judge isn't too smart as always.)” She thought. “It could be better if that was added to your testimony Mr. Orlox.”

“Mr. Orlox would you add this to your testimony?” Judge asked.

“Very well...” Orlox replied.

“I was simply hanging around in my quarters in my landlord's castle at that time. I was aware that Lord Dracula's son had assaulted the castle in an attempt to murder his father.”

Hold it! ” Franziska yelled.

“What now?” Orlox asked.

“Mr. Orlox... How do you know that Mr. Arikado was going to murder his father?” Franziska asked.

Objection “That is useless question!”

(Not again!)” Franziska thought. “ Objection ” She yelled. “So you say, Reaper but I... want to know.” Franziska stated.

Objection ” Reaper pointed his scythe towards Franziska “You do nothing with that information!”

Objection ” Franziska countered. “That is for me to decide... don't try to act like that Goddamn snake Manfred von Karma!” She said venomously. “(Schneider's do not seem to like him... )

(Whoa!... What ever the reason is for Schneider's disliking Von Karma... It has to be pretty big.)” Phoenix thought.

“Manfred von Karma was a loyal servant... Hold your tongue... child!” Reaper said with a threatening tone.

(Loyal servant?)” Phoenix thought.

Hold it! ” Franziska yelled. “Servant of... what... or who?”

“Servant of system of course.... what else?” Reaper asked.

“More like servant of a system of Chaos.” Franziska hissed. “(What does she mean by that?!)

“Let's get back on trail you two...Ms. Schneider... objection sustained.” Judge said.

“Reaper is trying to sabotage every single objection we have...” Phoenix whispered.

“I noticed... He seems to be dead on to get Alucard convicted...” Franziska said. “(That man is suspicious...)

“Mr. Orlox, answer to Ms. Schneider's question.” Judge said.

“Adrian had been on rather bad terms with his father for several hundred years... I don't see any other reason why he would come to Castlevania... Except to slay his father.” Orlox replied.

Reaper flinched.

“Did I just heard a major slip up there?” Phoenix wondered. “(Hmm... Did I?)"

“Yes you did... Mr. Orlox, sorry but you are going down...” Franziska grinned. “(Umm... what is it exactly?” She thought.

(That was a very baaad slip...)” Maya thought.

Hold it! ” Franziska yelled smiling. “Mr. Orlox... you revealed something very important just now.”

“And what was that?” Orlox asked.

“Interesting matter about... Mr. Vladimir Tepes' state of being...” Franziska replied mysteriously.

“Argh!” Orlox grunted.

“What do you mean, Ms. Schneider?” Judge asked. “Tell us, what do you have in mind.”

“Simple your honor... Mr. Orlox said that Mr. Arikado and his father had been on bad terms for HUNDREDS of years... and that only reason he would come to Castlevania... Vladimir's castle is to slay him.” Franziska explained, “Why this is strange?... Because that would mean that his father has also been around for HUNDREDS of years...” She kept a pause pointing her finger at the prosecution. “Therefore Mr. Vladimir Tepes isn't a human either!”

Crowd started to murmur. “What?! victim also isn't human?” “Then he must be a vampire!” “Does killing a vampire count as murder?”

“Order, order!” Judge yelled banging the gavel. “Interesting turn of events.”

Objection ” Reaper shouted and once again spun his scythe settling the blade above Franziska's head. “This doesn't change the fact that Alucard murdered his father... otherwise he wouldn't have any business there!”

Franziska raised her eyebrow. “(I think I... she realized something.) She thought. “ Hold it! ” Franziska yelled slamming her first to the table again. “Mr. Reaper how do YOU know about whether Mr. Arikado didn't have any business to Castlevania or not... Especially, why you call him Alucard all of a sudden?!” She asked with a demanding tone. “(Go me!.... I mean her...)

(This trial is so awesome! Too bad this isn't happening for real.)” Maya thought.

Objection ” Reaper yelled. “I was simply referring to what Mr. Orlox told... And does it matter how he is called... Alucard is one of Mr. Arikado's names anyway?!” He roared. “Why I do even explain myself to brat such as you?”

Franziska squeezed her fist and gritted her teeth. “(I would have whipped him already!)” She thought. “Still... Mr. Orlox's testimony isn't helping your case, Reaper... His testimony doesn't prove a thing... He is simply speculating, nothing more!” Franziska said. “Of course living simply as a tenant in Dracula's castle... what would he know?”

Orlox was gritting his teeth. “Just watch yourself girl!... I just might get hungry suddenly and might want to sink my fangs into your neck!... You look delicious.”

“Then you have to go by me first vampire!” Phoenix shouted. “If you even lay one finger on Franny-Annie, you are as good as dead!” He pointed his finger at the vampire. “(Hey, hey ... Calm down!)

“... Accursed vampire hunter!” Orlox hissed.

(So I am a vampire hunter!)” Phoenix thought.

(I'm speechless.)” Franziska thought. “Nick, calm down...”

(What an outburst!)” Maya thought.

Phoenix and Orlox were still glaring at each other.

(Hey... me... That is a vampire... V-A-M-P-I-R-E! Do I need to spell it out for you?!... Well, unless you know what you are getting into...)” Phoenix thought.

(Phoenix Wright... Do you know what you are getting yourself into?!... By the looks of it, I guess you know...)” Franziska thought.

“Mr. Wright... if you are going to slay that vampire... Please do it after the trial so we can resume the proceedings.” Judge said.

(Bummer...)” Maya thought.

Orlox seemed to get nervous because of what judge suggested.

Reaper was grumbling something while tapping his scythe. He raised his gaze and looked at the now nervous gentleman vampire. “You are useless... LEAVE!” Reaper snarled. Swung his scythe pointing at Orlox and then pointing at the door.

“1-0 for us.” Franziska whispered.

Promptly the vampire left the stand in quite a hurry.

Court Record update:

Witness Data: Orlox

Was a tenant in Mr. Tepes castle, Castlevania in 1797. Fought defendant at that time.

Graham Reaper tapped his fingers on the table, he was clearly annoyed.

“Mr. Reaper... is your next witness ready, or do we need a recess?” Judge asked.

“Recess won't be necessary Your Honor. We can proceed immediately!” Reaper replied. “Prosecution calls Ms. Suzy Cutebush to the stand!”

Second and more problematic witness enters and "big guns" are brought in. More SotN references inbound.

V: The trial of dreams: Seduction

Just then in walked beautiful reddish brown haired woman wearing a revealing black satin dress. She was waving her hips seductively and had already captured looks of every single man in the courtroom... Except Arikado and Reaper.

(... Oh ho... Somebody isn't playing fair!)” Maya thought.

Phoenix was staring at the voluptuous figure that was approaching the stand. “(Hey me! Quit that staring or you'll be in trouble...)” Phoenix thought. Next he felt a slap
and regained his senses. “(Exactly something like that.)

Phoenix turned towards Franziska who lowered her hand again. “Do not let her charm you, Nick. Don't forget what she is!” Franziska hissed. “(So this is a succubus... not a good start.)

“Sorry...” Phoenix said.

“It's alright... Just be more careful from now on.” Franziska said.

“I think we should be more worried about the judge... look.” Phoenix said pointing at judge who was totally mesmerized.

(If she can charm the judge then Franny-Annie is in trouble!)” Maya thought.

“Goddamn demon bitch...” Franziska said and went to her whip. “(Now we are getting somewhere!)” She thought. Franziska detached the whip from her belt.

“A-are you seriously going to whip her into a bloody pulp?” Phoenix asked nervously. “(Uh-oh this doesn't look good!)

(Hey! I don't think we are supposed to kill...err... slay any one in here!)” Franziska thought. She found the metallic cudgel tip and grabbed it and began turning it... Soon it popped loose leaving a normal tip in its place. “There... did you think that I intended use full force here?” Franziska asked. “(I did.)

“Well... yeah?” Phoenix replied. “(I thought so too.)

“Don't worry I'm just going to get my point through.” Franziska said raising her hand lashing the whip. Incredibly fast lash hit the womans side. She shout and turned towards the attacker.

Franziska roller the whip back and glared at the woman. “Behave...” She said with a warning tone.

Succubus' charm lost it's power when Franziska managed to distract her... now all men were wondering what had happened.

“Control yourself...” Reaper said quietly.

Woman stepped to the stand still glaring at Franziska. Only when Reaper started to speak, the demon stopped glaring.

“Your name and occupation if you please.” Reaper said.

“My name is Suzy Cutebush... and I am an actress.” She said sweetly.

“What kind of actress exactly?” Judge asked.

“I work in theater.” Suzy replied.

Franziska saw again the very familiar message on the screen.

Court Record update:

Witness data:

Name: Suzy Cutebush
Age: Unknown
Gender: Female
Occupation: Actress in theater

“And you were in Mr. Tepes' castle in the 1797 correct?” Judge asked.

“Precisely, Your Honor. I was one of his servants.” Suzy replied.

“Then perhaps you are ready to give your testimony.” Reaper suggested.

“Yes I am ready, prosecutor.” Suzy said.

Testimony Alucard's Attack

“Alucard had assaulted the castle and was pretty much destroying anything that crossed his way. Many of the castle's inhabitants died because of Alucard... while searching for his father. In the end Alucard found him and murdered Lord Dracula!”

“This sounds more serious than I originally thought.” Judge said.

“It is pretty clear that he is not just a murdered, but a mass murderer!” Reaper said.

Objection ” Franziska yelled. “Defense still would like to cross examine the witness!” Franziska said. “(That testimony was pretty vague...)

“There are many holes open in there which need clarification.” Phoenix said. “(You bet there is!)

“This trial runs only because the judge has no idea exactly what happened.” Franziska whispered. “(Judge isn't suspecting anything yet.)

“But we know... and that will be the downfall of prosecution's case.” Phoenix whispered back. “(Hopefully...)

“Very well... you may cross examine the witness.” Reaper sighed.

“You are going down... bitch!” Franziska said.

Cross Examination

Alucard had assaulted the castle and was pretty much destroying anything that crossed his way.

Hold it! ” Franziska yelled. “How did you know that Alucard had come to Castlevania?”

“I didn't know about his arrival at first but I knew someone had attacked the castle due to screams of harpies, sound of shattering bones, moaning of zombies and explosions...” Suzy replied.

“What? Harpies and zombies?!” Judge yelled.

“Ah... I didn't said anything like it... didn't I?” Suzy turned towards Judge and fluttered her eyes.

Judge blushed. “No... you didn't say... anything... like.”

“Someone is playing very dirty here!” Franziska said. “ Take that ” She yelled and lashed her whip again hitting Suzy in the face who screamed.

(Even without the tip that whip is... stronger than Von Karma's!)” Phoenix thought. “(Not only that, but Franny-Annie seems to be even more skilled with whips...)

“W-what?...” Judge said regaining his senses again.

Franziska pulled the whip pack and glared at the woman on the stand. “I warned you... every time you do that I'm going to whip you... Understand?” She hissed. “(She deserved that.)
Suzy glared back baring her teeth.

“Defense would like to resume the cross examination, Your Honor.” Franziska said.

Objection ” Reaper shouted. “Ms. Schneider just hit the witness with her whip! I demand her request to be denied!”

Objection ” Franziska countered. “I had a very specific reason why to do that Your Honor!”

Objection ” Reaper countered. “Assault on witness cannot be tolerated and she did it twice already! I demand Ms. Schneider to be held in contempt of court!” He shouted.

Objection ” Franziska countered. “Then why didn't you object in the first place... It looks like you act only when situation seems to favor you...”

SILENCE!” Reaper roared. “Shut up you brat!” He once again pointed the scythe towards Franziska.

(I'm glad he only uses it to intimidate his opponents.)” Phoenix thought.

“Uhmm... Yes... I see your point... Ms. Schneider will be in...” Judge said.

“Will you quit it?!” Franziska yelled and again Suzy screamed after getting a whiplash. “(She is really starting piss me off!... Succubus' seem to be so Goddamn annoying!)

(Heh... It's good that Franny-Annie is keeping that demon at bay.)” Maya thought.

“There... she did it again Your Honor!” Reaper protested.

“Yes she did Reaper, exactly that.” Phoenix said.

Objection ” Franziska yelled ”This bitch charmed you Your Honor!... Purpose of my lashes is to distract her.. thus breaking the trance!” She pointed at Suzy who was glaring back at her.

“Me?... I have no such talent... The defense is making up lies!” Suzy protested.

“Oh really? Every single woman or girl in the courtroom can prove that something was going on with the men...” Franziska said.

“Yeah... she definitely did something.” “What a bitch!” Was heard from the female audience.

“There you go, Your Honor...” Franziska said. “Can I resume the cross examination now?”

“Hmm... I guess so... You may proceed Ms. Schneider.” Judge said and nodded.

“Grrrrr!” Reaper was glaring at his opponents.

Many of the castle's inhabitants died because of Alucard... while searching for his father.

Hold it! ” Franziska yelled. “Many of the inhabitant's died because of him you say?.. Otherwise it would be serious matter, but according to what you said, conditions have changed.” Franziska said. “(You are nailed!)

“... You said that you didn't know about Alucard's arrival at first but knew someone had attacked the castle due to screams of harpies, shattering of bones, moaning of zombies and explosions...” Franziska recalled. “Are these the inhabitants you were referring to?” She asked. “Zombies, skeletons and harpies... all of them are monsters!”

Suzy flinched nervously.

Crowd started to speak again. “What... a castle inhabited by monsters!?” “What kind of horrible place is that!?”

“Not to mention... some are pretty undead so I think murder as a term can't be used .” Franziska said. “(Castlevania, a castle of monsters?... Any sensible human would stay far away from it.)

“This is why Mr. Tepes' castle is also known as the Demon Castle, Your Honor.” Phoenix added. “(Castlevania the Demon Castle... That sounds like a stronghold of evil.)

(That place starts to sound more and more evil...)” Franziska thought.

Judge was thinking something. “So... if the castles inhabitants are monsters... Then I'd say that defendant was defending himself... or simply striked before he could be attacked...”

“Your Honor?” Reaper asked.

“Clearly the inhabitants are hostile in nature... and especially if we are talking about undead... something that is already dead, it isn't possible to actually murder them, is it?” Judge wondered.

“Exactly Your Honor, I don't see how slaying a zombie or any reanimated corpse could be counted as a murder.” Franziska replied. “There is still one thing to cross examine...” She said. “(And I suspect that will be the final nail in the coffin...)

In the end Alucard found him and murdered Lord Dracula!

Hold it! ” Franziska yelled. “So you say... Then you can probably tell us where and how... it happened?” She asked.

“Why of course... Alucard attacked his father in the castle keep's throne room. Alucard stabbed Lord Dracula from the back with his sword!” Suzy explained.

“... And here is the murder weapon!” Reaper declared in a victorious tone revealing an old and stylish looking sword.

Court Record Updated:

Evidence Data:

Alucard Sword:

Defendant's sword, the murder weapon.

“... Ouch! I was wondering when he brings up the evidence.” Phoenix said. “(That took long.)

“Just waiting for the right moment...” Franziska said.”(Finally...)

“Ms. Cutebush please add this to your testimony as this seems to be important matter.” Judge said.

“Very well, Your Honor.” Suzy replied.

In the end Alucard found Lord Dracula in the castle's throne room situated in castle keep. He stabbed his father in the back with his sword.

“I'm sorry Ms. Cutebush but you are finished...” Franziska said. “(Huh?! Really)

(I guess this is again something which I don't know...)” Phoenix thought.

Objection ” Franziska yelled. “Ms. Cutebush, you are nothing but a fat liar!”

“What?! I'm not fat!” Suzy protested.

“Maybe... but still a liar. There are two things wrong in your testimony... You said that Lord Dracula was in the castle keep and that Alucard used his sword to stab him from the back.” Franziska said and kept a pause. “Well here's the news for you... DRACULA WASN'T IN THE CASTLE AT THAT TIME!” She yelled. “(What?!)

(What the heck?!)” Phoenix thought.

Crowd started to speak again.

"Order!" Judge yelled banging the gavel.

Objection ” Reaper yelled. “That is impossible!”

Objection ” Franziska countered. “You may object when I'm finished Reaper!” She said. “Another thing is the sword... There is no way he could have had Alucard Sword at that time.”

“Ms. Schneider... how do you know all this?” Judge asked.

“I know what has happened more or less... It is written in the family chronicles.” Franziska replied. “I can myself clear up some things.”

“If you are able to... then please do.” Judge said.

Objection ” Reaper shouted. “If you have nothing else than words it has no use.”

Objection ” Franziska countered. “That is why I have the Belmont Chronicles in my possession here.” She smiled. “(Bring in the big guns!)

“URK!” Reaper flinched.

“Proceed Ms. Schneider.” Judge said.

“Alright, first the reason why Alucard came to the castle...” Franziska said and opened the book and found a right part. “His reason was to investigate a source of evil he had sensed which woke him up from his slumber. Castlevania's appearance told him that something was wrong, obviously he would head there first to investigate... Not to murder his father.”

“Do you mean this castle can appear and disappear?” Judge asked.

“Yes, and it can also reconstruct itself when destroyed.” Franziska replied. “(... So in a way it can't be destroyed.)” She thought. “Why he can't have the sword... He encountered Dracula's confidant in the courtyard who took his original equipment away... including the Alucard Sword.”

(Castle that can reconstruct itself... Is it alive?)” Phoenix thought.

“Then... the sword which prosecution presented as evidence is not his sword?” Judge asked.

“Precisely, and before I forget...” Franziska replied. “Bailiff can I take closer look at the sword?”

Bailiff brought the sword to Franziska who started to examine it. Then she burst into laughter. “(... What is so funny?)” She wondered.

Soon Phoenix was also laughing holding his hand on his forehead . “(Okayyy?... This must be an inside joke which anybody else doesn't realize.)

“What are you laughing about?!” Reaper asked.

“Hee hee, sorry about that...Alucard is both my friend and teacher, which is why I know his weapons well... THIS is NOT his sword although it looks like it...” Franziska explained. “This is not the Alucard Sword... It is ALUCART SWORD!” She said. “(And?... What is special about it?)

“Alucart Sword is a cheap, very much inferior copy of the Alucard Sword... much less powerful than the genuine blade.” Phoenix explained. “(Ohh... I had a hunch that something like that was going on from the name.)

Reaper's hands were squeezed into fist's and he was shaking.

“And now the final... Alucard did encounter some in the castle keep, BUT it wasn't Dracula... It was Richter Belmont who acted as the current lord of Castlevania mind controlled by Shaft... one of Dracula's dark priests... Otherwise they wouldn't have fought each other.” Franziska said closing the book.

“That is pretty conclusive Ms. Schneider.” Judge said “Do you mind if I take a look at that book myself?”

“Not at all Your Honor.” Franziska said and handed the book to judge and then turned towards Reaper. “Your so called witnesses have failed to prove anything, Graham Reaper!” She pointed her finger at the prosecutor. “Nick, give me a pie.” Franziska whispered. “(A pie?... Getting hungry?)

“Ah... Richter Belmont is a vampire hunter, I see...” Judge said while reading.

(Pie?... Why would I have pies in my?...)” Phoenix thought. He had opened his case and true enough there were cream pies wrapped in transparent plastic. “(This isn't time to eat...)

Franziska took one pie and started unwrapping it.

(I don't think this time to eat.)” Franziska thought. She held the cream pie in her hands and started to speak. “Graham Reaper, have a humiliating taste of defeat!” Franziska yelled. “(She isn't going to?!)” She thought.

Take that ” After yelling Franziska let the pie fly and hit it's mark without fail. With a splat the pie hit prosecutor Reaper's face.

“Mmppphgggrrrr!” Reaper mumbled.

(Ha ha ha... Way to go Franny-Annie!)” Maya thought.

(... Is THAT why the pies are there?)” Phoenix thought.

“LEAVE MY *pthew* SIGHT!” Reaper roared at the woman on the stand.

Suzy humphed and started to walk away.

Court Record update:

Evidence Data:

Alucart Sword:

Cheap replica of the Alucard Sword.

“Well Reaper? It seems that you have no longer any witnesses... what will you do now?” Franziska asked.

“This case seems pretty clear to me. So if you have nothing else Mr. Reaper...” Judge said handing the book back to Franziska.

Objection ” Reaper shouted. “Then... I will witness myself!” Reaper roared with his eyes glowing. “I will witness... Your end, Franziska Annabell Schneider!”

The grand finale and the end of the dream metamorphing into a nightmare!

Who didn't see this coming?

Rewrite reaches page 50 and after this we get to actual Day 1 events which began on page 7 in the last version.

VI: The trial of dreams: Nightmare Metamorphosis

(My end... Hardly!... You have lost already...)” Franziska thought. “(What...
What is he ... doing?!)

“Mr. Reaper... What do you mean by that?!” Judge asked.

“You are dismissed Your Honor!” Reaper yelled and swung the scythe towards the judge severing his head from his body. Judge's head rolled to the floor and his corpse fell behind the chair. Audience screamed.

(What... the Hell?!)” Franziska thought.

(W-what is going on here?!)” Phoenix thought.

(I have a really bad feeling about this where this is heading!...)” Maya
thought.

Franziska quicky took the cudgel tip and rolled it back in place. “(I'm
predicting... Some serious whipping!)
” She thought.

Phoenix put his hands in his suit and pulled out the sword he received from Mr.
Arikado in the beginning. “It seems your father gave us these for reason!”
Phoenix said. “(... Uh oh... This isn't going to end well!)

“Should gave guessed that this would happen...” Arikado said and pulled out
the sword with gorgeous flashing blade.

(So that is Alucard Sword... it's looks great!)” Phoenix thought.

Two people climbed down from the audience. Thelma and Bernard.

“I think this masquerade has taken long enough... SHOW YOUR TRUE FORM YOU GODDAMN MONSTER!!” Bernard roared armed with a whip of his own.

(... True form?!)” Franziska thought.

“Grr... Orlox, Succubus!... keep them busy!” Reaper roared.

Former witnesses returned back... Orlox was himself... but Suzy had bat like
wings on her back.

“Yes master...” Orlox said.
“This will be over quickly.” Succubus said and smirked.

“Very good Schneider... You got me...” Reaper said. He began to float in the air and an aura of dark energy surrounded him. Prosecutor began to transform. His feet began to pull back and his robe transformed into a more tattered version. Reaper's hands withered nearly to bone and his face too into a skeletal form that was grinning evilly. Eyes shrunk leaving a mere holes with
little orbs of evil glow.

(W-w-what the hell is that?!)” Franziska thought. “... Death! I should have
known... who else would be able to think up something like this!” She hissed. “(What?... D-d-Death?!)

(D-d-Death for real?! We ARE in trouble now!)” Phoenix thought.

“(Thing's just got a turn to the worse!)” Maya thought.

“I'll take the girl... She will never awaken when I'm done!” Orlox said looking
at Franziska...

“Then, I'll take the man.” Succubus said looking at Phoenix.

“In that case... I'll be helping Phoenix!” Bernard said.

“And I help our baby!” Thelma said.

“I will take on Death.” Arikado said turning towards hovering figure who held his
scythe at ready.

“Are you sure you can take him on by yourself, Tepes?” Bernard asked.

“I have fought him before, if you don't remember.” Arikado replied and raised
his sword at ready position. “This won't be problem...”

“You are too arrogant for your own good Alucard!” Death said.

"Just to remind you, that we are still outnumbered!" Orlox said.

“Only temporarily... I was getting into it... “ Death said. “Transfero ut victus
mortuus! (Transform into living dead!)” He yelled swinging his scythe, starting a
process changing everyone in the audience in to zombies one by one... Everyone
expect Maya and Pearl.

(This is really getting bad!)” Maya thought.

Zombies were turning to the girls who weren't transformed.

“M-mystic Maya!...” Pearl said scared.

“I see it Pearly, don't worry... climb down quickly!” Maya said. Just then a
zombie grabbed her dress.

“Hands off!” She yelled kicking the zombie into face. Zombie fell, felling some
additional zombies with it. “(W-whoa did I just...?!)

“Rabidus Incendia! (Raging Fire)” Thelma yelled unleashing a burst of flames on some of the now very unlively audience.

“Thanks Thelma!” Maya said. “(She's a spell caster?!)

(Was that a... spell?!)” Franziska thought.

(... Is she a mage?!)” Phoenix thought.

Headless judge also rose up and started slowly walking towards his severed head which it picked up carrying the head on other hand and the gavel on the other.

“Judge has been reanimated!” Phoenix yelled. “(Holy shit!)

“He has only the gavel... Don't worry about it!” Franziska said.

“Telum Autus! (Weapon Enlargement)” Death said, resulting the gavel grow in size.

“I take that back... Watch out!” Franziska yelled.

“Guilty... you are all guilty!” Zombie judge said with monotonous voice and was about to slam the enormous gavel to Phoenix's head when Bernard came in between delivering a smashing blow to the zombies side with his whip.

“Uuurgh!” It grunted and staggered backwards.

“Thanks Bernard.” Phoenix said.

“You are welcome, you know you have to survive Phoenix.” Bernard said.

(Huh?)” Phoenix thought. “Situation check... Orlox, Succubus, Death, Zombie judge with an enormous gavel, zombified audience... We have to retreat! It is way too risky to fight in tight quarters!” He said. “(About time to get out of here!)

“Right!... Every one to the door and fast!” Franziska yelled. “That offer is not for you!” She yelled to the approaching zombies and pointed her hand towards them. “Glacies Orbis! (Ice Orb)” Several shining blue energy orb's left Franziska's hand freezing anything on their path into icicles before dissipating. “(... She can also cast spells?!)

(Like mother like daughter..)” Maya thought. “(But wait! I know those spells... Belnades' use them!)

Take that ... and stay back!” Phoenix yelled slashing at one zombie. “(It seems I have done this before as I do not even flinch.)

Just then several skeletons raised from the audience.

“Great, zombie leftovers...” Franziska said sarcastically.

“Forget them... we have to go!” Maya yelled. “(I wholeheartedly agree with that!)

Group reached the door and fled the courtroom with Bernard and Phoenix in the lead.

“Bailiff... we have a situation in the!...” Bernard stopped when the bailiff turned his head... it was nothing but bone.

“Death must have transformed the entire courthouse!... We have no allies!” Arikado said.

Skeleton bailiff pointed it's gun towards the group. When Franziska without any warning jumped over Phoenix and Bernard lashing her whip downwards taking the skeleton with surprise and smashing it into pieces and all before her feet touched the floor. “(I stand corrected... That whip is dangerous!)” She thought. “That takes care from that...”

“Good thinking Ms. Schneider it is more spacious here... Now we can destroy you much more effectively!” Death said and spun the scythe in his hand. “Attack!”

Succubus and Orlox advanced their opponents.

“Pull back... get to the foyer!” Bernard yelled.

“Understood dad!” Franziska replied opened the door and group left the defense lobby only to face more trouble.

“More skeleton bailiffs!” Maya yelled.

“I take care of this!” Bernard said and started spinning his whip with constantly increasing velocity. Group of skeleton bailiffs fired their pistols and Bernard managed block off every single of them.

“Atton Orbis! (Thunder Ball)” Thelma sent a series of electric orbs from her hands which were homing at the skeletons. Soon several bangs later bones were flying around the corridor.

“We are clear... let's get to the exit as fast as possible!” Phoenix said. “(Faster we get out of here the better!)

Group ran towards the foyer and the front door.

“No so fast!” Orlox said and raised his hand making a motion pointing at the door. “Incendia Parietis! (Fire Wall)” Instantly wall of fire rose before the exit barring their escape.

“Great... Now we can't go that way...” Bernard said.

“When there's fire use the emergency exits.” Franziska said.

“Good idea... but where's the closest one?” Phoenix asked. “(I really haven't paid attention to those.)

“There should be several on the sides and the back of the building.” Thelma replied.

“Get going... We stay here and hold them back... It is imperative that you get out of here!” Bernard said.

“But...” Franziska said.

“There's no need to worry, we will follow you later.” Arikado said.

“Alright then... Nick, Maya, Pearly. Let's find ourselves an exit!” Franziska said.

The Four ran back towards defense lobby door passing it and continued running, soon reaching an intersection.

“What the hell?!” Phoenix said. They saw several corridors that went on and on and on... you couldn't see where it ends. “(This isn't making any sense!)

“It seems to be that this courthouse just turned into a Demon Courthouse!” Franziska said. “(This is very bad!)

“Wasn't this much smaller when we came here?” Pearl asked.

“Yeah Pearly... it was.” Maya replied. “(Where's the exit?!)

Some more zombies were coming out of the rooms and started advancing towards the four.

“... Did Death transform the whole courthouse into monsters?!” Maya asked. “(What power! *gulp*)

“It seems so... get ready! We have to clear this undead roadblock to pass!”

“You have the whip, Nick has a sword... but what do I use?!” Maya asked. “(I'm totally defenseless here... Not to mention Pearly!)

“Take advantage of your environment... There are plenty of chairs you could use to whack those brainless fools around.” Franziska suggested. “(Creative thinking.)

“Pearls, stay with Maya... You shouldn't be worried about those unless they get by us.” Phoenix said.

“And there's no need to... Glacies Orbis!” Franziska said.

Icy orb's once again froze everything on their path and the zombies became icicles.

“I didn't expect to get into action this quickly.” Phoenix said while smashing the frozen undead. “(Hm?)

“It is true that you didn't know some things about your bloodline until I came around.” Franziska said lashing her whip about. “(What's this?)

“True... until 2017 I thought that I were just me... And then in summer you entered to the office. Later I find out that you had quite interesting night shift duty and then things changed.” Phoenix said. “(Summer 2017?... What is this?... I really don't think this is time to discuss!)

“Yeah... Victor Flaw was pretty much defeated when you two alongside with Pearly defended be in that Kurain case.” Maya said. “(Victor Flaw?! But wasn't it Franziska who was the prosecutor there?... Shouldn't we concentrate on fighting instead of conversation?)

(What the heck!... I was the prosecutor in that case!... It's almost like I wouldn't exist here... And this really isn't time discuss anything!)” Franziska thought. “Then we began working together not just in the office but also as hunters... What is the chance of that happening?” Franziska said.

“Difficult to say... pretty small, as you and your father are the only vampire hunting attorneys I know.” Phoenix replied. “(So Bernard too is an attorney.)

“I also thought that tales of Belmont's were just stories... and then you appeared. My mind went simply blank when you told that you were a vampire hunter... not only that but related to Belmonts via Schneider-line!” Maya said. “(Schneider-line?... But that means!... Of course! why I didn't connect the dots sooner?!)

(So those families are related.)” Franziska thought.

“Aah! Something flying is coming at us!” Pearl yelled.

(It seems like flying group of... Evidence?!)” Phoenix thought. “Poltergeisted evidence... watch out!”

(Poltergeist?!.. I guess that explains it.)” Franziska thought.

Random pieces of evidence started flying around. One flew straight toward Phoenix who raised his sword to parry the blow.

(Wasn't that... the Thinker?!)” Phoenix thought. “This time it was me who almost got hit by that statue.”

“Watch out Franny-Annie, The Spear!” Maya yelled.

Franziska reacted just in time and hit the approaching weapon with force... eliminating the poltergeist effect.

“Mystic Maya... isn't that Silver Samurai's spear?” Pearl Asked.

Maya got an idea. “Yes it is... And now I'm going to use it!” She replied grinning.

(What the heck is going on... it seems we are attacked by evidence of my past cases!)” Phoenix thought. “Maya... that's the gun Von Karma used in DL-6, knock it down before it fires!”

“Got it Nick!” Maya said and stabbed the gun making it drop to the floor.

Franziska was surrounded by three knives who tried eagerly to stab her.

“Darke's knife, knife Lana Skye used and the knife from Kurain case!” Franziska yelled. She spun around taking the knives down before they could do anything. “(I have to admit her whip skills are impressive... I might have some use of them myself... What am I thinking about... I'm a prosecutor not a vampire hunter...)

“Hey who shut the lights? I'm seeing bananas!” Phoenix yelled. “(That reminds me of something.)

“You are not seeing bananas Nick... It's that yellow baseball glove on your face!” Maya said.

“Get off me!” Phoenix yelled and grabbed the base ball glove which seemed to have a mind of its own. It attacked Franziska blinding her view.

“What the heck... get that Goddamn thing off me!” She yelled.

She felt something poking her face when something hit it or would have if the glove hadn't been in the way.

“What was that?” Franziska wondered and then looked forward seeing a several skeletons with a bone in hand. “Great... more boneheads!” She ran towards the skeletons “I grind you into dust!”

“The glove is down at least.” Phoenix replied. “Whoa... some heavy duty trouble incoming... Max's bust!” He yelled. “(That thing is going to hurt if it hits!)

The bust in question flew towards Franziska from back.

“Franziska... DUCK!” Phoenix yelled.

She did just that and the bust passed over her ending up smashing some of the skeletons ahead.

“Phew!... Thanks Nick... It almost got me.” Franziska replied. “(It would have killed you...)

Another evidence attacked Franziska. It was orange colored whip which lashed at her back. She whirled around and at just that moment the whip began to wrap around her throat.

“W-what... *gack*...” Franziska was having difficulties to breath. “(What the hell... That's MY whip... and it is strangling me... I mean her!)

“Nick... May..a *gack* HeeEeellp!” She yelled as hard as she could.

“Nick... Franny-Annie's is in trouble!” Maya yelled.

Phoenix immediately ran towards Franziska and noticed the whip strangling her.

(T-that's Von Karma's whip!)” He thought. “I don't remember having any whips as evidence.” He said and proceeded to cut the whip into pieces.
Whip released it's grip and fell down to the floor.

“*gasp* ... That's second time between a short interval.” Franziska said and looked to the floor. “But what is this whip?... I don't remember nothing about it being an evidence in some case...” She wondered. “(IT IS MY WHIP!!)”

“It seems more to be suited for whipping something else... Maybe somebody has used this to whip someone.” Phoenix said. “(Bullseye right there!)

Group proceeded forward and they saw a green sign.

“That has to be one of the emergency exits!” Maya said.

“What is bothering you Ms. Franziska?” Pearl asked.

“That whip... for some reason it felt familiar.” Franziska said. “(Of course... as it is mine!)

“I just wondered if you had faced the most worst scenario and ended up being raised by Von Karma, you might have become a whipping prosecutor.” Phoenix said. “(... What the?!)"

Franziska grinched. “Don't even think of something like that, it would have been horrible!... I'm very happy that my parents survived that attack.” She said. “(...What did he just say?!)

“Hm? It became quiet all of a sudden... I guess the danger is over.” Maya said. “(That what Nick said...)

After a little more walking the four arrived to a door.

“There's the exit now lets just open it and let's get out of here.” Phoenix said.

Maya opened the door and almost blinding light was shining from the doorway. “(What is that?)” She thought.

“Let's go... I've had enough of this place.” Franziska said and the four entered into the light.

I'm back after a pretty long hiatus and so is the story... Nope I haven't forgotten it. There's no way I could forget this!

And now the day after, in other world back to reality.

VII: Vanished without a trace

Franziska von Karma's Apartment, 6:58 AM

Franziska jumped up sitting in bed her heart pounding. She looked at her surroundings and realized where she was.

”I'm safe...” She sighed in relief... just then alarm clock sounded that it was 7 AM. Franziska almost immediately shut it down.

”What a dream...” She said and got up and made the bed and dressed up.

Franziska walked into kitchen checked the water in the heater and clicked the switch and then sat down at the table. ”Why did I saw that dream in the first place?” She wondered. ”It... felt so... real, not to mention... weird.”

Water made bubbling sounds telling that it was hot.

”Last night... the red moon and all of a sudden I'm seeing a weird dream like that... Either it gave me very strong impression or something... is wrong.”

”Franziska Schneider, Phoenix Wright, Maya Fey and Pearl Fey... My imagination really acted up all of a sudden. There was that black haired man Genya Arikado who turned out to be... a half-vampire of all things and not only that, but a son of Dracula!” Franziska reflected. She made some bread for herself and took a tea bag from cabinet and put it in the cup pouring hot water on it. ”That red moon last night really must have left an impression on me.”

Franziska took the sandwich plate and cup of tea, set them up on the table and sat down. ”Over 200 years old case... It wouldn't be possible in real life, Graham Reaper the Prosecutor of Death... turned out to be exactly that... not to mention the two 'witnesses' Orlox the vampire and Suzy Cutebush the succubus. Thelma and Bernard Schneider... Franziska Schneider's parents... And Ingrid was in there too.”

She started mixing the tea with spoon. ”But I wasn't there... It must have been an alternate reality of some sort... Where Franziska von Karma doesn't exist.” Franziska took a bite from her sandwich. ”This Franziska was a defense attorney but in addition to that... she was a vampire hunter like her father Bernard and presumably her mother Thelma was one too... and she was also some kind of... witch or mage or... something. Not to mention the girl herself wielded some great powers.”
Franziska sipped her tea. ”But... that was too much that Phoenix Wright was also a hunter!... Did my mind really made all that up all of a sudden?”

After eating she put the dishes in the kitchen sink and was preparing to leave. ”Almost 7:30... Time to go.” Franziska said. She was about to leave when she noticed that something was missing. ”Oh!... I almost forgot my... whip!... That would have been the first.”
Franziska returned to the bedroom where her orange colored whip was still resting on the night stand. She took hold of it, but for some reason she picked it up more slowly. ”It's my whip, the very same which was strangling Franziska Schneider...” Some of the moves returned to Franziska's mind. ”You don't need such movements... But then again, they seemed very impressive... Why not?”

Franziska looked her reflection in the mirror and craned her neck, that is when she noticed something unusual.
”What the...?” She looked closer. ”These weren't there when I went to bed... I haven't worn anything around my throat and I wouldn't wrap anything as tightly if I were to strangle...?!”

Franziska felt shivers in her spine. ”No... no way... It was dream... JUST A DREAM!” She looked at her whip to compare it to the marks around her throat ”Width and shape matches...” She swallowed. ”Did I try to strangle myself while asleep?... That wouldn't make sense.”

She opened the door of the apartment and stepped out to the stairwell. Locking the door behind her back and so began a new day at work..

”I don't like this...”

Wright & Co. Law Offices, 8:00 AM

Phoenix Wright, the spiky haired Ace Attorney had just woken up... after all there wasn't any cases so he was able to take things more easily.

”Now... that had to be one of the weirdest dreams I have ever seen...” He said while making breakfast, coffee was already brewing and its aroma floated around the kitchen. Then a tune began to play, it came from his pocket. It was Phoenix's cellphone.

He took the phone out and saw who was calling.

”Edgeworth... this early?” He said and replied the call. ”Hello?”

”Wright... come to police station at once, something urgent has come up.” Edgeworth said.

”What is going on?” Phoenix asked.

”It is about Larry. It is better that you come here before I begin to explain.” Edgeworth replied.

”All right, I'm having breakfast right now, I'll be there after I have eaten.” Phoenix said.

”Very well Wright, sooner the better.” Edgeworth said and ended the call.

”Hmm... What could be wrong...” Phoenix wondered.

15 minutes later he heard a knock on the door.

”Nick, open up! It's me!” Familiar voice greeted him.

Phoenix opened the door and in walked Maya Fey.

”Morning Nick... What's wrong?”

”Something about Larry... Edgeworth called me a while ago, we better get to the station.” Phoenix replied.

”Okay, let's get going then.” Maya said.

Phoenix wondered whether to take a coat along but decided not to as it was warm day and according forecast it would get even warmer during the day.
The two walked to the street and Phoenix called a taxi.

”Where to Mr. Wright?” Driver was familiar to them.

”To the precinct.” Phoenix replied.

”Okay, hop in.” Driver said and they were off.

Police Station, 8:50 AM.

Station was quite busy when Phoenix and Maya entered they started to look around when they heard a familiar voice.

”Hey, Pals.”

”Morning Detective Gumshoe.” Maya greeted.

”Is Edgeworth around?” Phoenix asked.

”Yup, pal in the evidence room. I'll take you to him.” Gumshoe replied.

Gumshoe lead them to the evidence room.

Evidence Room, 9:00 AM

Soon they spotted a familiar grey hair and cravatte. He was clearly in thoughts and walked around a scaffold with a painting on it.

”You were quick.” Edgeworth commented.

”You did say this was urgent and besides I didn't have anything else for the day.” Phoenix said. ”So... what about Larry?”

”To put it bluntly he's disappeared.”

”... Disappeared?”

”Disappeared as in vanished without a trace.”

”What happened exactly?”

Edgeworth began to explain. ”Larry's girlfriend Claire Discus tried to call him after midnight when he didn't call as they had agreed to in case it would take him longer to complete the painting. Larry didn't reply and Ms. Discus called police. Detective Gumshoe went to Gourd Lake where Larry was painting to check out the situation. He found Larry's cellphone on the grass, scaffolding, paints and completed painting but the man himself was nowhere to be found.”

”Doesn't seem like Larry to do something like that... When it comes to art, he isn't that careless.”

”It would be foolish to leave his tools just lying around, they are worth something after all.” Another voice joined the crowd as Franziska walked in. ”Anything new?”

”No, police checked and double checked lake and it's vicinity... nothing.” Edgeworth replied.

”Hmm... Why would Larry Butz simply discard his... most prized possesions and leave?”

”Good question Franziska...Everything was left behind. It doesn't make sense.” Maya agreed.

”Err... What are you doing here?” Phoenix asked.

”Good morning to you too Mr. Phoenix Wright.” Franziska said. ”Miles called me soon after he called you and asked me for help in something which police is incompetent to figure out.”

”Oh, all right.”

”Hey... did you see that lunar eclipse last night? Maya asked while looking at Larry's moon scenery painting. ”It was quite a sight.”

”Yes... It even began to look like moon was burning at one point.” Edgeworth said.

”Yeah... but there shoudn't have been any lunar eclipses yesterday.” Phoenix said.

”It really was strange... Almost like it wasn't natural.” Franziska said.

”You mean supernatural?” Maya said. ”Hmm...”

”It was a strange.” Phoenix said.

”Could we get back to business at hand?” Edgeworth said.

Franziska decided to take closer look at the painting.

”The way Mr. Butz painted the moon is impressive.” She said. ”There is something... wrong here.” Her trained eyes noticed some other streaks that didn't look like paint. She decided to smell it and true enough light irony smell reached her nostrils.

”What is it?” Edgeworth asked.

”... On the moon... this isn't just paint... Blood red moon.”

Instantly Phoenix picked up a spray bottle and put on special glasses. ”Franziska step back... I'm going to spray it a little bit.”

She stepped back and let Phoenix closer who sprayed little bit luminol on the painting specifically on the moon.

”Yes... streaks are visible the moon has blood on it.”

”W-what?” Maya said. ”Red moon painted in blood...” She swallowed.

Franziska took the glasses. ”Blood mixed with paint?... Morbid.”

”No... that isn't like Larry at all.” Phoenix said.

Next Maya took the glasses. ”Err... those streaks of blood they actually form something.” She watched the bloodstreaks forming eyes, something that could be nose and open mouth with fangs. Maya paled.

”Maya... what's wrong?” Phoenix asked worried.

”T-there's a vampire's face brushed on the moon.”

”Huh?” Franziska said and took the glasses again and now noticed the face herself. ”Creepy...” She simply said. Her heart had just picked up in beat she exited the room.

Franziska ran to ladies room and leaned towards the wall... Everything from last night was coming back to her with a rush.

”Calm down... Blood red moon, a sign... How could Larry Butz paint something like that?! Vampire face stroked with blood... What kind of sick joke is this?... Calm down Franziska... They are NOT real... Monsters like that are nothing more than fairytales.” Feeling calm enough Franziska left the ladies room and she immediately bumped into detective Gumshoe.

”Watch where you are going fool!” She snapped.

”I'm sorry Ms. Von Karma... I just wanted to report that we have an eyewitness in Harry Butz's case.

”It's Larry Butz, detective. Is she being interrogated by the police?”

”No, she downright refused it, pal. She demanded to speak only with Wright and Mr. Edgeworth something about unusual... no that wasn't how she put it. I think she said more like... freaky events.”

”Freaky events?... Where is she?”

”In interrogation room#4 sir.”

”Hmm... I'll inform them, you may go detective.”

Detective nodded and walked away.

”No doubt this gets interesting.” Franziska muttered and walked back to the evidence room where couple people she didn't recognize just left the room.

”Who were those?”

”Guys at the forensics, they took sample of that dried blood for DNA-sample extraction. We'll find out to whom that blood belongs.” Edgeworth said.

”I met detective Gumshoe on the way back. An eyewitness is waiting for us in interrogation room #4.”

”There is someone who saw what happened?” Phoenix asked.

”We will get bottom of this immediately.” Edgeworth said and left the room others in tow.

Soon the four reached the door to interrogation room. There they were in for a surprise as no one had told them the identity of the person who saw everything.

VIII: Lotta's Horrible Night

Interrogation Room #4, 9:40 AM

They saw familiar brunette woman with big afro already seated in the table.

“Oh, I only called for Mr. Wright and Edgeworth.” She said.

“Lotta Hart?!” Phoenix said.

“Yeah it's me so... can we like begin this or somethin'?” Lotta seemed to be a little nervous.

“Now... you refused to tell anything to the police as these events that took place were somewhat freaky, right?” Franziska asked.

“Yep... Police wouldn't believe me anyway. I thought that Mr. Butz's friends might be more open...” Lotta glanced at Franziska. ”What is she doing here?”

“Franziska is involved in investigation so you can speak freely Ms. Hart.” Phoenix said.

“Oh all right, where to begin.” Lotta fidgeted nervously. ”Oh, right I have to show you something.” She opened her bag and took out several photos. “Here.” She laid them on the table for the four to see.

“Hmm... Are these shots from the Gourde Lake?” Edgeworth asked.

“Yup, they are an' the man there is none other than now missing Mr. Butz.”

“What were you doing at the Gourde Lake last night Ms. Hart?”

“I was practicin' nighttime photography... and ended up returning to supernatural photography.”

“Supernatural?... What you mean by that?” Franziska asked.

“A-ah'll explain when we get that far.” Lotta replied nervously.

“Larry is painting, he sees something, stands up, took couple of steps.” Phoenix muttered while browsing the shots. ”HOLD IT! That isn't possible...” He pointed the picture were Larry was in a very obscene pose.

“It's impossible for a human to be in that kind of pose.” Franziska stated.

“How did Larry manage do that?” Edgeworth wondered.

“He didn't...” Lotta said.

“Funny... to me it looks like he is held by some... invisible force.” Maya said.

“You got that right Miss Fey... Yes, invisible to the camera, but not to plain eyes.” Lotta said.
“See, there should be a girl in these pictures... at least starting from there where Butz turns his head.”

“A Girl?” Phoenix asked curiously.

“Yup, a very pretty thing accordin' to what I noticed from Butz's reaction.”

“Hmph... So Larry did run away with a girl after all.” Edgeworth said.

“Hold yer horses Mr. Prosecutor... It ain't that simple although I didn't dare to wait and see whether he went voluntarily or not... I guess he did and he didn't...”

“A Girl invisible to camera, visible to eye but no reflection...” Maya said and went pale again.

“Ah... I think you got it Miss Fey.” Lotta said.

“No... no way...”

Franziska felt shiver in her spine. ”(That's nothing but a foolish hunch.)”

“Fey... Maya, unfortunately answer is yes... As s-she almost g-got me too...” Lotta said voice little shaky.

“What? What do you mean she almost got you too?! Answer me NOW!”

“Hey, hey I tell you when I get there!”

“... Is something wrong Franziska?” Edgeworth asked suspiciously.

“I am just fine Miles!” She yelled.

Phoenix was eyeing both Maya and Franziska with suspicion. ”Maya, do you know something?”

“No.. well yes, ... Signs match but... it can't be!” She replied.

Phoenix looked none wiser.

Franziska snapped. ”Are you slow this morning Mr. Phoenix Wright, don't you get it?! Girl with no reflection, she wouldn't have a mirror image. Pale face who doesn't stand sunlight, fangs in mouth... A vampire you foolish foo!...” She slapped her hand on her mouth silencing herself immediately.

”... A Vampire?... Ridiculous!” Edgeworth stated.

“Franziska?...” Maya asked.

“I-I was stating to this spikehaired fool what you were after Fey that's all!”

“I guess this is less trouble than I thought... Yeah a vampire girl attacked Larry Butz last night and took him away, heard me and almost got me too!” Lotta said very bluntly.

“A-are you serious?” Phoenix asked.

“Cross my heart an' all that... I ain't lyin'.”

Franziska looked at the obscene pose photo. ”You mean, in this picture the... vampire is holding Larry Butz?”

“Yup, that's when she bit him.”

“Do you have evidence to prove this?” Edgeworth asked.

“What about the blood in Larry's painting?” Phoenix countered.

“... Good point.” Franziska muttered.

“What, what blood... Wait you mean the moon right?” Lotta asked.

“How did you know?” Phoenix asked.

”I heard some of their conversation... the girl said something about giving the blood red moon a proper shade with his own blood...”

“So it is Larry's blood and DNA-test will likely confirm it.”

“About the evidence. This time I'm ahead of you... Here are the enlarged shot's of Mr. Butz which I made.” Lotta laid down a new set of pictures.

“Does Larry Butz use drugs?” Franziska asked while examining one of the new pictures.

“WHAT?!... No of course not, why?” Phoenix said.

“Then... I don't know what this is... He looks to be out in this one.” It was a zoomed in picture direct frontal shot of Larry who had glazed out there look on his face.

“Lotta, did Larry behave somehow weirdly at that time?” Maya asked.

“Yeah, the moment he looked at her, Butz was acting like he was in trance.” She replied.

“Hypnotic powers.”

“This is hard to believe... but it seems to make sense.” Phoenix said, he was sweating a bit.

”I'm still not buying this.” Edgeworth said. ”Franziska what is your opinion?”

Franziska fidgeted a bit, but said nothing.

“Alright I have one more shot, enlargement of enlargement the picture from the attack with Butz's head only visible.” Lotta said and laid down one more picture. ”Look at his neck.”

“Two marks... a bite!” Maya said.

“Yup... an' how they just appeared there all of a sudden?” Lotta inquired.

“Oh my... God.” Franziska said. ”Ms. Hart, what happened after that?”

“She didn't kill Mr. Butz, but I didn't want to be there any longer than necessary an' I had seen more than enough and decided get the 'ell out of there and back to mah car as quickly as possible. I was already retreating when I accidentally stepped on a twig which snapped, an' of course she had to hear it...”

“Vampires have sentitive hearing...” Maya said.

“She wondered who was there and demanded me to show myself... Which I didn't do obviously. Nobody sane would reveal themselves to a vampire. I began hurry back faster, thing I didn't notice was the bat flying overhead myself... Soon that girl was in front of me. I was scared for my life. The vampire taunted me an' was about to strike when three balls o' fire struck her.

“Was there someone else?!” Phoenix asked excitedly.

“Yup, a pretty darn good lookin' black haired guy appeared with a sword in his hand. He told the vampire to back off... which she did and took off by changing into a bat again.”

“Man with black hair...” Phoenix said scratching his chin.

“We talked for a bit... and I reckon he was some sort of vampire hunter although he said he wasn't. I thanked him for saving my life and told he me to leave in case the girl would return. I then asked if he needed a ride and I took him to where the man was stayin'.”

“This man... did he introduce himself?” Franziska asked.

“Yup, told his name was Arikado.”

“WHAT?!” Was heard simultaneously from three mouths namely Phoenix, Franziska and Maya. Followed by ”HOLD IT!” from Franziska and Phoenix who were pointing each other.

“Mr. Phoenix Wright... How do you know THAT NAME?!”

“I could ask the same from you.” Phoenix countered.

“You both know him?!” Maya added.

“Fey... What's that supposed to mean?!” Franziska was clearly agitated by this sudden unexpected revelation.

Lotta and Edgeworth were dumbfounded.

“What was that about?” Lotta wondered.

“Damned if I know.” Edgeworth replied.

“Hey... I think you have heard what I have to tell you so if I could leave now...”

“HOLD IT!” Phoenix said. ”Lotta, one more thing... Where we can find Mr. Arikado if we need contact him?”

“Oh yeah... He's stayin' at the new Gatewater Hotel, y'know the one where the Corrida and Engarde thing took place.”
“Alright, thank you for your testimony about the incident Ms. Hart, you can leave.” Edgeworth said.

“... This won't be goin' official police records I reckon?”

“They would think we were crazy If we did that.” Phoenix said.

“That's what I thought too, well see ya.” Lotta waved and left the interrogation room.

Silence followed. Maya, Phoenix and Franziska were exchanging looks.

“So... What was that about?” Edgeworth broke the silence. ”Do you know this man?”

“No... not actually, I know the name though...” Phoenix said.

“That's funny I do too...” Maya said.

“I thought I was the only one who knew that name.” Franziska said.

“And why would that be?” Edgeworth inquired.

“(And here we are... spit it out already!)” Franziska sighed. ”I know that name, because man with the same name was in my dream last night.”

“A dream...? Might have been some dream.”

“It really was, a trial... sudden turn of events and then the battle in the court... Ouch!, Franziska!”
Phoenix was halted with a whip lash.

Maya was also staring at him.

“Court... Trial... Battle of life and death?!” Franziska asked.

“Yeah sounds similar... We barely escaped Death... literally.” Maya said.

“Prosecutor was pretty bad..” Phoenix said.

“Don't tell me that we have seen the exactly same dream last night!” Franziska said. ”Pretty bad? He was creepy! An old man who wielded a Goddamn huge scythe in a court room, and he brought over my head several times during that trial!”

“Graham Reaper the so-called Prosecutor of Death... who in the end turned exactly that.” Phoenix added. ”Yeah... It has to be the same dream.”

“Yeah... there isn't any other possibility.” Maya said. ”It was strange I was there seeing things from my own point of view but Maya Fey there wasn't me.”

“Same for me I was there too in pretty much same position wondering what the heck was going on there.” Phoenix continued. ”But I didn't see Franziska there.”

“Fool!... I wasn't there as myself I was that blond girl, Franziska Annabell Schneider... And I was just as clueless as you two.”
“Umm... Well actually I know things, but seeing a dream like that was incredible. I thought that maybe my secret interest finally found their way into dreams but...” Maya said.

“Ahha!... So you know something Fey!”

“Yeah I'm a samurai fan but I'm secretly also a fan on vampire stories, legends, vampire hunters and like.”

“So it was your doing!”

“Franziska, I am a spirit medium that's all. I have no power to alter or affect anyones dreams.”

“What was it then?” Edgeworth asked. ”Sounds very unsual.”

“I concluded that it is some kind of alternate reality thing... as I wasn't there and she was and you never encountered me and so on.” Franziska said.

“Sounds sensible to me...” Phoenix agreed.

“Yeah I guess...” Maya said.

“So there was a court case in the dream, can you tell me about it?” Edgeworth asked.

“Well... It was pretty crazy Edgey... Turned out that Genya Arikado was in fact Dracula's son and he was prosecuted for his father's murder.” Phoenix said.

“Not only that but the case was over 200 years old.” Franziska added.

“That case was way over expired, it wouldn't be possible.” Edgeworth said.

“Yes, Franny-Annie objected that, but was countered by Reaper.” Phoenix said.

“You were defending vampire for a murder of vampire?... No that wouldn't fit in our jurisdiction in any way.” Edgeworth said.

“That's what I said too... expect that Alucard is half-vampire, not a full one.”

“Phoenix means Arikado... Alucard is... was...his nickname or something.” Franziska said. ”Why the heck you are speaking in present time expression? He was in the dream... he isn't in.”

“OBJECTION! You don't know that Franziska so don't make any assumptions.”

“OBJECTION! And neither do you, fool!” Franziska countered ”And how do you think he might be?”

“I can answer to that Franziska... Lotta told that three fireballs struck the vampire girl before Alu... Arikado appeared... They sound like spell known as Hellfire, which is Dracula's trademark attack and one that Alucard has mastered as well...” Maya replied.

“But you said that they are legends yourself!”

“Maybe... they might a have base in reality, after all Lotta witnessed vampire attack and was nearly attacked herself.” Phoenix said.

“This will stay between us for now... Police would take none of it.” Edgeworth said.

“True and we need more information and hopefully we can get it from the source.” Phoenix said and looked at his watch. ”How about visiting Mr. Arikado after lunch?”

Location Unknown, Time: meaningless

Torches were illuminating a place that seemed to a throne room and on the throne someone was sitting hidden by shadows.

Steps we heard when figure with black beard wearing cape and basker walked towards the throne.

Person sitting noticed this a began to speak.

“Lawrence, you answered my summons.” Said clearly female voice from the throne.

Man in question bowed. ”Of course milady... What do you desire from me?”

She took a sip from a glass which had red substance in it. “How is our project proceeding?”

“Very well countess.. Thanks to the wonderful studio you have given me I feel inspiration simply coursing through... First painting is almost complete, it should be ready by tomorrow.

“Mmm... you are progressing much better than I anticipated Lawrence, I certainly made the right decision with you.”

“Thank you milady.”

“By the way, are you... hungry?”

“Yes, but I can manage it.”

“Don't worry we will be going dining tonight after sundown afterwards I will be taking care of my another errand... You may leave now Lawrence, return to your studio. I will summon for you again when it is time to leave.”

Lawrence bowed and turned around leaving the throne room.

IX: Fated Meeting

Gatewater Hotel, Lobby, 12:50 PM

After lunch Maya, Phoenix, Miles and Franziska headed to Gatewater Hotel, they were now at the hotel lobby.

“Place hasn't changed much since we were here the last time.” Phoenix noted.

“Can I help you?” Asked lady in the reception.

“Yes, umm. Is Mr. Genya Arikado staying here?” Maya replied.

“Let me check... Arikado... Oh yes, he is staying in the room #12... Stairs up and to the right.”

“Thanks.” Maya said and the group walked to the stairs and started climbing.

Gatewater Hotel, 2nd Floor, 1:10 PM

They reached the corridor with Arikado's room.

”Alright, who is going to...” Phoenix started, Maya stepped forward and knocked the door. ”...Never mind.”

“Come in, it's open.” They heard man's voice from the room.

“I recognize that voice.” Phoenix said.

“Is he inviting us in just like that, without knowing who is behind the door?” Edgeworth wondered.
Franziska opened the door and there was a man sitting on a couch, with long hair in a ponytail wearing stylish black suit.

“Same voice and the same looks.” Franziska whispered.

Gatewater Hotel, Genya Arikado's room, 1:15 PM

Arikado extended his hand. ”I am Genya Arikado, president of Bat Company Inc.”

They shook hands.

“Err...Phoenix Wright, defense attorney.” He was a bit nervous.

“Miles Edgeworth, local Hi-Prosecutor.”

“Um... Franziska von Karma, prosecutor as well.” Franziska was also little shaken.

“M-Maya Fey, Ni... I mean Phoenix's assistant in Wright & Co Law Offices.” Maya wasn't any better.

“Please... sit down.” Arikado said.

After everyone had found their seats, Arikado spoke again. “Now, how can I help you?” He asked.
“We heard... that you might have saved young womans life last night at the Gourde Lake.” Edgeworth opened the discussion.

Arikado looked at them calmly. “Ms. Hart went to the police?”

“She came to precinct but refused to tell one word about what had happened to the officers. She demanded to see myself and Edgeworth... because the things were a little * ahem* too freaky.” Phoenix said.

Arikado seemed to ponder something. “You mean she came to you to report that she was attacked... Is she a friend of yours?”

“Lets say... Someone who we know quite well... We have met her in several circumstances.” Phoenix replied.

“She came to report to precinct because of incident that took place last night. Lotta Hart was the only eyewitness for recent mysterious disappearance of Larry Butz who was painting at the time in the Gourde Lake as well.” Franziska explained.

“Larry is our friend... My and Edgey's that is.” Phoenix said.

“Although he is better known with his artist name, Laurice Deauxnim.” Maya added.

“Ah... that sounds familiar.” Arikado said. ”Yes, it was on the news.”

“... It was?” Phoenix asked.

“Yes, in the morning news.” Edgeworth replied.

“Then how were you in the precinct that early?”

“I decided to make an early start... I've been at Prosecutor's Office since 7 AM.”

“Oh... and I woke up at 8 AM, didn't turn the TV on... Right, so i missed it.”

“I caught you by phone so no harm done there.”

“Are you two done? We are getting sidetracked.” Franziska said.

“You mean that the thing I confronted in the forest didn't only threatened Ms. Hart, but had already attacked someone else?” Arikado asked.

“Yes, that's right.” Maya replied. ”Lotta took some pictures of the attack, but obviously only Larry is in there.” Nothing happened and everyone were looking at Phoenix.

“What?...” He asked.

“Wright, did you forget that you have the pictures?” Edgeworth asked with his arms crossed.

“Ah!.. right, sorry.” Phoenix opened his case and took out the said photos and laid them on a nearbly table for Arikado to see.

He began browsing the photos. “Hmm... interesting shots to say the least... Hmm, how is that possible?.. Ah, yes bite marks... That clears everything.” Arikado looked at the others present.

“There seems to be something wrong in this picture... It seems that Mr. Butz is held in air by some invisible force...”

“Which has no reflection that also can't be photographed.” Maya said.

“So you do know what this is about?” Arikado asked.

“Yes, as incredible as it sounded Mr. Arikado.” Phoenix replied. “It seems to be only sensible conclusion.”

“Thus, a vampire has appeared in Los Angeles.”

“Mr. Arikado, what is going on exactly?” Franziska asked. “It would be foolish to assume that plain corporation president would know about such matters.”

“You are correct Miss...S...Von Karma.” Arikado replied. “I also belong to a secret intelligence organization which monitors and combats against supernatural threats... We have been tracking the movements of powerful vampire who seems to have emerged here in America all of a sudden. Only matter we currently know about it is gender, which is female. Yesterday was the very first time any of us had a contact or confrontation with her.”

“Incidents like these have happened before... Then why there hasn't been any reports on mysterious murders?” Phoenix asked. “Vampires do drink blood right?”

“Wright, I think that you are taking this way too seriously.” Edgeworth said.

“Little brother, I think it has been already decided that a vampire is only sensible explanation.” Franziska said.

“I'm sorry, but a vampire is hardy a sensible explanation usually.”

“I don't know about you Edgey, but this doesn't seem usual to me.” Phoenix interjected.

“...You are right about that, Wright.”

“Why anything hasn't been reported... Because that is what isn't considered worthwhile to report. Nobody isn't interested when homeless die. This has been her strategy in feeding and not leaving tracks.” Arikado explained.

“So, she has fed on outcasts of society... Those who nobody seem to care.” Franziska said.

“Horrible...” Maya said.

“Second reason is her ability to move from one city to another in a days time. Meaning the vampire has been practically jumping from city to city making it challenging to track her movements.”

“How on earth that is possible?!” Phoenix exclaimed.
“Teleportation of some sorts, I bet.” Maya said.

“You are right Ms. Fey, but there is one problem. After the vampire has attacked she disappears somewhere and appears next day at completely other location.” Arikado replied.

“Meaning... the vampire itself vanishes without traces?” Edgeworth asked.

“Talk about troublesome bloodsucker.” Phoenix said.

“Mr. Arikado, how long this has been going on... When did this vampire appear?” Franziska asked.

“We first... noticed some activity starting at the end of February this year, so she has been around for three months.”

“But according to what you told us, since this time she only attacked pretty much nobodies, but last night she attacked a known person... Seems a little strange to me.” Phoenix said scratching his hair.

“True, the vampire has changed her strategy. Only she didn't attack a known person, but she also took that person away and not kill him.”

Franziska craned her neck. “I know something about vampires, after all I read a lot and not just law books all the time... Wouldn't that mean if Larry Butz was bitten he would transform into a vampire as well?”

“HOLD IT!” Phoenix yelled. He had seen something suspicious.

“Don't interrupt me fool!” Franziska snapped her whip.

“Where did you get those?”

“What do you mean Mr. Phoenix Wright?”

“Those marks around your throat.”

“Urk!... You saw them?” Franziska asked taken aback. “... They are nothing.”

“What marks?” Edgeworth joined in.

Arikado seemed curious as well as Maya.

“I said they are nothing!” Franziska said trying to cover herself, but Edgeworth stepped forward.

“Franziska, show me.” He demanded.

“Fool, they are... *sigh* FINE!” Franziska grumbled and bent her head back.

“What is this?... Has someone strangled you?”

”Of course not!”

“Have you worn a scarf wrapped around too tightly?”

“A scarf... Miles, it's June you fool!”

“Hmm... It looks like the marks are identical to your own whip...*gulp*”

“Wright, do you know something?” Edgeworth asked.

“Maybe... if those marks appeared over night!” Phoenix replied.

“Hmm... But how?” Maya wondered.

“OBJECTION!” Franziska yelled. “Phoenix Wright, Maya Fey! Get those foolish ideas out of your heads right now! What you are implying is impossible! Dreams cannot affect reality!”

“You are right... ” Maya was thinking. “No! Franziska, you are wrong!”

“What? Foolish nonsense!”

“It is possible because of Suzy Cutebush, she was succubus after all... And succubi are demons who can haunt you through dreams.”

“They are not real!” Franziska protested.

“Then it is same for the vampire too!” Phoenix countered. “Besides if Maya is right you could have even died. If you remember one particular bust...”

“Died?!” Edgeworth exclaimed.

At this point Arikado raised his eyebrows. “You have been attacked by a succubus?” He asked curiously.

“In a way... I guess.” Maya shrugged.

“Hmm... Perhaps we should discuss that matter after we are done with this...”

“Did you see her face last night, Alucard?” Maya asked. “Umm... sorry I.”

“No need for apologies, Maya. You seem to be knowledgeable about these matters.”

“So... you really are Alucard, the son of... Dracula?!” Phoenix asked.

“Yes, I am.” Arikado replied. “No, unfortunately I didn't see her and she was wearing a hood... She wasn't any one we know about. We originally suspected that either Elizabeth or Camilla had found a means to return, but last night clearly confirmed that we are dealing with a new and powerful vampire lady. Easily someone who according to her powers, is not to be trifled with.”

“Who are those ladies?” Edgeworth asked.

“Elizabeth Bartley, my fathers cousin if I recall correctly. She was causing trouble during the first World War and Lady Camilla... is one of my father's followers. She has caused trouble several times in the past.”

“Lotta mentioned three fireballs... It was Hellfire, wasn't it? Which you used to distract the vampire!" Maya was excited now.
“She mentioned it?”

“Three 'balls o'fire' flying out suddenly leaves an impression to anyone.” Phoenix said.

“I see... When I'm in public I usually rely on my sword in confrontations and use magic only when absolutely necessary."

“Could you show me something?” Maya asked eyes sparkling.

“Maya!... I don't think.” Phoenix said but Edgeworth stopped him.

“Not a bad idea Fey, he could at the same time prove that he is who he is.”

“Not... a bad idea at all.” Franziska agreed.

“When you put it that way... Yeah.” Phoenix agreed as well.

“I suppose, but nothing big. I think Maya knows what I'm capable of...”

“Nothing which could damage anything. Hey... how about your transformations?” Maya suggested.

“... Transformations?” Edgeworth asked.

“Vampire classics I think... the forms of bat, mist and wolf?” Phoenix said.

Franziska twitched when she heard the word, bat.

“Maya, close the curtains if you please.” Arikado seemed to have decided.

Maya ran to the window a pulled the curtains closed, she stopped for a short while.

“What is it?” Phoenix asked.

"I think... I saw something disappearing around the corner... lashing tail or something like that." Maya replied bit uncertainly

Arikado seemed concerned for some reason. “So... they already know, time is shorter than I originally thought...” He looked at his audience. Arikado stood up and spread his arms, suddenly he began to shrink and change form. Everyone were in awe. Soon where Arikado had stood, in his place was a large black bat.

"It is different to see it happen for hear real than just read about it... Wow!" Maya said excitedly.

"Any objections?" Phoenix said looking at Edgeworth who was just staring. He simply shook his head.

Franziska in turn was glaring at the bat.

Arikado started to flap his wings and took flight. He made several loops around the room. Then Franziska did something which others didn't except. She suddenly lashed her whip and hit bulls eye. Bat fell to the floor with soft thud.

"Franziska, what the hell was that for?!" Phoenix yelled.
"I don't think that was very wise, Franziska." Edgeworth said.
Maya was shocked.

"Adrian Tepes! You have been found guilty on spying, harassing and messing up with my mind last night on the balcony of my very own apartment!" Franziska said with a loud voice.
