So, I decided to randomly write this thing. Because I can.

Also this is pretty much COMPLETELY alternate universe, the characters are animals because I just can't write crap about humans. I have difficulty with that, no offense. Also this is parody of a scene from a certain series, you will win a cookie if you can guess where this comes from. But chances are none of you will get the scene.

Title: 'Til Death Do They Part
Author: Super Judgio (a.k.a me)
Rating: PG-13 (Warnings: Violence and swearing)
Genre: Alternate universe, tragedy and..... action'ish? (in next part)
Status: Complete.
Pairing: None.
Summary:They thought they could live in the wilderness together in peace, until he showed up....
*****

"I will be leaving for a few hours, everyone. Just keep still, I will return."

"Brother, where is Master going?"

""She'll be back, she always will be.

She'll never

forget us."

Then it all stopped, so suddenly. His eyes were still closed tightly, but his senses began to regain consciousness. A small breeze blew against his fur coat, and twitters of birds flying high above could be heard.

"Bruden... wake up!" A cheery voice greeted the sleeping animal.

The sleepy eyes opened and could faintly see the silhouette of a golden animal, standing on all fours. He wore something grey around his neck, a strangely shaped pendent and chains. The world around him was a dark green, shadowed by trees that shaded the two.

Looking again at the animal who was patiently waiting for him to get up, he suddenly realized what had happened.

"..Just a dream...." He thought to himself.

"Come on, wake up." The other said again, giving a brisk lick on the his forehead. That was all it took.

"Stop that, Klavier." Kristoph arose and gently rubbed his head with his paw. Klavier the dog only chuckled to himself.

"I had to wake you up eventually. I've been up for awhile." Klavier sat down and watched the movements of his lookalike brother. "Come, it's time to hunt for food."

"Coming..." Kristoph said and followed his brother. They stepped out of the undergrowth and came upon a small meadow of green grass. The grass was fresh and had the pleasant, undisturbed scent of Springtime. It was late April, and the frequent showers had greatly contributed to the greenery of this unknown land. There were even some new plants sprouting.

And it was sunny, almost blinding the half-awake Kristoph for a second. Was it noon? No one knew, for canines and other animals could never tell the actual time. Though they could sense it, and Kristoph soon knew how long he must have slept. But that didn't matter much to him now, there were more important things to worry about.

"Let's go, I'm really hungry." Klavier said hastily and was just about to run off.

"Wait." Kristoph stopped him. "Let me wake up first..."

Kristoph sat down and looked at all of his surroundings. The land was very plain and empty. Nothing but the plants, the wall of trees that acted like a barrier and themselves. The farther you went from here, the more treeless it would become, and that was the path they took each morning. To fulfill their desire to walk, a dog's instinct.

Klavier was sitting impatiently and occasionally moving his paws around. The sunlight made his golden fur look radiant, much like a coin left in the middle of a sunny and hot desert. Klavier is a purebred Golden Retriever, his shining fur was a common trait of those kinds of canines. His fur wasn't the only thing that was bright, but his glittering chains too.

Course his fur and necklace would be a lot more shiny, if the duo was under the care of humans.

Kristoph came from the same litter as Klavier, and thus is also a purebred Golden Retriever. Although his fur coat didn't shine as brightly as Klavier's, it was also a little matted in some areas. A tangled mess of fur that only got messier and more painful as time went by. Klavier had offered that he could try to scratch or bite the large clump of fur off to ease the pain, but Kristoph refused.

'I can handle it myself..' Kristoph would always say. And Klavier would have no choice but to listen to him, there was really no point in arguing. Kristoph used to also wear something around his neck, a small red ribbon that was given to him.

...By the humans he lived with. The humans that had abandoned his brother, family, friends and himself. Since that fateful day, Kristoph ripped the ribbon off of him and refused to even look at it. So he buried it away.

Long ago, there was a small kennel in a neighborhood far away from here. The kennel's main focus was to breed Golden Retrievers, everything was arranged by a single, middle-aged woman with red hair. Klavier and Kristoph were born and lived there for almost their whole life. Back then Klavier and Kristoph loved humans, the other dogs and especially the woman. And they became her favorites, hence why they were given a chain necklace and a ribbon to wear.

No one ever bothered to adopt either one of the duo, so they stayed with the redheaded woman.

Then all of that changed. The woman had to go somewhere and promised to her dogs that she would return. But she never did. Not for days, weeks or months. The dogs became hungrier and hungrier. Arguments broke up which only lead to injured or killed dogs. All of that stopped when nearly all of the dogs dropped dead, except for Klavier and Kristoph. The sole survivors. In the wire fenced backyard, they piled the dead bodies one by one. It made a ladder of sorts.

Then the two climbed over each body and jumped over the fence, able to make their escape. And that was how they winded up here, never to return. The two never did found out what happened to the woman. Maybe she had died, forgotten them or left them all on purpose. Kristoph believed that she had just deceived them all.

Klavier was different, he believed the woman still loved them... but something had happened to her. That was why he never took off his necklace. Whatever the reason, this was why these stray dogs lived in the wilderness. Providing for themselves, surviving themselves and having nothing but themselves.

"Kristoph, are you done?" Klavier hollered and snapped Kristoph out of his deep thoughts. "I smell quail nearby!"

Kristoph quickly scratched the back of his floppy ear with his hind leg, and stood up. "Wait for me!"

..To be continued?

Okay. I'll be honest here. I don't like double posting of any kind, but I guess I'll just assume it's okay for fan fictions when you want to post a new chapter.

I also understand that this.... fan fiction may not appeal to many members here. I don't blame you, but I just have an easier time writing about animals. Also I'll be uploading this on the Objection! Fan fiction site, this may have a new title.

*********
The two had ran a few yards, the homely overgrowth of trees was now distances
away. Klavier was right, he had smelt signs of a quail nearby. The plump
bird was resting along patches of taller blades of grass, that could tickle
the noses of Klavier and Kristoph and make them accidentally sneeze.

Which was what scared the quail and it quickly flew off, Klavier's fast
paw-work could not catch it in time. And the two Golden Retrievers were
forced to watch it go.

Game was scarce, and for many days the duo had gone hungry. It was not
unusual, this was normal in the wilderness. And Mother Nature expected
them not to complain. But they had for the first days since they escaped
the Kennel, now they knew better. They slowly regained knowledge of their
inner hunting skills.

They were 'returning to nature'. Just as Mother Nature herself always
wanted it to be.

But sitting down and sulking over one lost quail was not enough. They just
had to get up and search again. Maybe this time they'll be successful, or
fail again.

"Maybe we'll have better luck at The Rock." Klavier began and trotted
to the Northwest, Kristoph followed without hesitation.

"The Rock?" Kristoph asked. "There's rarely any game there."

"We did found something there once." Klavier replied with such great
confidence, almost foreseeing that something will be there.

"There is no way that there will be.."

Klavier halted in his tracks. He gazed softly at his brother, not sharply
but it was enough to stop Kristoph. "Live up a little. You never know
what we'll find there."

"This is no fun and games, Klavier. We are out here hunting to survive.
Remember the time you greatly suffered from starvation? I had to give up
my share of the food and give it all to you."

"Well, we're a lot healthier now than we were before. We should enjoy
life while we're living it." Klavier smiled, Kristoph wasn't.

"I do not understand what you're telling me."

"There's a huge river below The Rock. You can hear it from far away. Do
you hear it now?"

Kristoph tilted the side of his head and concentrated. He could hear it,
but only faintly. If a human were to stand here and listen, it would
probably take them a moment to hear where the source of the waters' roaring
came from. But Kristoph had already calculated the source, the ears of
a dog could pinpoint a sound's location more rapidly than a human's ear.

"Yes. I can hear it, it's not too far off from here." Kristoph replied. Before
he had felt annoyance, but the sound of the river had calmed him down a little.

"The river calmed you down, ja?" Klavier chuckled. "I find the sound of
the river, the waterfall and rapids to be soothing. I go to The Rock
to relax."

"There's more important things to do now." Kristoph disagreed.

"We may be more successful in our hunt if we calm down. We're both
still tired, especially you bruden."

"Once he sets his mind on something....." Kristoph sighed, hoping that
his brother wouldn't hear him.

"Fine, you've convinced me. Let us go." Kristoph gave in.

Klavier was grinning. "Follow me." He said and trotted away at a good
pace.

"Wait, I know the way!" Kristoph barked back and followed.

**********

Their paws had left the softness of the short grass, now they were walking
on hard stone. The sound of the river was now the loudest. They had arrived,
this was The Rock.

"I don't smell any game..." Kristoph said.

"We didn't came here to hunt, remember?" Klavier answered and sat down,
not too near the cliff side's edge.

"Oh right. To ease up..." Muttered Kristoph. He sat beside his brother
and closed his eyes.

The two kept silent as mice, only the raging river that lead to a pouring
waterfall below could be heard. It was rather noisy. But as Klavier had
said, the constant sound ringing in their ears... settled them down. Kristoph
felt at a peace of mind.

Would Klavier's suggestion work? Would it ease up his muscles, regain lost
energy and hopefully improve on their next hunt? Kristoph hoped so, he
was getting awfully hungry.

"Isn't it nice?" Klavier broke the silence.

"Yes, it is. It is very calming." Kristoph responded.

"So do I. Especially with you here."

"What?" Kristoph snapped his eyes open. Klavier was smiling at him.

"You don't know? Having someone to share this relaxing experience
makes it all the better, ja?" Klavier answered.

"Ja..." Kristoph muttered.

"Is something wrong?" Klavier asked.

"No. I just had a thought." Kristoph responded. "You're right, knowing that
you're here makes this a more enjoyable time. I've wondered for the longest
while, what I would do if we were ever separated."

"Separation? That'll never happen." Klavier laughed which make Kristoph
feel uneasy. "We were made for each other, where you go I will go."

"I guess..." Kristoph supposed. "...Yes that seems about right, where you
go I will go."

Klavier smiled lovingly and gently leaned forward to nudge Kristoph's head.
When they were just pups, the nudge would often start a small game of
wrestling. It had improved their relationship and strength back then.
Now the nudge was used as a sign of affection, and Kristoph understood
it very well.

**********

"I'm glad to know tha-" Kristoph stopped mid-sentence. Instead his eyes
followed the western direction.

"Kristoph?" Klavier asked. He turned to the same direction and that's when
it hit them.

"I smell..... another dog." Kristoph said and stood up.

"An intruder?" Klavier questioned his brother.

"I'm not sure." Kristoph began and followed the source of the scent
with his nose. Klavier followed closely behind.

Klavier didn't wanted to admit it, but the idea of another dog here
made him a little nervous. For the longest time it was just Kristoph
and himself. He had forgotten what it was like to live around other
canines, what to expect, etc.

Or maybe it was because Klavier only socialized with his brother.

Kristoph's nose had lead them to a couple of dense bushes, nestled along
the cliff sides. They couldn't see their visitor, but they knew that
Kristoph's nose hadn't failed them. A dog was moving in the bushes.

Kristoph took another sniff. "Male." He muttered.

The bushes rustled again and out walked the other canine into clear sight.
Clearly it had heard and smelled the brothers and came out to see what
was amiss.

The newcomer was quite a large dog and had many black markings on his
tan coat. His muzzle, the back of his neck, back and tail were all
black. It could only have been a German Shepherd Dog, and an elderly
one at that. Despite his age, he looked muscular and slightly bulky.

And his eyes were a faded green, that almost seemed to give away his
age and personality if one were to peer at them long enough.

"Who are you?" The other demanded. His voice was loud which made Klavier
a little more nervous.

But it didn't bothered Kristoph one bit. "I'd like to ask you the same thing."

"Your names first."

"Kristoph." Kristoph boldly replied.

"...Klavier." His brother muttered.

"And my name is Damon." The newcomer said in a formal manner. "Some call me
Gant."

"But enough introductions. Why are you here?" Damon asked.

"We wondered that ourselves. This is our territory." Kristoph responded.

"I believe you are mistaken." Retorted Damon. "I came upon this land and
set my paw on it, seeing that there were no packs around... I figured I
would claim this as my own."

Klavier took a few steps forward. "And you haven't smelled our scent?
We spray this land, our territory, frequently." He replied.

"Oh I did smelled that. But there's not a lot of you." Damon was overly
confident in himself. "I have nothing to worry."

"What do you mean by that?" Kristoph asked him. "Do you believe that
only a whole pack can drive you away?"

"It makes sense, doesn't it? Four or so dogs is not much of a match...."
Damon chuckled.

"Are you saying you fought others for territory before?" Klavier asked.

"Of course, what else am I to do? But I didn't just fought them off..."

"I killed them."

Killing was nothing unusual in the life of a wild animal. But
to an animal that has been raised by humans for almost their whole life,
their reaction would be far than 'normal'. The two brothers were surprised
and Damon could sense it.

"Shocked? Many dogs kill each other for territory. I'm surprised you
didn't know that." Damon laughed. "That is, unless you've been raised
by worthless humans."

"Worthless?!" Klavier fiercely retorted.

"Klavier, stop that nonsense. You know our owner had aban-"

Klavier didn't listen to his brother. He approached this Damon "Gant"
dog and locked eyes with him. "No human is worthless. They can be
loving, caring an-"

"Just as I thought. Dogs previously owned by a human. Your lives have been
wasted." Snorted Damon.

Ggggrrrr....

"Klavier? What are you...?" Kristoph asked.

A low, deep sound was emitting from Klavier's throat. He was growling
directly at Damon. Damon only shifted his eyes and kept still.

"Stop it Klavier!" Kristoph demanded.

It was too late. "You dare to growl at me?" Words escaped out of
Damon's mouth like a winter's breeze. He was dead serious.

Defensively Damon had snapped his fangs forward. Klavier yelped from shock
and pain, Damon's teeth had scrapped against his muzzle and sensitive nose.
He tumbled backwards.

"Klavier!!" Kristoph gasped and watched him trip onto the rocky ground. Kristoph
fixed his attention at Klavier's attacker. "You...."

The gash was deep and had drawn blood. It was visible on Damon's teeth
and his own muzzle. Watching Klavier fall back and gazing into Kristoph's
angry and shocked expression, he only chuckled and licked blood off of his
fangs.

"I hadn't tasted blood in awhile. Game and other dogs in the wild are
scarce these days.." Damon said.

Kristoph barked. "All we asked you was what you were doing here and to
leave!"

"You are wrong. Your little friend growled at me, so I snapped back. Must
you get angry over petty things?" Damon was almost laughing, or at least
to Kristoph's ears.

Now it was Kristoph who was growling. He couldn't control his anger anymore.
Klavier had unnoticeably gotten off and backed away from the two, and
occasionlly tending to his wounded muzzle but never taking his eyes off
the two.

"And another thing. Just telling me to leave will not work." Damon finished,
he moved to the right and Kristoph had moved to the left.

When Damon tried moving again, so did Kristoph. He shifted his eyes and began
to move some more. Every time he moved so did Kristoph. Eventually they
were moving in a complete counter clockwise circle. Klavier knew what was
going to happen and took a few more steps back.

By now Klavier was losing all of his boldness. His tail went between his
legs, a sure sign of being submissive.

"This land doesn't belong to you, nor to your friend! It is mine! For that
sake, you and 'Klavier' must die."

"ENOUGH!!" Kristoph barked in a rage and rushed towards Damon.

Damon was a little unprepared for Kristoph's sudden jolt. Kristoph's jaws
mauled into the side of Damon's neck, biting aggressively. Damon was trying
to endure the pain as he felt Kristoph's fangs puncture into his flesh
and muscle. Already Kristoph's mouth was becoming bloody.

But Kristoph was not yet finished. Still gripping onto Damon's neck,
Kristoph charged and slammed Damon into a rock. Damon shrieked. That was
then Kristoph had loosened his grip, believing that Damon was weakened
enough.

Damon saw his chance, he snapped at Kristoph's left front leg. Using his
strength, he managed to flip Kristoph over and throw him to the hard
ground. Kristoph's eyes grew wide, and Damon proceeded to gnaw violently
at Kristoph's neck. Now it was Kristoph's turn to shed blood.

Klavier kept stepping a few more steps back as the fight got more intense.
He was too fearful to do anything else.

Kristoph kicked Damon off of him, which caused some of his skin to be
ripped off and he barked in more pain. He quickly got up and lunged
at Damon again. But Damon was quicker and managed to push Kristoph
back down. Kristoph landed head first into the dusty, rock grounds.

"You put up a good fight, for an owned animal!" Damon was actually
impressed of Kristoph's fighting ability. "Stand up, I'm ready for more."

Kristoph slowly gotten up and tried to open his eyes. "Ahh!" He gasped.
"My eyes.... they're.."

His eyes were covered in dust and it pained him to try to open them. He
tried to quickly rub his eyes but..

"What's wrong with your eyes? Forget them!" Damon dashed and gripped onto
Kristoph's neck again, allowing him no time to rub his eyes.

Even though he was temporary blinded, Kristoph didn't gave up. He managed
to twist his body around and gotten Damon to get go. Quickly using his
nose to pinpoint Damon's location, he snapped at Damon's neck and kept
a firm hold.

**********

While he stood there with the tightest grip he had ever held, Kristoph
was calculating what to do. Then he remembered the cliff and the river
below.

"...But... that would be madness..." Kristoph rapidly thought to himself. "But
if I don't do something, he'll surely kill Klavier! My brother..."

He decided. There was no time for further quick calculations. He had to
do it, and now. Slowly be began to walk towards the cliff's ledge, dragging
Damon along with him. He followed the source of the river's sound.

"Kristoph!" Klavier barked. "No! Please!"

Damon knew what was happening. "You're making a big mistake..." He gasped
for air between words, Kristoph's grip was almost choking him.

Kristoph felt one paw go over the edge, he was that close.

"I'm sorry...." Kristoph thought to himself. "Forgive me, brother. But this
is the only way I can make sure he dies..."

Kristoph walked off of the edge and fell along with Damon.

"NO! KRISTOPH!!" Klavier screamed and ran to the ledge. He stopped and
looked down below. His body was trembling. He was terrified.

Tell me what the waters know
O are these the Tears of Ages
That wash away the Dog's Way
And leave not a trace of the day?

"I am useless! Why didn't I save my bruden! Scared wild dog! KRISTOPH!!"

Klavier followed them. He too took the plunge.

A great sense of pressure from falling was overcoming the senses of
Kristoph and Damon. He held his pained eyes tighter than before. Was
he going to hit the water or crash into something else? Damon was the
only one not blinded who could tell. But he was too busy screaming.

Whatever it could be, it could be fatal for the both of them. They had
hit the raging waters, Kristoph's grip had released the wounded neck of
Damon and the waters had washed away all of the dust. Kristoph could open
his eyes, although being half submerged made his eyes sting from the water.

But not as much as the painful dust.

Kristoph was a born swimmer, or so many people would say when the topic
of Golden Retrievers came about. Kristoph was able to surface,
but swimming in a raging river was extremely difficult. And when you
have Damon still trying to attack you, things don't look very good.

The two kept on snapping at each other furiously. There was no stopping
them.

Tell me what the waters know
O is this the flood of fortune
That pours itself upon me?
O see how I drown in this sea

Damon bitten into Kristoph's back. Kristoph went for his
ear. Their wounds were now worse and more painful than ever. If either of
them were to survive, recovery would take nearly forever.

"Go to hell!" Muffled Damon with his teeth still sunk into Kristoph's
bleeding flesh.

But something caught the eye of Kristoph. A golden animal wearing a chain
necklace was flying down. "K-Klavier?!"

Klavier flew smack towards Damon's back and bit him as hard as he could.
Damon released his grip on Kristoph and barked from surprise and sudden
pain. Kristoph drifted away. He tried to swim back to help Klavier, but
the currant was just too strong.

That wasn't all that harmed Damon. Gravity did something to him too.
Klavier's chain necklace swung around and the sharp end of the pendent
pierced the left eye of Damon.

Klavier had never heard a louder scream of pain than from the half-blinded
Damon.

"You fucking bastard!!" Barked Damon. In a fit of rage he snapped powerfully
at Klavier's chest. Klavier was pushed off and slammed against some jagged
rocks which greatly worsened the chest wound.

Damon was having trouble seeing with only one eye, and his wounds made his
body hurt from even the slightest movement. He was helpless now and was
carried away by the currant. Towards the waterfall.

Hear the howl that eats the moon alive
Your fur is on fire
The smoke turns the whole sky raven black
And the world upon your back will crack

Damon's almost lifeless body flew down. The waterfall took him directly
to more rapids.

The rocks ripped apart his flesh and muscles. He was killed.

Kristoph found some of his strength and managed to swim to the rocky
shore. He had completely missed seeing Klavier's attack, all he heard were
painful screams and Damon's final words.

Kristoph dropped down. He was terribly weak, sounds kept ringing through
his ears and his eyesight was blurry. What he had to go through was more
than horrible. Despite his weakness, he searched around him.

"Klavier..." He spoke weakly. Then he found him. "Klavier!!"

Kristoph dragged his body towards his finding. Klavier had actually
washed ashore by a stroke of luck. A trail of blood closely followed
the path of Kristoph.

When Kristoph arrived, he was shocked. Klavier's whole body, especially
his chest, was bleeding to no end. There was also blood seeping through
his open mouth.

"Klavier..." Kristoph sobbed. He gently nudged against his head, but Klavier
wouldn't move.

He wasn't breathing. Kristoph placed an ear next to him.

His heart wasn't beating either. And that was all it took, Kristoph was
sobbing tears that were mixed with his own blood.

Where will you go
Now you've lost everything?

"Why Klavier! I did this to protect you!"

Kristoph laid down next to his brother's body. He starred at his brother's young face,
the face that would never smile at him again.

"Why?"

Kristoph continued to sob. His weakness was now becoming overwhelming, so
he closed his eyes to rest. But that was the last of it. Kristoph would never awake either.

He had died too. From loss of blood. And he had lived up to what he had said earlier.

"Where you go I will go."

Let the waters wash away your last days

The song there? It's Tell Me What the Rain Knows, except slightly edited to fit the fan fiction.
