I've edited a couple of sprites from Kay Faraday, one of my favourite characters. All files are in .psd format in this RAR, so you can edit them in Adobe Photoshop CS6 and also see how I used the layers.

And yes, I know showcasting them would have been better, but I kinda got bored and didn't make some gifs...

Don't get angry at me, :kay: ?

Get it?

I'm a noob AND a beginner at sprite editing, but still I'm open to requests.

I'll check them out when I get home.
You know you can use "Save for Web" to export gifs in Photoshop

I didn't export the gifs because I didn't know to animate them in Photoshop (creating a video timeline?). And I thought they were terrible if done with Adobe Flash CS6 (they have background in the gif and lose some quality).

Yeah don't use flash for sprites, but I got to check them, and they look like legit sprites! They're clean edits!

Thank you. They were my first edits ever. I can't draw so I edit. But I should really start to learn how to edit better (use color modificators to alter jacket colours for instance). I had another idea: Create a laughing Phoenix with NSBT/(S)nickers' GK Phoenix Wright sprites. But I should learn how to make him raise his shoulders.

By the way, for Kay's sprites, I helped myself with the GK2 sprite sheet (The one eye opened nose-rub and the smile in general).

Ease yourself into it. There are many really good spriters I've seen who do edits only and you can get some really detailed stuff!

Just try and if you mess it up, you'll remember how you did it incorrectly, so the more you just mess around and experiment, the better.

Uh... Care to show just the frames of the sprites? Or do you have no idea how to export images from Photoshop?
yes

Oh these are super cool! You did a lovely job, they look totally natural! I really encourage you to keep at it, you have an eye for this stuff!
And make sure to have fun while you do these and things will go all the more smooth. :edgey:

But yeah, you should animate and export these as gifs for people who don't have Photoshop so you can share your hard work with everyone to see. :phoenix: If you need help how to do that, I can give you advice on how if need be. :kristoph:

Thanks a lot for the compliments, people. :edgey:

But yeah, I don't know how to make the sprites into gifs with Photoshop, and I'm afraid that if I use any other software the sprites will lose some of their quality. :sadshoe:

For better viewing, I recommend ACDSee Quick View. They allowed me to see the sprites even though they were in .psd format. :google: is your friend.

That said, I'll try to keep the good stuff coming. Peace.

Another Kay edit attempt... Really?

Based on Neni's sprites, go check out her(?) profile. By the way, I love this hairstyle on Kay.

Yes, I kept the psd.

It looks really good! I remember Neni! She used to make some really nice sprite edits!
Only thing is it looks like her chin is stuck in her neck a bit, maybe extrude the head a little?

Here's a quick tutorial on how to animate gifs in Photoshop:
Spoiler:
  • Turn on the "Timeline" bar (Window -> Timeline)
  • Make sure all your frames are separate layers on the same document
  • Open up the Timeline panel and click "Create Video Timeline" then click the button with the 3 squares in the bottom left. (When you highlight it it says "Convert to frame animation")
  • Click the drop down box in the top right of the timeline panel and select "Make frames from Layers"
  • It's all been done for you!
  • Then you go File -> Save for Web and make sure you select GIF

You're right. I should give her face a layer or two more of skin.

Fixed the hair down Kay (Not really, look at her SWOLLEN mouth. Broken jaw?). Am I the only one who finds that neck so cute I could eat it? Probably yeah. Thanks, Neni, for making me love a figure of pixels. :will:
