I need to know what else I could do to further perfect this sprite, because I plan to continue making more sprites for my OC, but I need to figure what to work out, and what to keep.

If you want critique... the eyepatch kind confuses me. Like, it seems to disappear into his hairline at the top, so it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Also, his jawline looks kind of strange - it just disappears into his hair.
Apart from that, it's good for a first try!

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Also is that an earring? If it is, you could make it more obvious. And I agree the eyepatch could use some shading.

I think the hair needs a bit more shading though, especially the hair behind his neck, as it will add perspective.
