Okay, now I have a few sprites. But there's only one, OC character.

My sprites are from scratch, tracing Vera's head and body outline only, and then using her for size proportions.

Spoiler: Memmy Saron

For my Phoenix Wright fan case/game "Phoenix Wright: Youtube Attorney" an Ace Attorney case controlled and used completely with Youtube annotations. (No seriously.) This is Memmy, one of the characters in the case.

Still working on the sprite a little, like adding more detail and making everything softer and I still have 7 more sprites to do, (including animations, one of which is her pulling her hair.) but this'ns finished for now.

Name: Mneme "Memmy" Saron

Personality: Constantly shifts between emotions and is diagnosed with "Hemalzier's disease" (a fictional and weaker form of Alzhiemer's. This game takes place in the future, mind you.) but normally very cheerful.

Misc. Facts: She keeps a notebook in her front pocket and writes important things down in it.
Her overalls are a hand-me-down of her late father, which means they're two sizes too big.
Memmy's a toy maker.

Friends and Family:
Can't reveal that. But she had a father who is now deceased.

Name Origin:
Mneme is Greek for memory. Her father called her Memmy all the time because Mneme was difficult to pronounce when Memmy was young.

Not bad ast all.
Only thing it need would be some work with the lines, like making them less...
Less...Big? And just to let everyone know; I'm talking 'bout lines on his face,
for example that one which separates her head from his neck...throat...wut ever.
Just some editing to make those "more thin".

Someone whit better skills can translate this better.

Wut?
Are ya saing it's a girl or are ya saying it's a guy?
Anyway, because of this I assume that it is a gal.

But yeah, you could (and I know someone is going to use this against me sometime) use some shading work to make her boobs more noticable.
Everyone like boobs :D

EDIT: Oh...Seems like I did write "his" in the third row.
That's pure typo and as you can see, I also said her in the following sentence.
Sorry 'bout the confusion.

The eyes seem a bit...lopsided. I like how the pencil's moving though XD You should probably have her hand and arm move a bit too, since most people aren't that stiff while writing.

I agree.
So... does she ever opens her eyes or what?

Nope. It's actually important that she doesn't. :keiko:

I had to almost completely recreate the sprite for the thinking/hair pulling animation. I whipped up a courtroom sprite to take a break.

I'll probably redo this one so it's better.

Up next I'll do an edit of Larry Butz in a ice cream man outfit to take a break from Memmy.

For anyone wondering, Memmy does open her eyes in her damage and stress sprites. Don't feel like revealing her eye color.

It kind of looks like she's trying to wash her hair actually. You might want to change her arm positioning.

May I suggest learning Flash and creating an engine from that?

I respect your idea with the YouTube annotations and all, but how do you plan on animating the characters? Flash's scripting engine, using Actionscript, allows you to program animation frames, working with buttons as well.

Just don't want you to do too much unnecessary work ^^

I was actually going to use Flash in the first place. I need to remove certain buttons and only have the top screen visible.

A friend of mine knows ActionScript too, so I'll get him on it.

In fact, I was actually going to make this a Flash game alone, draw all the characters, backgrounds ect., but putting it on Youtube seems more fun, and it gains more publicity that way.

Make it in Flash, and put that on Youtube. Yup yup. It will be released as a Flash game much later (plus the coding and everything and the script so people can translate it.)

It would play almost exactly to that of a regular Ace Attorney game, but with differences in this list. (And the list tells how everything would work.)
Spoiler: Youtube Attorney System Notes
  • Messages proceed along automatically as you'd expect. They appear like they do in-game and it goes to the next messages after 2 seconds. The testimony works the same way.
  • Annotations connect a series of videos to each other. Say you Object to the witness's part of the testimony. You click the annotation and it leads to a specific video. If it was incorrect, it leads you to a losing video. (And then you can return by clicking an annotation that leads back.) If correct, it leads you the winning video.
  • As you'd expect, Move, Present, and Talk all work in the way they do in-game. I don't need to explain those to you.
  • Examine...ho hum. Examine. Yes, that will require a lot of videos. I have to admit that I'm going to try avoid using the Examine as much as possible, but still use it. Evidence will usually be gathered automatically, or by other characters. Examine would work simply as clicking the evidence with annotations, leading to certain videos for each. Uninteresting things will still have annotations.
  • Court Records can only be accessed when you Examine everything possible, and Talk to as many people, etc. Present also applies with that.
  • There will be a "minigame" like that of 1-5 with the video. It's self-explanatory, it shows a video as normal with a return annotation. You run through that video looking for anything suspicious and click on it like examining. You can pause, rewind, etc. with the regular Youtube buttons.
  • To avoid constant clicking through videos, I'm going to try to extend conversations.

I expect there to be around 250 videos.

I should note that the cases won't be out for...oh, two years? This is a solo project (besides my friend making the system) with suggestions from my friends and others. I have 5 cases to create. The first case will be released immediately, but the next four will be released at the same time because they are connected. Memmy's sprites alone have taken 2 weeks to create, with only less than half of them done, and I need to create 5 sprites, and one character edit. (Ice Cream Man Larry Butz.) which totals about to about 40 or so sprites.

Like I said, I was going to rework the sprite so it's a bit more slower, but for right now I'm going to work on the sprites for the first case, which is meant to work as a tutorial to the court. (Like in every game.) It's going to involve Larry Butz and his new job as an Ice Cream man.

^^ just glad Flash is being used.

God forbid anyone use a movie maker to animate...
