History/Background info: When Mio was 8 years old, her parents abandoned her and her little sister, Maki. With no where to go, they ended up living at their aunt's house. Angry at what her parents did to her and her little sister, Mio gained an inner rage. She started getting into fights in the streets at the age of 12. At age 13, she was caught by the police for fighting. Because of this, her aunt found out about Mio's secret life. Enraged, Mio and Maki's aunt gave them money to rent an apartment home and kicked them out. Her aunt stated that she simply would not house a thug.
This only caused Mio's inner rage to grow.
Having to quit school and not being old enough to get a job, Mio would go out to the streets, fight thugs and gangsters and steal their money so she could support herself and Maki.
Because of this life Mio was living, she started to get a name for herself on the streets. Gang members and street thugs called her "The Black Iris". To match her nickname, Mio got a tattoo on her upper left arm of a black iris.
Maki often protested to Mio's thug life, but Mio ignored her, saying that she was doing it to support the both of them.

Mio ended up being a part of a case that Gumshoe and Edgeworth worked on when she was 15 (Edgeworth was 20). Because of them she stopped hating law enforcement and became a detective.

Personality: When she was younger, she had a rude and rough personality. She had a short temper, was anti-social and hated law enforcement. But deep down she was soft. Mio never let anyone see that side, though.
When she grew up and became a detective, she became more polite, kind, outgoing and a bit of a ditz. She shed off her younger self and only pulled out her rough side when it came to dealing with criminals.

Other: She has some romantic feelings for Miles Edgeworth, but she hides them.
Because of her lifestyle before she became a detective, she has amazing physical strength.
She tends to team up with Edgeworth and Gumshoe once in a while.

Two years later, when Mio turned 15, a tragedy occurred. One rainy night, when Mio was grocery shopping, Maki left to go find her older sister, thinking that she had left to go fight in the streets again.
Maki ended up going to Hina Takahashi/Hina Redbay's house. Hina was Mio's best friend and was a bit of a thug like Mio.

Maki asked Hina where Mio was. When Hina claimed she didn't know, Maki ran off to continue her search.
Realizing that it wasn't a good idea for Maki to be running around the city at night, and when it was raining no less, Hina called Mio and alerted her that Maki was running the streets alone.

Alarmed, Mio and Hina immediately went off to search for her, separately. After 20 minutes of searching the two girls ran into each other and continued the search together.
They split up to search a few alleyways; and that's when Mio stumbled upon a horrifying scene.

Maki, her little sister, was dead in the alleyway, beaten to death. Her killer was just leaving the scene. When Mio screamed Maki's name, the killer turned to look at Mio before running away.
Hina arrived after hearing Mio scream and quickly called the police.

Hina had to try and keep Mio from touching Maki as the police arrived. With the police was Dick Gumshoe, who was still a new detective at the time. Since Mio was refusing to say anything to the police, Hina told everything she knew to them.
After receiving the information from Hina, they asked Mio to come with them, for she was to be the witness of the case. (Since she saw the silhouette of the killer.)
Mio hated the police and anything to do with law enforcement, so she disobeyed the police and ran away from them. They was unable to catch her that night. Mio ended up wandering the streets the whole night, avoiding the police and trying to figure out who the killer was. She had recognized the man as a gangster she had seen before in one of her fights. But she didn't know who he was, nor did she really remember what he looked like.

With no suspect and the witness missing, the police and Gumshoe started their investigation of the crime scene immediately. Hina was brought to Criminal Affairs for questioning.
Shortly after the investigation started, Mile Edgeworth (who was still a new prosecutor; age 20) arrived. Gumshoe reported everything that had happened and Edgeworth decided that him and Gumshoe were going to seek out the witness, starting at her home, the next day.

The next morning, Mio returned to her apartment and changed clothes before leaving to go find her sister's murderer.
Right as she was leaving, she spotted Gumshoe and Edgeworth approaching the apartment complex. Recognizing Detective Gumshoe, she immediately fled. Unfortunately for her, Gumshoe spotted her and the two men chased after her.
Mio, knowing her way around the city, avoided the Detective and Prosecutor for almost half the day, almost getting caught twice. One of times she was almost caught, she ended up kicking Edgeworth in the face, knocking him down, before running off and calling back to the two, that she hated the police and that she would find her sister's murderer by herself.
Before noon, Gumshoe and Edgeworth finally caught her, put her in handcuffs and took her to Criminal Affairs to question her and her actions.

Mio ended up bursting into tears and yelled at the two, accusing them of not knowing what it was like to lose the only family you had left.
Edgeworth, remembering the loss of his own father said he understood. After a bit more convincing and talking, Mio finally agreed to help them and be their witness.
On a condition of course. That she would be allowed to help in the investigation. The two men weren't pleased with that term, but they agreed. She would be allowed to investigate only under their supervision.

After investigating for a couple of days, they finally found the killer and arrested him. During the investigations and after the killer was arrested, Mio had a change of heart about the police and law enforcement. She declared that she was going to stop being a thug and join law enforcement so she could, one day, help Edgeworth and Gumshoe. And also to lock all murderer's behind bars.
She moved away to follow her dream and returned four years later as a detective. Edgeworth and Gumshoe almost didn't recognize her at first, until they saw her Black Iris tattoo.

She's 15 in these sprites. She dyed her hair she was 15.





She was a thug at 15. And I hope she looks like a 15 year old girl.

I seriously just doodled randomly and somehow, it came out looking like a black iris. So I went along with that.

I took a swing at an Objection pose. Mostly for fun.


I fell in love with this one once I finished it. It was a lot of fun to make.
