When ever I try to make a sprite video the characters have a green backgrond that takes up the location backgrond; when I try to trim it off in paint and copy it to paste over the location it has a white background behind it any help to get the characters trimed to put in a location?

Percei's guide should help with that. Look in 'Adding Transparency in GIMP'. You need GIMP or Photoshop of course.
