The concepts are things I've never though of!
For your OC's, I like the ideas behind them! Of course, a little practice does help, so the more you tinker with the sprites, the close they'll look to the style of AA

You can see that everything's a lot smoother in that. To improve that particular one, you should work over the edges on your sprite. Whenever something looks squarish, fill in the gaps so that it looks more like a line.

I've seen here far too many of thesse zoom pics that are just resized and everything...
It's just...How should I put it...Somewhat...tiresome...to see this.
You know; when they don't take the effort or tme to edit it to complete form...
...I usually won't end up writing anything for those...Don't feel like giving effort to either.
Meh...Plus I'm lazy as a slug having hangover.
But anywaaaaaaaay...
So ya said that your having some trouble with making them AA style, eh?
Weeeeeel...You could always practice the art style by drawing the already existing characters on paper and trying to copy those as well as you can.
Once you think your doing okay with that; try drawing your OC's on paper and try to mimic the style of AA art as close as you can.
You know, the eye styles, heads, noses, ears...every little detail.
In time those will aply to your sprite works too, but...well...yeah this takes time.
But no hurry, no hurry.

That sprite looks like something out of Alice: Madness Return's Dollhouse level. By that, I mean incredibly creepy. I like that, though. Could use him in a trial based off of it if he had a few more poses.

The biggest issue is most likely the fact that his chin isn't moving, and maybe the order of the frames?
And I would suggest changing the angle of his face a bit.
