Once again, sorry if I became rude or something.
That's the handle of his sword sticking out attached to his belt.
His pointer finger gets cut off in the shot he traced from the trailer. It's still all anatomically correct.
I chopped off part of his arm in one of my Ryuu sprites to the fit the DS screen dimensions as well.

EDIT: Although, bringing weapons in Court is a crime, but what's with them (Ryn and Edgey II) bringing weapons in court? For self-defense?

Do you by chance flip the canvas? It's useful to get things straightened out. (Alternatively, draw one half, duplicate it and flip it, then add the asymmetry afterwards.)

I do sometimes! But it's so hard to correct them for some reason, maybe it's because I'm so used to tilting at an angle when writing/drawing.

He was meant to be a sort of anti social looking teacher at first, and he kinda looked like it when I sketched him, but as I corrected his face shape, eyes etc... (My sketches always have ultra uneven body and faces

My friend who is new to both series(yay new AA fans) kept mixing up the both of them at some point.
I thought some of Athena's beta design looked way better than her final one though

When scans of the artbook came out my avatar was of Beta Athena for a long time. I liked that design a lot!

I can still recognise the face as Maya's. I think you need a bit more definition around her nose? Her face looks a bit flat.
